I met Walter back in 2020 at the NAMM Show and was totally stoked. I asked him if I could have a pic, he hesitated a second while reaching in his pocket and gave me one of his signature picks 😀And my dumb ass meant a selfie - glad he was so old school! Holding it dearly! AND got a selfie afterwards - coolest dude ever 😀and absolute shredder!

I saw John Mayall and Walter play in the late 80s. One of the best gigs ever. Mayall in those days was at his peak..fit, energetic..stood at a keyboard had a guitar slung over his back, harmonica holder and singing..pretty much did it all. Walter had to be good, or he wouldn't have been asked to Join..Mayall always finds the who's who of guitarists in every decade. living legend..seen him a few years ago..still doing it.

Been seeing Walter for 30 years. When I saw him at Holmfirth 3 years ago, I couldn't see how he would get through the show without dying. I cried and cheered like never before. The man is a blues warrior. He has faced true adversity and kicked it up the arse. Never shy of coming out and talking to the fans after a show. Just a great great man. Thank you Walter and Fuck the American healthcare system that denied you what you needed. I always knew that you had the family and friends to help and your recovery has been inspiring. I know one day you and the strat will go make music with Jimmy again, but I want to see you a whole load more times before that !!!!

Great interview. I've been a Walter Trout fan since I first saw him with Mayall 35 years ago. I knew of his near death saga but I had no idea of his history before Mayall. What a story! Someone needs to do a movie about his life while he is still around to play the soundtrack. I submit that you will NEVER find 2 co-lead players as great as Walter Trout and Coco Montoya with the Bluesbreakers. Seeing them live transcended guitar, blues, music of any kind, or art of any kind. The sound of Strat & Flying V, the emotion...it was just magic. Bless you Walter, play on!

Amazing story of getting sober and surviving his illness. The story with Carlos Santana was very humbling and inspiring. It’s very touching to me me as my younger brother died ten years ago from alcoholism. And I’ve had my off and on issues. I’ve been sober for two years . Hearing Walter’s story has been an inspiration. I know I’ve been very blessed to still be here . The deal is respect and honor our blessings. We are alive and it doesn’t last forever. Take time to understand what a miracle life is . Take time to understand what a miracle you are . Whoever might read this understand that each breath we take is a gift given. Take Care Everybody 🙏👌😊❤️

I absolutely loved this interview. I met Walter back in the early 1990s through a mutual friend, the late Harmonica Manny. Walter was playing Perqs in Huntington Beach CA and Many insisted that I come down and check him out. I'm really glad I did. At the time, I didn't realize how lucky I was to be having a smoke break with the band in the ally between sets. I've been a fan ever since. I also had no idea of Walter's personal story. But as I will be sober 38 years this month, to say I relate would be an understatement. I should point out that the story of Carlos being Walter's Eskimo brought tears of joy to me. Good stuff! I want to thank Andertons for more inspiring and educational content. And thank Walter also. I had no idea at the time but meeting Walter and hearing his gift must have affected me. I got to play guitar at Perqs just this year. It totally brought back that memory from the 90s.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Walter Trout twice at the North Atlantic Blues Festival in Maine. Once before his liver trouble and then a few years after. What a great and revealing interview. Plus I knew about Jesse Ed Davis but had no idea that he played on all those famous songs. What a great chat. Plus Walter always plays like an absolute beast. Such energy and life and in his playing. The first time he was supposed to play in 2007 and was preceded by his friend, Coco Montoya. A nor'easter was blowing in, and almost blew over Coco! So they ended early before Walter. So he came back the very next year! He worked it out and we loved that. Then he came back a second time a few years after his liver transplant and played great again! His son joined him on stage and they both blew us all away! Super nice guy and an absolute talent!
