Yea so this rlly isn’t a surprise. For anyone who is familiar with the company NetEase they made Cyber Hunter and that was full of bots to help fill matches. So them doing the same here is surprising. I used get bots on my teams all the time. Nothing against the company or games they all been dope from my experience I love Rivals and loved Cyber Hunter when it was popping off. But yea I basically expected some bot use, especially with the AI bot matches feature

If you have bots then your game is never "dead" , no matter what people will ALWAYS be able to play a match as long as the servers are up. That alone is extremely attractive to billion dollar corporations who's sole goal is risk management.

You can tell that the team is full of bots because there are 2 tanks, 2 supports, & 2 dps in quick play. No team with humans in quick play don’t have at least 3 people that insta lock dps characters (and always the flanking ones like Spider-Man, Psylocke, and Iron-Fist)

this. quick play should not consistently follow the tank/healer/dps meta so well. it should be absolute chaos with the same characters that kids pick over and over and over, completely ignoring traditional team composition, however that's not what happens. you almost always get a tank and a healer of some sort with zero communication, like every 10 year old just knows the tank/healer/dps comp? not buying it.

This could also be only for a short time, until you get familiar with the game...Many games do this, so on the first round you play, you don't get demolished in your very first experience.

If you're unaware, people who are "new" and haven't played a quickplay prior, their first match will be AGAINST "easy" bots despite it saying quick play, this hooks the player in and keeps them playing the game because they would've most likely outperformed the AI/BOTS by a large margin whilst thinking that they were real players

Tested it, it's true. New account and I just run next to enemies and they move, jump, pretend to be there but they don't even try to attack you. It's like they want you to win, they only start doing anything once you start attacking.

It's game theory. The general rule is to "let" your opponent win about a 3rd of the time. This is because if someone starts playing a game and they just get their ass kicked mercilessly every time they press a button, they're more likely to give up on the game. But if they're winning about 1:3 of the games, that's about the minimum to keep the person feeling good about actually engaging with the game. This isn't new, either. Games like Fortnite were doing this around 2019. Around 20-30 bots would be added into lobbies so that when players land, it lessened the chances that they're instantly shredded by some ridiculously good player who just got a better drop than them. So even if you land and get a crappy drop, you can take out 1-2 bots, loot up and start encountering real players about midway through the match, where everyone has decent loot. Before bots were added, Fortnite could be outright tragic for a lot of players who didn't know exactly where to drop. They'd land and have people waiting to drop them before they got a weapon, ending player's sessions faster than the bus ride over the island. You see some version of game theory in most genres of competitive games. Even 1v1 fighting games have been incorporating their version of "letting the loser win" with adding "Revenge" mechanics to fighting games since Street Fighter 4 in 2008. Revenge mechanics are any mechanics where the game rewards the person who is losing with unearned means to turn the tides of the fight. For example, gaining super meter for being hit - That super meter can then be used on an invincible reversal super that does a ton of damage to the attacker, making the match closer, or outright turning the tides of the match altogether. Imo, I prefer seeing bots in Quickplay to seeing Revenge mechanics in 1v1 fighting games. An equivalent to seeing Revenge mechanics in Marvel Rivals would be building 33% of your Ultimate ability each time you die. It'd be incredibly annoying because you'd then have to play around the fact that every time you KO a person 3 times, you'd be giving him the means to score a potential team wipe against you. So yeah, I much prefer the odd bot games in Quickplay to other means I've seen to "let the loser win". Besides, there are no bots in Competitive... at least not that I've noticed.

This kind of thing has been happening to help the loser win for even farther back than 2008. Mario Kart has done it forever with rubberbanding. Rubberbandng basically manipulates the game to help slower players keep up with the Ai.

I thought about the bots as soon as I tried to play competitive. Quickplay joins the game and loads team and enemies instantly, but in modes with actual people, you actually have long loadtimes and connecting. There's no way in hell you have to have these long loading times but then have 0 loading in quickplay. The only difference between competitive and quickplay is how fast you find the match, but once it's found, it should go through the same process of connecting you to other players.

This game succeeds when it gives you the power fantasy of being a superhero, if you lose every game then it's not going to be that fun and ppl will be less likely to stay invested and purchase stuff. @@NeocrimsonX if they want to play against exclusively bots, yes. That's a practice mode, it's for playing heroes you've never tried before so you aren't throwing matches. Once you get more comfortable and want to increase the difficulty you can go to quickplay, where you get a mix of real and bot opps. Then when you're very comfortable with a character you go to ranked.

There’s bots in quick play. I see them all the time. It’s always super obvious when you watch the kill cam. Perfect aim / 180 spin shots. If you look at the “recently played” list, they are all level 4 or 5 accounts with their profile hidden.

Okay so the way you get into a bot lobby is by losing 2 games in a row. It isn't guaranteed that you'll be put in a bot lobby after 2 losses, but your chance go up exponentially. In a bot lobby, you will also have 2 teammates that are bots. So in total, there are 8 bots, and 4 real people in the match.

It's retention based matchmaking, they can't let you think you're total ass so they put bot's in your lobbies to keep you playing the game. It's actually tragic, dev companies artificially effecting people's KD's, their win rate, amongst other things. The real issue I have with it is how they don't tell you upfront, and do their best to try and make the bots play like human players, shooting at random things in the waiting room. They do this in their other game Naraka bladepoint aswell, they actually do it in ranked too so some testing on that would be interesting. The bots are trained with ai/machine learning with data of real players and pros and tuned for the different ranks to help with queue times

In fairness, we cannot confirm that these bots are actually added by marvel rivals. Botting is super common in free to play competitive games. Just look at TF2. Its often a way for cheat manufactures to test stuff on mass, in lobbies. Or to grind stats, items and ranks for them to sell the accounts. (Often they'll drop them in QPs to increase playtime statistics and make the stats look more realisitc as the market seems to stray away from completely botted accounts a little as they are deemed far more likely to be banned down the line) Alternatively to disrupt the game, peoples fun and the success of a game OR countless other reaons of which are all individually rabbit holes.

There are 2 ways I've seen to distinguish the bots from real players. Pick any flanker and dive the healers any bots tend to instantly lock onto you and murder you with extreme prejudice. But the easiest way is chose Groot. The way bots aim at wall are weird the lock onto the bottom middle of the wall it looks really weird.

But if you’re losing so many games and not improving getting sent to the bot lobbies is saving their potential teammates from a headache. Games saying “Get back to the bots you’re a detriment to your team”. I think that there’s real game knowledge and improvement that can be made early on in bot lobbies. I got a video on my channel from like day 3 or day 4 with 3 bots on the enemy team... It might have been the whole team but I didn't check. I thought it was cheaters testing their cheats and scripts out but I'm starting to thing the devs might be rigging matches with bots or making sure the ques are instant. EDIT: The Crazy part is the Dr Strange named PABLO.. was one of the same players in my game playing the Penni Parker.

I can confirm this. In the first week of release, me and my friends lost a few quick matches in a row and all of a sudden we got a bot match where we dominated. I knew something was wrong so I went next to the enemies and it took them over 20 seconds to kill me while I was AFK, that was the proof I needed.

When you try to view a player's career profile, if it says "restricted", it's a bot. Whilst if it says "private", it's a real player who has set their career profile to private/friends only/teammate only. The game will throw you into a full team of bot enemy game if you lose too many matches. The purpose is to balance out your win to lose ratio so it's 50% or more win. Sometimes the algorithm makes a mistake and you get a 60% win rate which means the algorithm will put you against tougher enemies to make you lose. The above scenario only applies to solo que. If you're playing with a couple of friends, the algorithm will be a little bit different.

Bot lobbies in quickplay are real they try to hide it by using real player names the way to get them is to go on a massive losing streak like 0 kills 10 deaths and that will tank your mmr low enough that the game takes pity on you. You can also get bots on your team and an easy way to tell is by looking at the player highlights at the end of the match.

Also an easy way to tell if they're bots is by playing Moon Knight and tossing an Ankh behind them and they will all instantly turn around to shoot it even if they are in a team fight. Like even Dr strange will turn around while he has his shield up and give his back to your team.

This makes so much sense, I was in a game as Spider-Man against a Black Widow and Punisher and would only die to them. On every killcam they would have mediocre aim then suddenly 180 snap to me with perfect tracking. I assumed cheaters but they were losing so bad my team basically pushed them into their spawn the whole game so I assumed my team had real players. It's fine maybe having a single bot on each team if the queue is a little long but a whole team of bots or a whole game of bots but you is unacceptable, are they counting their bots as part of their 20 million players or whatever.

as another person that has made a video and argued about this topic bots are one of if not the most annoying thing in my opinion. I have seriously considered uninstalling the game I want it to be known here that netease the studio behind Marvel Rivals is a mobile game dev first and i known for adding bots to their games like Identity V, DBD Mobile and more if you want to go and search for it. I personally don't like soloquing for rank I will play ranked if I have friends online but if not im soloquing qp and I will admit im not that good of a player but im not really trying im watching yt while playing but getting on a 2 game loss streak makes it really likely that you will get into these games. Also nice job on the video and im glad that it's gotten as much attention as it has. I also wanted to add I think if they want bots in quck match just use them to fill leavers that would make leaving in quick match a much smaller issue overall.

There was a groot in my team, and it kept on running in a straight line, back and forth at the side of the capture zone... didn't anything other than that in both fights. There IS a quickplay MMR. The first few games for a new account you will be matched with bots. If you win a couple you get matched with humans. At some point if your "quickplay MMR" falls too low you'll be matched with bots again. People say 2-3 losses you will be matched with bots but that's probably because their quickplay MMR is already too low.

I first noticed it when i played ranked and lost every game. cuz when i played normals me and my friend were mvp all the time. It didn't made sense such a difficulty difference. Then i noticed in those easy normal games a pattern in the player's names it's always SomethingSomething like a first and last name with capital letters. NetEase descriptively using bots to manipulate people into playing the game more, that's the major issue. Don't lie to your customers. If it's a bots match, then mark them as such. It's gross that NetEase is letting its players argue about it and not even make a comment on it. I play Rivals a ton, and have spent money, but this is one area that Blizzard could easily swoop in and own NetEase on. All they have to do is comment "We don't match bots in OUR game." Embarrassing for NetEase honestly. I'll probably just stick to Competitive in Rivals now, and QP I can't take seriously at all.

I got lobbies where the whole enemy team was bots after losing 2 or more times in a row and there were always 2 bots on my team as well. Hidden career profiles on all bots, they walk out of spawn in sync, strange aiming and ability timing. From the matches I could check in my history it seemed like about a quarter of the time I would be put in a bot lobby after losing twice in a row

On the map with the pit in the middle of the capture point all 11 players aside from myself sat in the pit. I won the fight sitting alone on the point from 0 to 100% and the enemy had zero deaths but wouldnt leave the pit to contest me.

A lot of multiplayer games use bots to replace players when they can't find other players for matches but the game must disclose that they are bots. NetEase need to stop this before it kills the game

You're not paranoid. It's real, and they are many. I had an entire enemy group, +1 on my team, that looked like legit bots. I first thought it was just a bad aimbot and real bad players, but I really think they're entirely bots and they're just not good bots (yet). All their accounts have the View Career locked down as well.

I thought I was legit losing my mind. Occasionally in quick play the enemy team will just run it down and walk in a straight line and die over and over. I mean yeah its quick play but come on.

Was playing some venom on the klyntar map,and noticed a punisher with some good aim tracking me while on the air while doing my swing,but the guy positioned in dumb ways on his turret (like right in front of the entire enemy team),and kinda realized that either it was 2 things a bot or a cheater with some big problems on his senses,also to point out that also all the enemy team had their careers locked. This video just made my suspicion worse.

Can I have the bots for comp due to my “teammates” being somehow worse than easy bots. And even when practicing against easy bots I’ve had teammates get rolled by them and give up to afk at spawn. It’s quite sad

Something I noticed in my steam achievements that is odd to me, it says only 10 percent of players have reached level 20, which make me wonder why that's soo low. Is the player count not as high as it claims it is or are people still low level from just playing Ai and/or private matches.

There is map where the center of the capture point sinks down and can't be capped. The bots group in the middle and let you cap the point if you stay out of their field of view. Their melee ai bugs if you use pennys web nest, lokis clones, or moonknights anks at hard to hit locations.

I get bots in ranked too. On a consistent basis tank stays at spawn in the beginning of the match. Different teams different players different heroes specifically tank remains at spawn. Almost every other game it’s really weird. Lot of other things I could go into but no one would believe me.

Its so they can give you a winrate that is above 50% even if you are bad at the game so that its still fun for you to play and you end up spending money. If you want to play against real people, play Ranked. Quickplay is for quick dopamine you get from winning.

Overwatch has a mechanic like this too, you just need to lose way more often to get into these bot lobbies. I experienced it myself in 2023, my team was 3 players and 2 bots while the enemy team was 2 players and 3 bots. It only happened one more time afterwards. I wish i would have saved these

I encountered a real bot on my team in a ranked game. I actually watched them on punisher while I was dead and they snapped to an enemy before firing a single bullet and was snapping again before I respawned.
