Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of Canada and is independent in her role from the United Kingdom. Canada has no ties to British parliament any more and British ministers cannot advise Her Majesty on affairs for Canada. Even if the United Kingdom became a republic the Queen would still be Canada's head of state.
