This was a pretty epic setup. I have the same issues going on with a 59 Apache. Its nice to see someone have this much rust and deal with it in such a calm manor. Nice, bodywork and fabrication, I do more of that anymore along side machining than I do actual engine work. You guys should build a custom chassis for a project, that's what got me started welding back in early highschool building chassis' for deathtrap VW Beetles to sit on top of. My first build was swapping the rear facing transaxle and rear engine for a transfer transaxle and engine to make a midengine beetle with a custom chassis using a lot of Audi parts. I don't wanna brag but it never caught fire so highschool me had one up on my friend that was building a 3800 series 2 Fiero. After that I did a RWD build moving the VW 1600 to the front, flipping it around, and adapting it to a GM transmission. Now I've got a front engine 1.8t 225 quattro powertrain bolted into a custom chassis/cage with a 70's Super Beetle shell with rear mounted cooling. I might have a slight obsession with Beetles; Beetles, Wagons, and Vans >.>.

Awesome. And, you saved a bunch by using an Ace Hardware(?) wheelbarrow.

It's funny that you're wearing one of Al's shirts when doing that... He hates bodywork so much 🤣🤣👌

If people have a problem with you rescuing that cab and along the way you customize it for your own use, they can get out of their armchairs and build something themselves.

Most of the time I do metal work I end up with poor fitting and massive overlap. Is still does the job. And I don’t know if I really care to grind and cut for a whole extra day just to make it look perfect. But I think I’ve done ok considering I don’t even have a vice lol

A vice is the most important tool of any workshop..Everytime I'm at someones garage that doesn't have one, I immediately miss it.

Takes YEARS of practice. Been doing it for 15 years now and learned a lot of tricks along the way. The hardest was adding and subtracting when bending sheet metal. Doesn't mean I don't make mistakes occasionally but hey thats part of the trade. Keep at it and never give up!

i really liked the over head of doing both sides, so we know it got done but wasnt a boring way of presenting it of just saying it was done off camera etc.
