Isn't the film studio buffed in BBG? In base game, it only kicks in when the GAME enters the modern era, which absolutely never happens against good players/deity AI. So even though BBG nerfs the bonus down to 30%, that's 30% more than you'll ever get from the default building.

According to the Civilization fandom wiki, the Film Studio's effect multiplies your tourism against any civ that has researched at least one modern-era technology or civic, and has nothing to do with the actual current game era. I can confirm that this is also how it works in BBG.

Great video as always Herson, as a Civ noob I had no idea how to use preserves properly. Out of interest is it a bad idea to get a couple of Holy Sites early for a religion to obtain work ethic or tithe to cover the mid game deficits? Or is that too slow? Can you use this strategy on other Civs? I guess maybe Kupe...

There's already a Kupe video out, so you can look at that. The thing about Kupe is that he is less reliant on appeal, merely that the land is unimproved, and naturally gets more production, so the civs play out quite differently. As for religion, Teddy doesn't naturally get a boost to competing for a religion and it's a big commitment early on when you are trying to get cities down and preserves up. Work Ethic is investing a lot of production now for production later and requires you build it in new cities when you want your first district to be a Preserve. You can get away with it without BBG, but it's not really an option when the production comes with Shrines and Temples in BBG. Groves are also particularly expensive as noted. I thought about Jesuit Education to help transform existing faith into production, but that production is going back into science/culture, which isn't what Teddy needs either. Religious Communities is another option for Holy Site lite civs, but it doesn't help much here since you aren't heavy on trade routes. Tithe or Pilgrimage are the only ones I think are noticeably beneficial, but if they are the only real bonuses, getting a religion is not worth the cost.

Is the most common map type you play Pangea? I don’t see many ocean civs on your channel, even though I think civs like kupe are great fun

The most common map is Pangea, yes. Herson already made a Kupe vid. As for other naval civs, just based on the vids (cause I also don't play MP so Herson vids are my only reference): Tokugawa is a contender for the strongest civ in the game. In that same Tokugawa vid there was a poll and I remembwr Australia is also very highly rated. Steam Victoria is heavily nerfed in BBG but I still see hee in the vids pretty frequently. Naval civs I don't think I've seen in the vids: Indonesia, Phoenicia, Portugal (but Portugal is useless in Pangaea anyway)

I tried to click on the button for the search functionality above the minimap, and somehow ended up clicking pixel-perfectly between the "toggle strategic view" and "search" buttons, triggering both at the same time, which inexplicably instantly crashed my PC. I rejoined the game and the players voted to scrap on turn 30, which passed 8-2 (I was one of the 2 "no" votes). It's definitely viable to go straight for a culture victory as this leader, even in very strong lobbies, if everything goes right. If I had gotten my hands on the Earth Goddess pantheon, my pace here might've been 2-3 turns faster and I may actually have had an additional ~5 mustangs to hold on the eastern front, and then the game may have been much more interesting. It's possible for Teddy to get a strong spawn with protective mountain ranges that create chokepoints. By deploying planes along these chokes, you can deny access to your land entirely, and even jet fighters can't reliably break through P-51 Mustangs that are benefitting from the "their finest hour" policy card. In general, this leader is at its most consistent on the Highlands map type, which spreads players further apart and tends to generate terrain that is easy to defend. This game, however, was played on Pangea, and I was unfortunate enough to spawn out in the open in the center of the map. Once I'd scouted the map I realized that it was unlikely that I'd actually win, but I had to try for the content.
