I'm new in this area, right now allmost most of the summer is booked (markets and different events). At the moment I have been on 3 markets and it's so sad when kid is asking for facepaint and parents don't allow it. My prices isn't soo high 3 to 8 euros. But otherwise I love it. When the kid finaly sees his/her face with the picture...just priceless.

Hi! I'm also convinced it is possible to make a full-time income facepainting, but need some tips. I've tried it, and am not able to work year round yet, summers and some around halloween, holidays is the best I've managed. I love the freeform art freedom I have in facepainting, and dream about making a full-time income around my chosen schedule. Thank you for any tips in bringing my facepainting business from the extra income to the full-time income stage!

Hi Karen! Such good questions! I would love to do a coaching session with you sometime and talk through what you have tried. But my best advice is to buy a book like this one! It will really show you what you can do to have a year round job! atouchofmagicentertainment.com/product/entertainment-business-magic-by-lori-hurley/

Appreciate you and your willingness to share your knowledge and experience with newbies like myself. I'm scared to death I've started this way too late in my life for it to be "successful" from a money-making standpoint. But I feel like I can at least bring some smiles to faces and that's not a bad way to spend time.

SherryL Bradford 🤦🏽♀️You are NOT alone! I too, feel that I am way older than most 👩🏽🎨Face painters, but It is all ‘Worth it for that SMILE!’ 😃 😊

Hey SherryL, I hear you. Funny thing, the voice that says you started to late speaks to all of us, it just says something different to each one! Too old, too young, not a big enough kit, too big of a kit, not enough choices- etc! Just mute that and DO what you LOVE! I hope you are feeling the love and sharing it in your face painting.

Lesley Taylor 🤷🏽♀️Yes, it is so funny 😆 I laugh at myself when she mentioned about ‘asking for help’ in areas that we struggle 🤔with within our business 😉 It just doesn’t occur to you at the time when you’re struggling 🤦🏽♀️

You are so inspiring! I have been face painting for about 4 years now just as a side gig. Started as a hobby that has grown into a little business. I am finally about to set up an LLC and become "a real business". I've been saying lately that I'd love to do this full time, but I'm not sure how I'd be able to pull it off and still get the bills paid. You make me feel like it's possible and an achievable goal. I love your designs, I love your spirit, I love your attitude... thank you for putting yourself out there. Maybe I'll have the pleasure of meeting you face to face some day.... :)

Hi Angela, I just met some artists face to face this last weekend, and it was so much fun! Your journey sounds wonderful and fulfilling. You can definitely make it happen. Wait until after this crazy virus goes away though! I hope I can help you more on your way! Doing what you love is the best.

My daughter and I recently have become very interested in learning face painting. I’ve tried reaching out to face painters in my area to see if they’re willing to teach. And I’ve been told no, and to go to KZbin. It’s so discouraging to feel like no one wants to help. We’ve tried KZbin but it isn’t that easy.

Hi Monica, You are not alone! Face painting is much easier to find friends online than it is local sometimes- have you thought of joining a group online? I teach every Monday live (you can join my youtube class group if you want! details if you click the join button on the channel page) Additionally I know the international face paint school does an incredible job of teaching. Hang in there, it is worth it!

Hi again Laura! I stopped back on here to ask about two things in particular that I was thinking of doing to invest in my face painting business. One, would you recommend a vinyl sign that is VERTICAL OR HORIZONTAL? I don't want to waste money on something that won't serve it's purpose. I mostly paint at private events so it cannot be too large and it also has to double if I have to take it outdoors to a park or event. I have looked at Vistaprint but am not sure which banner setup to get...the L, H, or X style for vertical or the grommet one for the horizontal. Two, when is it not ok to set out a tip jar? I don't do it at birthday parties but a couple mom's said that I should have. I mean who doesn't want more money but, I don't want to appear to be tacky or greedy. Thanks so much! You are always a great help and total inspiration. xoxo

Hi Keri- these are great questions. I am happy to give you my thoughts. First- the vertical vs horizonal question. If you are working outdoors wind is an issue, and vertical signs love to fall over and are much harder to stake down. Depending on how you do your set-up, would you consider making a frame that fits the back of your Directors chair? You want a sign that is easy to read. I tend to go horizontal, but I work mostly outside, and have a flyer/card that I use to pass on info when I work at private events. #2- great question! I feel like you let your gut tell you, and that it varies from artist to artist. No matter what you do, some people will be turned off, so don't let that stop you. I let the % of my rate be the guide. If I am being paid my full rate, I usually don't have a tip jar out. I still accept a tip if it is offered. Having a cup, or small bowl nestled among your paints with a dollar in it is a great way to gently say yes you can tip me, without asking for it. Have a blessed day.

Hello! Do we need to take any insurance for face painting business?
@fairyfox2 жыл бұрын
I would totally do it. Insurance is a great way to stay safe. Body works has a policy for only $100/year. Worth the peace of mind. Larger events also require it.

It depends on where you are located, i recommend finding a local painter and asking them.
