"I met a girl out in the hills who gave my lonely heart a thrill Her beauty seemed just like a breath of spring And when I looked into her eyes I thought of bluest summer skies And when I held her hand in mine I heard the bluebirds sing They sang of wondering (Wondering if you love her) Will she marry (Marry if you'll ask her) Will her heart be (Heart be true for him for) then and evermore And when she's lonely (Lonely is he near her) When there's sadness (Sadness will he cheer her) Will they always (Always be together) until in death they part I courted her for months on end until she promised we would wed We planned on being married in the spring All through the long cold winter months it seemed that spring would never come And every gloomy winter day I heard the bluebirds sing They sang of waiting (Waiting for the flowers) And of counting (Counting every hour) Till the bluebird (Bluebird chirps his welcome) into the world once more And though we're waiting (Waiting for the sunshine) We keep hating (Hating every storm cloud) That has gathered (Gathered o'er the mountain) to keep us far apart And when at last spring touched the earth we were married in the village church Our wedding seemed just like a dream come true So many years have come and gone our love is still as true and strong As when I found it long ago... and still the bluebirds sing They sang of loving (Loving every hour) that I'm married (Married to my flower) We'll be happy (Happy ever after) as since the day we met And though we're older (Older love is sweeter) we grow fonder (Fonder of each other) We'll be sweethearts (Sweethearts close together) until the end of time...

I do say, 1: It was sung so right with BE-LOVED Points of love with their words, and feelings were so Great, even using the right words at the right time with the outstanding instruments that were only used with Great Country Music and even being Dressed up so right it was like saying (it was like hearing all their Great COUNTRY SONGS AT THE RIGHT PLACES LIKE MUSIC in the Wind ALL YEAR ROUND, 2: So it just going to show, that the Country Music that stands out with the FEELING of ENJOYMENT, LOVE, AND RESPECT TO BRING EACH OTHER TOGETHER AGAIN AND ALL THE TIME, RIGHT THERE, SHOWS NOWUDAYS SINGERS DON'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKE AT ALL, and now with the old time saying, "I LIKE IT, I LOVE IT, I GOT TO HEAR SOME MORE OF THE COUNTRY MUSIC SOUNDS OF MUSIC FROM THE GREAT SINGING GROUP "THE BROWNS CAUSE THEIR SONGS, THE SOUND OF THEIR BE- LOVED VOICES TOGETHER, WILL LIVE ON AS A (FEELING OF LOVE FOR LOVE) ALL THE WAY AS IF IT'S ALL HERE CAUSE WHAT WAS LOVED WILL ALL WAS LIVE ON AS WHAT REAL LOVE IS, SHOWS WHY TODAYS COUNTRY ISN'T REAL ANYWAY AS THEY HARIF AT THE MOON WITHOUT A TUNE OR BEAT. HA HA

My dad would sometimes go off in a room and play his guitar and sing. He always had his back to the door, so I would quietly stay outside the door stand and listen. This was one of his songs. Never heard the recording nor realized it was a two people song until now.

This song was still quite popular when we were married on this March 27 spring day in 1964. A blue-eyed sixteen year old married a determined 19 year old 52 years ago today. It was always "our song". And though "we grow older, we grow fonder of each other"... "And we'll be close together until in death we part". Until then, "I'm loving every hour that I'm married to my flower"...

Great song created in the early 1950s by my Alberta ranch friend, Hod Pharis. Also check out Hod's 'Call of The Mountain' and his album 'The Plainsman'. Hod Pharis passed away in 2001. His spirit live on this and other great songs he penned. - Rob Cummings

I met a girl out in the hills Who gave my lonely heart a thrill Her beauty seemed just like a breath of spring And when I looked into her eyes I thought of blue mid summer skies And when I held her hand in mine I heard the Bluebirds sing. They sang of wondering (wondering if you love her) Will she marry (marry if you ask her) Will her heart beat (heart beat for him or for) Them and ever more And when she's lonely (lonely is he near her) When there's sadness (sadness will he cheer her) Will they always (always be together) Until in death they part. I courted her for months on end Until she promised we would be wed We planned on being married in the spring All through the long cold winter months It seemed that spring would never come And every gloomy winter's day I heard the Bluebirds sing. They sang of waiting (waiting for the flowers) And of counting (counting every hour) Till the Bluebird (Bluebird brings his welcome) Into the world once more. And though we're waiting (waiting for the sunshine) We keep hating (hating every storm cloud) That has gathered (gathered on the mountain) To keep us far apart. --- Instrumental --- And when at last spring touched the earth We were married in the village church Our wedding seemed just like a dream come true So many years have come and gone Our love is still as true and strong As when I found her long ago And still the Bluebirds sing. They sang of loving (loving every hour) That I'm married (married to my flower) We'll be happy (happy ever after) As since the day we met. And though we're older (older love is sweeter) We grow fonder (fonder of each other) We'll be sweethearts (sweethearts close together) Until the end of time...
