It was really interesting seeing Thor without Loki for the first time. Realizing how important their relationship was and now seeing how weird it is without Loki around. There is definitely a void there. This movie definitely had it’s highs and lows. My favorite bits were when Thor went full badass God of Thunder. Hopefully we see more of serious Thor because this comedic mid life crisis Thor is entertaining, but he doesn’t give chills like he does when he rains lightning down on his foes

Definitely an excellent season, a big improvement over season 2. I like that giving the Boys a way to kill Homelander didn't make Homelander any less scary because while they gave the Boys these ways to potentially kill him they also made HL much less limited and more threatening in other ways.
@charliecoke7396
@charliecoke7396 Жыл бұрын
@@nileshkumaraswamy2711 Not to mention, all these ways of "killing him" were almost as dangerous is Homelander himself. Sure, Soldier Boy was strong enough to compete with and potentially depowered him, but he's also a PTSD ridden blackout prone drug addict with (Until just before the ending) a complete inability to self reflect. Temp V gives cool powers, but we can also figure out waaaaay before the proper reveal that it has some serious health effects. Meanwhile all the while all the things that gave them the edge in season 2 are crumbling away. Maeve's allegiance, Homelander's need to be seen as heroic to be loved, even Ryan, all gone. It leaves them with only the rockiest bridges to cross to get to him, and means they actually have to be really damn smart to keep a step ahead of him.

It was the opposite for me. Not all the jokes landed, but I still liked a lot of the humour in the first half (including the screaming goats), and I felt like it was definitely still Taika Waititi's humour, and not just generic Marvel humour (I didn't enjoy the humour nearly as much in Infinity War and Endgame). And then in the end, I felt it reverted to a generic final battle with a big scary villain, who had a 'sympathetic' backstory crammed in at the beginning. But that's probably just difference in preference of humour. I like real stupid stuff like goats screaming every scene, and Zeus flipping a lightning bolt for thirty seconds straight. For context, it was an 8/10 for me.

@@prodigion1 kinda feel the same way. I don't understand how someone can see the comedic bits as "generic marvel" when a lot of the humor is pretty typical Waiti absurdist stuff. The movie doesn't doesn't even try to hide it. Like has anyone saying this ever *seen* a Waiti film before? I guess I'm just confused how Marcus can clearly see and appreciate what a film like Doctor Strange is meant to be and largely accomplishes (kinda campy/silly and not taking itself *too* seriously) then just be so far off base on a movie like this that's literally doing the same thing in a different way. Imo this is the better movie of the two because it does sprinkle some genuinely heartfelt stuff around too.

@@prodigion1 It was the opposite opposite for me... just kidding the whole movie was just cringe to me. You could argue any movie could be an easy top 10 in the MCU (this is more directed at the original comment obviously) but I do still see what you guys mean. This movie had a ton of potential with an AMAZING first scene and villain overall. It just sucks how badly they ruined him later in the movie because of all of the jokes. There honestly should have been more of him in the first half of the movie and I feel like it would have been a better movie overall. Show him do literally anything other than kidnap a bunch of children to bait Thor into fighting him on his own territory like a little *****. Gorr should have been much more powerful and been easily able to beat Thor without having to resort to kidnapping. We were told earlier in the movie that he was killing tons of gods! I really felt Gorr was underused. I always had a feeling, based off of the cool things I've heard about him from the comics, what we got in this movie made me feel underwhelmed. Not because of the actor or his performance but of how much time was spent making jokes instead of making Gorr a more present character. I would've loved to feel fear and an overall feeling of uneasiness when he's being the God Butcher. My point is, it would've been cool to see him really killing Gods, showing their strength but are unmatched by Gorr. It's kinda hard to take him seriously when his only threat is that he stole a bunch of kids in which we all know aren't going to have a tragic end in a family friendly movie

I have two major criticisms of The Boys season 3 [SPOILER ALERT] 1) The Soldier Boy storyline felt underused. SB as a character essentially functioned as a springboard for the development of other characters (MM's anger, Homelander's fear) and then they do away with him entirely. 2) The lack of criticism from the public for Homelander's nice guy facade slipping is bizarre. It would be like if Superman had been saving people with a smile for decades and then suddenly snapped and called himself a god that will not be controlled. People would realistically get nervous. And people were already protesting Homelander in season 2 so I expected more of that given these circumstances.

I feel like the MCU wants what the boys has, but they’re expecting to get it through quantity not quality. What made the MCU special was its core characters and its buildup in a way that was comparable to a tv show. Now both of those are gone, because it is spread very thin. The boys has both, thanks to the very nature of its IP. The boys was built as a critique of the genre, which the MCU has become- bloated, tame, and afraid to challenge its audience. The boys is not afraid, and it’s smarter than it’s competition. Rather than focus on every hero’s overly generic story, the creators of the boys focus their creativity on the core story and it’s core cast, which elevates its potential power to tell a unique story. It shocks us by exploring things we’ve never seen from the genre, and has a very clear end goal, delivered by the absolute best of the budget. The MCU needs to regain this, and consolidate so that it can deliver at the highest level. To put it simply, we don’t need 8 different 4/10 shows, it won’t work for us. One 10/10 show will keep us hooked forever. These Disney+ shows should combine rather than divide. Less is more, Disney.

You are comparing two wildly different takes on filmmaking here and its almost embarassing. The reason the boys works is because its a deconstruction of the marvel movies that populated the entirety of the 2010s. It makes all of it heroes shitty, its dark, has serious tones and the comedy usually comes from brutality if there is any comedy at all. Taika Waititi has and always will be the complete opposite of that. He makes movies that have no serious moments in them whatsoever. They are lighthearted, absurd and competently directed comedy movies deconstructing horrible situations. Hunt for the wilderpeople is about grief and acceptance while being lost in the wilderness for months. Jojo rabbit is a movie about a boy in nazi germany having to deal with having a jewish girl hidden in his house. Thor ragnarok is thor having his entire home and people destroyed. Thor love and thunder is about a maniacal god killer threatening every god in the universe and dealing with vengeance. All of these movies take these horrible things and use them as periphery to tell jokes and thats what makes them great. Not every movie has to be serious. Not everything wants or needs to be The Boys.

Knowing what made something successful is a hugely overlooked skill set. Most people don’t have a clue why they were able to achieve success, often attributing it to things they deep down want to be the reason. The thing about The Boys s3 finale is exactly what you said--it's setting up for next season, rather than serving as a great concluding point on its own. I felt like they were writing for longevity rather than quality several times, as several characters actually take a step back from the arcs they've been undergoing all season. The final confrontation had so much buildup and yet we're left with what feels like a return to the status quo. If you told someone season 1 that THIS is what the outcome of such a seismic "battle" would be, they wouldn't believe you. I know because I told my girlfriend, who had only seen season 1, about the finale, and she thought I was messing with her. That said, there are so many things to love when you put the finale in perspective. The first six episodes of s3 have to be the peak of the whole show, Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy brings an incredible performance, and not EVERY character was "ruined" or "reset" by the finale as some haters would say. The parallels and contrasts between Homelander/Butcher/Hughie/Soldier Boy are amazing, and the levels of hypocrisy and irony were unreal. Still looking forward to s4!

I remember people were getting sick of the MCU around 2015/2016 of being formulaic but now it's borderline insufferable. We're now getting at least 10 TV shows and movies every year, which is just too much. Aside from brief parts of the Multiverse of Madness, Shang-Chi, Eternals and WandaVision, directors have very little creative freedom so all these films look and feel the same. Most of the time the storytelling isn't very ambitious either. Marvel has always had a safe pretty safe narrative but with this much oversaturation, it stands out even more now The CGI looks truly awful at times since Marvel/Disney overworks CGI artists who aren't unionized and give them ridiculous deadlines and the end product leaves *a lot* to be desired The very little subtlety left of the comedy in some of the earlier MCU projects has completely vanished as well and a lot of these films/tv shows aren't fun anymore either which is the bare minimum we expected from the MCU Hell we're now living in a timeline where DC are putting out better and more varied projects than Marvel which is absolutely insane

The jokes actually worked for me a lot more in this movie than I would've expected them to. I felt like there was a better separation of jokes and serious moments than in Ragnarok where the two were often one in the same. And overall I thought the movie was pretty funny I laughed a lot. I definitely think it helps that I don't really care about the "broader MCU" anymore so it didn't bother me that it didn't move the "overarching plot" forward all that much or whatever. The humor in Thor 4 also really threw me at first, until I realized it did serve the plot. The movie is about the gods being out of touch and decadent, Thor never takes a fight seriously, when he smashes that massive glass temple it's a joke but it also reinforces why Gor is doing what he's doing. The gods in Omnipotent City are more concerned with an orgy than they are about gods dying, because they don't care and Gor is right.

The reason you agree with him a lot, is because you don't watch the videos made by people who you disagree with. You watch a video by someone who likes a movie you hate, you don't like and subscribe, and soon KZbin doesn't recommend more of their videos to you. That's how in the internet age, we have all ended up in these odd little bubbles full of only opinions we agree with. It's how political discourse got so toxic, how everything got so polarised so quickly. The internet has brought us many great things. But the ability to isolate ourselves amid only like-minded people can be outright dangerous. Tl;dr by all means, keep watching Cosmonaut Quickie. But maybe watch a few vids with different opinions too. It's healthy to always listen to sources from across the spectrum.

My problem with Thor: Love and Thunder is that they continue to do this thing with Thor where they don't know what to do with him. Is he the main character of his own movie or are they going to pass the torch? And it feels weird because there are jokes we know Thor wouldn't do that only serve to belittle him and then there are the slightly more bigger leader roles. At this point we'll get to see another thor character in the next movie but I just wish we saw beta ray Bill.

It looks like im in the minority but i still think S1 is the best season, its tight, the pacing is incredibly perfect, the plot is at its best. The next two are on par to me, like i still love the series but the cracks are starting to show imo, the S3 finale is the perfect example of what i feared the show could become. I don’t think the problem is that nothing happened, its how everything was executed, especially those last 30-25 minutes, the writing felt sloppy and you started to see a lot of plot armor and conveniences you see in a lot of shows and superhero properties.

Butcher losing V24 definitely shakes things up and only having 12 - 18 months to live, Soldier Boy's back on ice, Black Noir (If he could've fought Homelander) is maybe dead, and Maeve's lost her powers too, so perhaps Season 4'll return to Season 1

Yeah, Gorr really did carry this movie. I like how his true motivation is pretty kept under wraps in the movie. Because as we watch him and see him, and we hear all the news stuff about him, we believe that when he does the big bad nobody wants him to do, he’s gonna kill all the gods. However, there are some foreshadowed bits in his screen time that hint at his true intentions.
