Top tip. Before you put the floor down. Run some plastic conduit and two lengths of food grade hose pipe from cab bulkhead to the rear doors.. Put a length of paracord inside each piece of conduit. Then, at a later date, if you want to run extra wires or have water run from a tank to a tap you don't have to lift the flooring up.

Hello mate, I’ve converted exactly the same van. Don’t forget to take the external lower plastics off and silicone seal around the plastic lugs that attach them to the van body, they will let water in over time.

Screw lengths of 40mm x 20mm batten at 18inch spacing lengthwise down the floor. Stick patches of dynamat shiny backed sound deadening straight to the sheet metal between the battens. You can then screw your yellow tongue floor boards width ways across the van direct to the battens without making more holes in the metal floor. (Dont forget the conduit and mark on the floor where they run. Also stick patches of dynamat to each large flat area of flat sheetmetal on the walls and roof. Your ears will thank you for the soundproofing when you drive in a large hollow drum without a cab bulkhead.

Shaun, please consider making some kind of shelving behind your seat and your wife’s seat which still allows you good access through to the cabin. Or cut a nice big access hole in the existing bulkhead and reuse and then put rubber edging on the exposed cut metal. You really don’t want stuff flying through from the back hitting you on the head in an accident as you wouldn’t know much about it. On a positive note, 😂 I’m looking forward to following your build! 😊

One good way I've found to treat those drill holes in the floor and wheel arches is to cut some 25mm patches of thin plastic trim and stick them over the holes using sikalastomer 710 which stays tacky like mastic and will never leak again

Looking forward to watch the progress on this project. If you are just putting a floor straight down you could stick your batons down to the van floor with a PU adhesive ( same stuff they stick car windows in with and sports cars together with ) will save screwing through the body, same with some other stuff you might be fitting. Also plenty of space under the passenger seats for batterys/inverter.

Maybe I'm too late. But there is no need for battens on floor. Just glue the pir board to metal battens you've already got. Far quicker. More stable as there are far more metal areas to glue to than battens you'll be putting down. Plus perfectly flat floor to put ply on. Glue that down as well. And cheaper

Stick the floor batons with a PU adhesive... And please DON'T use a mastic to fill the holes through any metalwork.... If you're wondering how to fix the floor, I think we cover that in episode 3 (or 4) of our build series of vlogs. I'm not suggesting its the only way of fitting it but, it's always good to share ideas. Good luck with it all. Mal, Ruth and Raffy (Campervan Habitude)

@ Jimmy the Jock I have used Waxoyl in the past but wasn't very impressed with it as I believe from memory you had to use white spirit to be able to thin it enough to spray it. I most certainly would not want to sleep inside a vehicle if there was any possibility of white spirit fumes leaking inside the vehicle whilst I might be asleep I will be looking into the suitability of a product called lanoguard or dinitrol I would be pleased to receive your comments thank you

@@LoveSundays I've had Dinitrol recommended for treating the underbody of cars - a quick Google suggests Waxoyl can give off an oil smell in hot weather, whereas Dinitrol stops smelling after the solvent has evaporated. I think Waxoyl was the best in the 90's, but may have been overtaken by Dinitrol ... Hope this helps - great to see you get started, and I'm impressed with the progress you made over a couple of days, especially making light work of the bulkhead

Just a note from a mechanic. Check the service history of your van, check that you 'Wet belt' has been renewed. Normally at around 80,000 miles this would need to be renewed. Ford, in their wisdom, have decided that a belt submerged in oil would be better than a chain or a conventional 'cam belt'. These do fail and render the engine useless. Quite an expensive job, and Ford know they've a problem with these belts, and in some cases have renewed under warranty. Please don't ignore this belt, look it up, Google it, KZbin it. It's a good move to do it before it fails. Keep up the content dude, love seeing Cornwall. MSG me if you need any advice. 👍

Good morning nice video to see a nice trip out can I just recommend something to you I don't know if you've done it already but when you do the electrics I would do a 12 hours for your basic stuff and a 240-volt loom for your big outlets and then do a battery transfer system so we make it look nice with bright lights with LEDs and you got 240 V because you can get a little mini generator when you are on campsite or you're on a site that you're allowed a little bit noise. And if you are going to be put in a small cooker in I hope you can put one in with a basic backup system for like an induction hob Oh by the way you was in Falmouth and I know where you was and it was a fantastic location you should pop to Bude and let people know cos we're only about an hour away from

"Pretty much keeping as wood as I can".... Die wheel arch cover!😀 I think you are right to take your time. It's much better for the content. It also gives your viewers more time to suggest ideas before you have already done something.
