I met Orr once in the late 1980s, he was just sitting alone at a nightclub, so I went up and asked him how the tour was going along with some other small talk, think he was waiting for a couple of ladies to show up, told me he wanted to get out of the hotel for a while, he seemed kinda shy, but was a good dude

HELLO AGAIN - and as this goes I had to listen several times. I hear the breath in there and it just hits me - hmm- this is a very live Ben breathing life into the music so well written by Ocasek and sometimes Hawkes as the rule went. But this is a performance all onto itself as melodic as it gets with the bass and Ben singing - I can honestly say this is just is a testament to what a bassist he was - isolated like this you never can hear this in the major mix with Elliot's lightning riffs Greg's keys wizardry and the speed drilling drum's David pound's by in tempo. This is so great to hear - again - THANK YOU AND a major LIKE!

I love this. Yet another one where it shows just how great a sound he got out of the bass. Love this bassline. The isolated vocals always get to me. Great voice and somehow, makes you feel closer to the human being actually singing the song, there's an intimacy.

That's exactly how I felt, it is interesting what a friend of mine wrote about these vocal tracks , I am sure Brett won't mind me quoting some of his comments like : " I hear the breath in there and it just hits me - hmm- this is a very live Ben breathing life into the music " and about Just What I Needed kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2GbaXpridh9qKs Brett wrote "The breaths and nuances we don't normally hear in the song - the one particular that has leaped out is the area of " Yeah , yeah so bleed me.." and downward to the end. Always a great ad-libber and the bare bones version offers more inflection on the delivery. " I think Brett said it so well and your comment about the intimacy are so true, making the listener somehow feel closer to the human being singing this song.

@@benjaminorrelectricangelro5493 I’ve been playing bass for over 30 years and I like imperfections in playing. It adds character and soul to a song. Today’s recordings are too perfect to the point of being sterile. You gotta let the music breathe and live!

@@RFXLR Nice to hear from you, my husband has been playing bass now for over 40 years although the guitar and singing have been his main role in bands but he also was bassist lead vocalist in several bands as well. It has been on radio all over the world and the video has not even been finished so I feel pretty proud right now :D. I think there are still some treasures to be found with some music these days as not everyone likes to let music be so perfect it is almost sterile, as you said music needs to breathe and for me these bass vocal recordings with Benjamin really are that " ALIVE" and somehow magical because of this.
