Bro, you have brought out some interesting aspects. But you first speak of carnatic music as "Nadopasana". In the same breath, you have dismissed it as just an "art form", dismissing the divinity which is at its core. How can one sing in praise of Rama in one song and in the very next song, extol someone who garlanded Rama's vigraham with chappals. Your arguments are too shallow and fragile. More importantly, has MMA changed its core ideologies so much that they choose to award someone who is experimenting with carnatic music as per his whims and fancies while there are hundreds of those who are pursuing the traditional journey. And since when did they start rewarding people for the so called social reforms? Nobody questions or is bothered about TMK doing his experiments on the sidelines.

TMK is not the first person to change things in the music circles.... Before him MDR, MBK, GNB, CVB.... All have given their own contributions towards changes to the system. Ariyakkudi gave concerts structure, as it is today, which was the requirement of the times considering how the public needed to keep interest in the art form. What TMK has done is take it back to the earlier times when a single piece used to be sung for longer periods with the musician exploring the piece. The referred people also changed but never dwelt in slandering through media on topics that are in no way relevant to the experiments he does. The same was only publicity mongering. Jugalbandis have happened between carnatic music and other forms earlier too. Periyar...rationality and anti-casteist... That's humbug.. He is the biggest hypocrite and bigot... here there are places where you have contradicted yourself. Your thoughts are respected about the art form...... Don't be a mouthpiece to a hypocrite.... Try to be yourself....... Earn respect that way. All in all, if your effort was to justify TMK through your soliloquay, you failed miserably....i disagree that TMK is an artist.... In fact he is experimenting with music while others are in fact enriching it with their artistic expression...... Activism is not artistic expression.

So purpose of art is to make songs on people who called for GENOCIDE. Is it? This is kiddish. Had he made a song on Ambedkar, it would be fine. Dr Ambedkar is a great person who spoke about abolishing Caste system, but this chap EVR spoke about eliminating a community. Sorry both are not same. TMK is misusing his position and status in praising a person who wanted to eliminate Iyers and Iyengars. This cannot be accepted at all. How about someone making a song on OSAMA BIN LADEN?

I applaud your interpretation of the talent and ideology of TMK. He is actually a crusader and striving for the good of Carnatic music stretching its frontier and also wanting to awaken the society for its greater good. Have the heart and ears to listen and digest and the truth will receal. He is not against Brahmins or the yesteryear greats. He calls out the ills of the system and the gaps.
