I've never been. I do know from friends that it's no joke on GT. Dues and major grind required tenfold. Same with Roosters. To be able to connect and land DIY is a major accomplishment. Congratulations!!! BTW your lady is a gem!!!
@PhelpsontheFly3 күн бұрын
Much appreciated, Rory. It takes a true angler to fully understand the difficulty of any challenging pursuit on the fly. I feel lucky to have landed both the GT and my Wife. Cheers!

Outstanding trip, and video! Considering a similar trip for my honeymoon, but a bit concerned about prevailing weather patterns. What time of the year was this? i.e. was it during the rainy "off" season?

Is that a guideline saline rod you're casting ?
@PhelpsontheFly3 күн бұрын
Correct. #8 NT-11 for bones and #12 LPX Coastal for geets
@nicothiry46673 күн бұрын
How do you like the saline ? Looking for a 12# for an upcomming trip to seychelles and i think it will suit my casting style better than the coastal . Wich i find a little to soft for me . I love guideline rods . I own 2 lpx predators and i find them the easiest and best casting rods i own or ever casted . Congrats with your nice gt

anyone know what wading shoes they're wearing?
@stevepitts79983 күн бұрын
They look like the salt version of the Orvis Pro Approach Hiker (not Simms)
@PhelpsontheFly3 күн бұрын
Correct. This was the first trip for me in these boots and they held up surprisingly well. My old Simms boots were heavy and these are a lot lighter. It makes a big difference when wading all day, every day. By the end of a DIY trip I oftentimes have lower back pain from wading, and I had none after this trip.

🌴well you two it seems that tying flys and fly fishing are a lot like getting married 🤔 🫱🏼 there’s the excitement and thrill of the meeting each other , then it blossoms into love and can’t wait to be to see what happens next , the anticipation of trying something new , and then the hook up ! As time goes by you learn all about each other , and the hook ups are more often , sure there’s days that aren’t always perfect but you work through it for the next day, over time everything gets in sink as you now have experience and know just what it takes to make things successful, and don’t forget it’s all about the memories that you occur over time , and it all started just like when you tied that favorite bait fish pattern by tying the knot ! 💍 👍🏼 good Luck you two , my anniversary was yesterday 17 yrs :)
