I am only 71 years old. Basically, I am a "60's boy." During the 1960's, I saw live performances by Cream (at Fillmore Auditoreum and also at Oakland Arena), by the Grateful Dead and by Jefferson Airplane (both at one show at Winterland), by Led Zeppelin at Winterland in San Francisco, and by The Byrds at Rollarena in San Leandro, California. I also saw Country Joe and the Fish performing at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. I love your statement, "I still get chills when I hear Turn Turn Turn . . ." After reading this statement, my face began to wrinkle up, and I felt like I was about to cry with joy and nostalgia.

I came of age with McGuinn and the Byrds...saw CSNY in Chicago 1969. Sat in Dylan's motel room after-party 1970 with Maria Muldaur, and Janis Ian. Those were the days!

David Crosby was a gift to us all, but he had a habit of alienating those closest to him. In this performance, McGuinn pointedly directs his gaze at Crosby as sings, ...a time for peace, I swear it's not too late. Nice to see that.

Thats why I dont like going too deep into their bios. Crosby had a nasty drug habit that I did not need or want to read about and burned a lot of bridges. I do like that he was so opinionated. Watched him interviewed and could see a sharp mind that had little filter. Some people dont like that. I was not of the generation that birthed his celebrity, younger
@lauraokeefe2698 Жыл бұрын
@@needahandle It's amazing that Crosby survived those terrible years of addiction, and I get what you mean about that part of his life story. But once he got sober (and imagine going cold turkey in prison), he stayed that way, as did his partner, Jan, and they married and remained together until his death. And he returned to writing and performing music, much of it as good as his earlier output. Crosby knew he'd received a second chance and he didn't squander it. That's impressive, and that's the aspect of his biography that I respect the most.
