The blue indices are totally a Casio styling cue. I personally like how they look on that watch and I think they're a nice departure from the typical polished indices that everyone else does. I like that Casio will often try and do things that other companies won't.

The shining blue on the indices is one of the things that separates other watches from this one, in a good way. I kind of get what nick is saying about the toy-like, but I feel that's a stretch. Those indices are what make me think "damn, that's a nice looking watch" at first impressions.

I somehow ended up on this and the original video, while looking for an all purpose quartz watch(something I can grab and go that will fit all occasion). I decided to give it a try, and this watch has completely blown past my expectations. It feels as light as the grand seiko snowflake, so very slim(though admittedly I'm comparing against the mechanical watches), bracelet is excellent, the case finishing is memorizing, and I'm loving the self updating atomic accuracy. I thought the blue would bother me, but it's not as noticeable until it really catches the light and when it does catch the light it's almost jewel like. It's fulfilling it's role perfectly if not better, and I can not be more happier that I came back to an oldie.

Couldn't help but notice that the Omega quartz misses the mark(s) while the Casio is bang on. I also like the blue bits too, subtle, classy. I would like to see what a 'notched' leather band looks like on this one. I'm torn to wait for an update to the band/case (which one might presume is coming) or just jump in. I used to be a pretentious jackass, but I'm finding that going with quartz is more satisfying overall. I don't have to worry about syncing up mechanicals and I can avoid the inevitable maintenance costs. Now I just need to purge myself of the mechanicals I've accumulated over the years. I've come to a realization that most higher tier watches add features with a promise of greater accuracy but they never are willing to state the accuracy improvement up front. I'm always left unimpressed by the experience. The only exceptions I have encountered personally are the Omega Master Chronometers, Nomos, and Lange. They still seem to care about making a very accurate watch. I'm not trying to exclude others...I just can't comment on them and don't want to call out the disappointments.

I Was looking to buy this watch but I decided to go with a Citizen eco drive radio controlled watch for about 229 compared to the Oceanus for 500 and you have to buy the Oceanus from Japan. The citizen has the same featured including a sapphire crystal for much less obviously. Also, Citizen makes satellite watches which give you exact time ANYWHERE since you are using a satellite in galaxy far far away compared to atomic where there are about what 6 locations worldwide that gets a signal from a ground transmitter. If you are not in one of those areas in the world then you just have a quartz watch, which is still very accurate. Yup. Nick I have researching watches now and have started to switch over. As far as Orient Mako USA II I bought.. DO not know what you guys rave about, but I was not that hip on it. This one is so constantly accurate I use it to set my Rolex Date adjust, Breitling Navitimer, Omega Railmaster Trilogy and Mont Blanc Day/Date. They are all excellent mechanical watches - but like all in their breed they tend to gain or loose a few seconds a week. So if I want them to be accurate to the second...And if they aren’t what’s the point?....I pick up the Oceanus and use it to set the one going on the wrist that day. The Oceanus is feather light compared to the mechanicals, looks terrific and is tough as nails in terms of shock resistance. Not mad for the ‘tough movement” lettering...but so it goes...and I don’t particularly care about the proprietary bracelet. As you...the ever interesting Nick Shabazz declare..’it’s a gem’. Truly.

I own this watch and it is really great. I’m rough with my watches and after 2 months there are a few tiny dents in the bezel. Hard to see except in full sunlight. My previous watch was a G-shock which took all of my abuse with no obvious dings. However, I just compared their time and the G-shock is off a few minutes. No surprise since it is only good to +/- 15 seconds a month. Furthermore, it can be off 15 seconds every month so can pick up 3 minutes per year. The S100-1AJF has no long term drift as long as it gets its radio signal. I can live just fine with a watch that is off 15 second but not when the error keeps adding. So my G-shock now stays in a drawer and I only wear my Oceanus.

I can see how some might not want a watch with a phonetic "geezer" in the name, a watch with a name that sounds like what someone would call BDSM with a drifter, or a watch that has "anus" in the name (especially if you pronounce it with a hard "A" instead of a soft "a", which is possible of someone who is reading the name for the first time), lol.
