After watching twelve of the cardigans songs i can truly admit that this band is super uderrated
@justinhunt17143 жыл бұрын
They seemingly went downhill after the first album. Great musicanship and recording on this album 'Life' . Later albums seemed less colorful, organic, and upbeat. But yeah I think they were huge in their native country (sweden?)

Wow, didnt know it was that old. Im pretty young so thats probably why, but still

The pre-chorus of this version has more power and drive somehow. It really takes the song to another level without sounding that different at all.
@miniclip79514 жыл бұрын
Wow, i thought i was the only one. There was just *something* different about the other version - still great, but this one is my favorite out of the two

Yeah it seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I think this version is so much better.
@HarpsichordDrone Жыл бұрын
This version is how I first heard it so I'm biased but I can't really listen to the other version. Though good on its own It's too rough. Just doesn't hold the same magic in comparison.
@quagsnake Жыл бұрын
@@HarpsichordDrone Yeah same here, I heard this version first. Also, Nina's voice seems so thin and quite strained in that original version, as though she was yet to find the true potential in her voice, which I guess is understandable considering how young she was.

There's so many things about this version that I love. The little parts where it sounds out of tune, the way the melody is slightly different from the original and the ending in this version sounds more fitting.

I want to be alone for a while I want earth to breathe to me I want the waves to grow loud I want the sun to bleed down To bleed down See the waves go down See the moon alone See the world unshown I raise my head and whisper Rise and shine! -Rise and shine!- Rise and shine my sister! Rise and shine! -Rise and shine!- Rise and shine my sister! Rise and shine! -Rise and shine!- Rise and shine my sister! Rise and shine! -Rise and shine!- Rise and shine! I want to see the wounded moon I want the sea to break through I want it all to be gone tomorrow So I've come to say goodbye See the waves go down See the moon alone See the world unshown I raise my head and whisper Rise and shine! -Rise and shine!- Rise and shine my sister! I get that they were trying to improve upon the original version with this one's slightly more complex arrangement and more emphatic vocal, but I prefer the first version's more straight-ahead quality and pure vocal take! Still a great tune no matter what, though.
@candideggplant15752 жыл бұрын
I think some of it also had to do with Life finally being sold in other countries so they wanted to get some of the songs from the first album out there but both versions have their own little things here and there, this one the drumming is more crisp and they have more vocals but the original definitely is more straightforward.
i love this music video so much bc the start is just nina persson talking to some japanese man, absolutely befuddled as to what she's saying, and the rest of it is just the whole band's shenanigans in japan
