Perfect pitch. No autotune. No gimmicks. Clear, crisp lyrics. No annoying vibralto, falsetto, scratchy voice, just singing. Someone you can sing along with, music you can dance to or whistle along with if that's what floats your boat. Such a shame that when she screwed up the courage to step out from behind the drums, people felt the need to comment on her appearance. I would guess that most of us who first heard her on the radio never cared a bit what she looked like. She died before my kids were born. I didn't have time to listen to her music with them but you bet my grandchildren will know who she was. Jeez I miss hearing her.

@jamesbarbour84007 ай бұрын
Exactly - a case of less is more - todays' so called 'artists' could learn a thing or two from KC. Several years ago now, there was a Beatles cover album, orchestrated by George Martin himself, with various contemporary singers doing one song each. 'Here, there and everywhere' was covered by Celine Dion. George Martin is alleged to have told her to rein in her usual 'theatrical tendencies' and the song is so much better for it. An excellent, restrained cover version by an excellent singer. The best cover on the album in my opinion. Definitely worth a listen. Karen Carpenter herself actually had quite a large vocal range, but in her own words, the lower register was where the money was at. Whilst she could doubtless have challenged the amazing Christine Aguilera, she purposely kept things low key, instinctively knowing just what a particular song needed, without adding superflous runs etc.
