Less than a year ago, I was at a restaurant with friends, and some were commenting on one guy's watch. Then someone said, "Yeah, not many people wear watches anymore." Then I said, "Why would you need a watch? We have cell phones now." Yeah, I was _that guy._ With that ignorant, cliched statement. Then in mid-July, I was browsing Amazon on Prime Day and couldn't find anything I wanted to buy. Then I saw a gorgeous silver Casio Edifice chronograph that retailed for over $200 and it was only $45. My brother likes watches, but he mostly collected just a few old pocket watches. I thought, "I'll buy this for my brother for Christmas." Christmas done, there! :) When I got the watch, I kept taking it out of the box and looking at it and, bam! Addicted to horology! :) Then I thought, "Hmm I actually have a use for a watch, because I am having trouble completing all of my tasks at work." Like, every day I have to cancel half of the tasks I plan on completing because there just isn't enough time. I realized that being able to just check the time with a flick of my wrist, versus taking my phone out of my pocket, hitting the power button, looking at it, turning it back off, putting it back in my pocket.... blah, blah, blah. Now I can improve my time management by constantly tracking the time and my progress. So I bought myself a cheap Timex Weekender. I kept looking at that beautiful Casi Edifice though. Then I thought this thing is quartz. (Previously not even really considering that there are quartz watches and mechanical watches.) I thought, "My brother, a collector, needs a mechanical watch." And, while i'm at it, he needs one with a display case back. Enter the SNK809! By the time Christmas came, I had bought my brother 5 watches! He really loved the Seiko. I gave him that one early. For Christmas, I gave him his final gift, an Orient Bambino. :) Eventually, I started to despise quartz and would only buy automatics. Now I have... at least 19 watches; 21 if you count how I have copies of two of my watches in case I ruin the first copy, and...2 more watches on the way = 21 to 23. I added a sapphire crystal to my Orient Ray II. Then modded an SKX009 and 007 with bezel inserts, chapter rings and sapphire crystals. I am, at this very moment, gluing a sapphire crystal into an Orient Bambino, and just ordered an NH36A and parts to add to my SKX. :) imgur.com/a/fNfNc5B

My watches are my FRIENDS! I wear different watches on different days and for different events. If I forget to put on my watch, I have difficulty making it through the day - I'm miserable. I don't purchase many, (well, very many) but when I decide to get a new one - I obsess over it! I can't get it out of my mind.
