WOW! I first heard this song 50 years ago. Glad to see that Karen is not forgotten. She had the voice of an angel, that always touched the emotions deep in my heart and soul. Karen had that God Given Voice, and God gave us Karen to enjoy for a few years. RIP, Karen.

Karen Carpenter - Her eloquent and expressive voice in the contralto vocal range had a richness that no female pop singer ever has matched. Her singing style was incredibly beautiful and compelling - a true talent to be sure!

well put! surely the most rich, pure, movingly intimate, warmth, beautiful voice ever... as her brother stated her voice was "phono-genic" and herb albert stating she made you feel she was sitting in your lap and singing only to you! greatest female "crooner" of love and romance songs ever... looking for love, finding love and losing love...

Like others have said.. another great song .Karen Carpenter's voice is amazing.. She had such a unique refined voice... In the beginning her claim to fame was that she was a drummer.. I think she played all of, or most of the drums on their 1st album... Her biography is a amazing story.. And on a lighter note they used this song in a segment of the movie Tommy boy... Very funny...

My Sweet Enoma, You have just listened to the voice of an angel. It sounds a bit cliche, but how else can you describe it. I'm happy you did a little research on Karen and The Carpenters. It's good to be informed. God Bless
@roseunderwood62984 жыл бұрын
The Carpenters was one of my favorite groups coming up as a teenager because she was the first female I saw as a drummer. I don't feel that way, because everything in life involves choices which will determines outcomes of either life of death. Sometimes, we choose things that can harm us, and we may not even know these choices can harm us. Yet, at other times we choose things we know can harm us. So, whether or not we have that understanding of not, choices can change the direction of our life, so choose wisely; observe diligently; listen in hopes to increase in knowledge. Even considering all of these things, all of us will experience all our share of experiences! By the way, I enjoyed your review! The Flower 🌹

You have to listen and react to Luther Vandross version of the song. He took this song to another level. It’s a masterpiece. One of the Greatest Makeovers in music. You will be amazed I promise.
@jacquelinebell64674 жыл бұрын
@pm not taking anything away from the great Karen Carpenter particularly as the original songwriter. I grew up listening to the amazing duo that is of her and her brother. I’m an avid music lover of all genres of music being a singer myself. Karen was a master in her own right! But Luther was a master too. However in my opinion and in the opinion of many others overwhelmingly, Luther took this song to next level.. It’s almost a completely different song. It’s kind of like Dolly Parton’s “I will Always Love You” and Whitney Houston”s rendition. I love both versions. In fact Dolly’s version was one of my favorite songs to sing as a kid. But Whitney’s rendition of the song was heart stopping and brought her version to next level. Nevertheless, it was never my intention to offend the greatness of our beloved Karen Carpenter. I’m just speaking truth about Luther’s version of the song. Regards.

Supposedly this song was written by Rita Coolidge, as she says herself and it was taken away without her knowledge....anyways Karen's version sold over a million copies, becoming their 5th Gold Million Selling Single, hit #2 on the Billboard Top 100 and Number One on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Charts and I believe might have been nominated for a Grammy Award....she had a stellar voice!!!

This song was originally titled ‘ (Groupie) Superstar’, and recorded by Delaney and Bonnie in 1969. The song was the story of a groupie who holds a strong love for a rock musician who left her. The most famous version is by the Carpenters, after Richard heard Bette Midler’s cover.
