After seeing my "works", the Carolina Hurricanes organization (or at least someone impersonating them) requested my services to help assist in the team's advertising efforts for the home stretch of the season. The following video was the result of such efforts.

As funny as your comment is, Trudeau was actually more concerned with getting a 50/50 gender parity (or as close as you can with 31 cabinet positions) than with having "token" ethnic minorities - also because, unlike in the states, you actually need to choose Cabinet Ministers (equivalent of Secretaries) from the pool of elected MPs in your own party. There were some visible minorities in the initial cabinet picks, they were chosen for experience first and ethnicity second (eg Minister of National Defence Harjit Sajjan had years of experience with the Canadian military, serving two tours in Bosnia and Afghanistan, and was also a detective with the Vancouver police).

The sad thing about Carolina - as a Hurricanes fan - is that it can be a hockey market. The problem is we haven't had a product good enough for anyone to care. Missing the playoffs 8 straight years will do that to you. The early 2000s that arena was sold out and electric. Our 2 trips to the finals the building was so loud it broke records. The entire arena stood for the entirety of Game 7 in 2006. Great video though, everything you said was 100% true.

Rob Hruska I go to a game every year. It's personally all I can afford, it's sad to see people not go, but it's inevitable when they've missed the playoffs this long. You go around and ask people and they'll all say they like the canes, but have they been to a game this year? Less than half of them probably haven't. They're improving as a team and within the next few years we should be a actual contender and fans will start to attend again. But until we start winning? Not much will change

Canes fan- That last sidenote had me in tears. This video is painfully accurate. We're capable of being a hockey market, the team is just seemingly incapable of, you know, WINNING. Ron Francis has the franchise headed in the right direction, and I really like most of the moves he's made as GM, but we've been "rebuilding" for 6 or 7 years now. It's been too long. They need to win games to get butts in seats. The fans won't show up to see a losing product.

Unless there is an active attraction or a winner on the ice, nobody will show up unless it's a diehard hockey area like Toronto. Most areas have had this issue at some point in time. To be a viable entertainment option, you have to entertain. It doesn't matter if you're in LA or Raleigh. If you're lifeless and boring, there will be plenty of empty seats.

Max Goren you haven't dealt with long rebuilds unless your and Islanders fan. UrinatingTree a diehard hockey area. Gee doesn't that sound like the Northeast, more specifically Hartford? The Whalers still have a large fan base in Connecticut. Yeah sure we have teams that are big in Connecticut like the Bruins and Rangers but the Whalers were what people in CT felt were their team. You can drive through the streets of Hartford and find numerous people wearing Whalers jerseys. Hartford is the 30th largest media market in the country and the largest without a big four team. FiveThirtyEight found that 175,000 avid NHL fans live in Connecticut, a comparable size to Nashville, Miami, Columbus, and Raleigh. Hartford is perfect for the NHL because it's right between New York and Boston, creating an instant rivalry which is something that happened when the Whalers were around. Bruins vs Whalers and Rangers vs Whalers games drew the largest crowds. Two things are needed to create a rivalry, 1 being proximity (Giants vs Dodgers, Celtics vs 76ers, Giants vs Eagles, Red Sox vs Yankees, Canadiens vs Bruins, all these teams are close together) and 2.) play a lot of games against each other. While the Whalers weren't very good, they still had a large diehard fan base that celebrated every good thing they did. When Karmanos announced that unless they sold 11,000 season tickets, they would move, people bought 8,000 despite Karmanos getting rid of the cheaper packages that had less games. The only thing that was hated about the Whalers was Karmanos. Everyone else absolutely loved them. Plus they had the best logo in NHL history to go with one of the best songs in NHL history.

The sad thing is it didn't have to be this way. I moved to Raleigh about a year before the Canes won in 2006 and I could see there was clearly an appetite for Hockey in the city. The growth of Youth Hockey organizations in the area is proof of that. I think if the Hurricanes management actually start giving a shit about winning again, the PNC Arena will be packed once again.

Well now the Hurricanes are a beyond elite group that pisses us off by their sheer power, mainly Raleigh becoming heaven for goalies as seen by Freddy and Rantaa this year who have rebounded after a bit of mediocrity, and Nedeljkovic, who on a team that isn’t the Canes is letting in own goals off himself and being the main headliner of 2 10+ allowed goal games for the Wings, you can thank the Canes defence for making team a goalies paradise. Sam Mattox The Astros would be a definite no now, the Rockets consistently have good seasons they just often run into better teams so no, Texans yes (for various reasons), the Dynamo nobody knows about, Dash same thing, the only other ones are the defunct ones(Comets who are really a rise and fall story but their rise was so historic that it kind of outweighs the fall, Aeros, Oilers) but Houston's never really a bad sports town, you could have made a case during the Astros in 2011-13 but now you really can't. The only Houston team you can really make fun of is the Texans and that's it.
