I live 1 mile from Heartbreak Hill and I have watched the race since i was a child. My favorite holiday! I promise to look out tor both of you and cheer you on up the hill. Ive run it (legally) once 5 years ago (profoundly slowly) and I have one piece of unsolicited advice: it going to be LOUD! Bask in the insane energy of the crowds of the Wellesley Scream Tunnel, the partiers at Boston College and every inch of the run! Good luck! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!

Catchphrase for Boston is “Banking is Bonking” on the initial downhills. Make sure you are happy with your spot in the coral too, the pack dictated my pace for the first 2km.

Yesterday I signed from my very first marathon next January (Disney) to celebrate my 50th birthday in the same month. I never been a distance runner, just a casual runner(3 miles) on and off over the years although 33 years of resistance trainning since i was 16. I started running again 3 months ago after an ankle hairline fracture 4 years ago. Sometimes it still hurts a little, but in 3 months I've been doing a 10k almost everyday and still have 9 months to train, I do resistance training (high reps low weight everyday too. Thank you guys bec your channel last few months has been very refreshing and informative. I wish for you and Mary a great time in Boston and a great time on the race. God bless.

Never thought of taking a sports gel at the beginning 🤔 I'm liking that idea. I'll try that on my next long run of 65 mins 😅😂😂 in prep for a 15k. I usually take one every 45 minutes. Sp happy for these daily uploads and following the lead up to Boston!!!

I’ve done Boston twice and it’s surreal, not like any other race, the crowds are packed the entire way. I live close by and regularly travel the route. It does go down the first half but not really noticeably. It undulates regularly with little ups and downs throughout. I have run Heatbreak hill several times for fun training, this is where the novelty wears off, the “honeymoon” ends and you really start feeling it. But at the top of the hill you arrive in Boston and the adrenaline kicks in especially in Kenmore square with 1 mile to go. I’ll look for you and cheer you on. Good luck!

I LOVE Saucony! Ran my first two half marathons (Beaver Canyon in Utah and Ku-Ikahi in Hawaii) in them. And I saw the Hollywood sign from the plane when I was flying home last month from the half in Hawaii.

Good luck guys! just checked Masshole weather for the race. It seems to be quite warm and sunny. Roughly around 21C. Give or take a few degrees. A suggestion, bring some run tights and long sleeve shirts. It still could rain, Basically, English weather! Do have a good race and be prepared for Heartbreak Hill! it's at the end just before the finish line. Tougher than it looks! Slainte!

Not sure you’re going to want water at every aid station. I understand they are every mile. You’ll be stopping at a porta-potty if you drink that much.

Must be confusing running in cooler weather maintaining goal pace but with HR 10-20 bpm lower than usual.

Great stuff! A gel every 25 mins seems excessive to me. Are you sure?
@landaring9 ай бұрын
40g of carbs every 25min equates to 96g/HR which is on the high side but still within most recommendations
@conradburdekin7229 ай бұрын
I have a gel every 20-25 mins in a marathon. My gels are 23g of carbs so around 70g an hour. Also means if I can’t face anything towards the end I’ve got a good store from earlier in the race
