CCPOA is one of the strongest unions. In the past they did great things for their officers. Now CCPOA is lost and no longer stands with you. They are political and help their own wallets.

The moment the union let go of our ability to strike was the moment we lost the house. Every change in the department over the last 20 years has been for the benefit of the inmates and to the detriment of the officers. We are at the mercy of the powers that be with no one to hear our voices.

Maybe one of the most important things for you current members to remember. Is, it’s YOUR union. It wouldn’t exist if not for you people showing up daily and doing the work. When “they” think that they have a better understanding of what you guys (gals too) need (the issues). Then it’s time to give them a chekada. Whatever that means to all of you? Or, you could just leave things how they are? 👍🏽🙏🏽👊🏽

Your perspective is not only flawed but selfish. The changes in CDCR that is to the "detriment" of the officers and "benefit" of the inmates were actually reforms that were much needed because officers had too much latitude to be abusive. The other aspects of the reforms were due to legislative changes because they had to decrease these overcrowded prisons. The officers are so accustomed to doing absolutely whatever it is that they want, that when some form of fairness is imposed, they feel "attacked". Officers are no longer able to and it hurts their egos. If you signed up to be an officer in prison then PLEASE just help actually reform these criminals and not treat CDCR as your personal fiefdoms. Aside from that...thank you for your service and your job and it's many difficulties are acknowledged, but that's why you make $9000 a month. It's vital that you use your training to withstand and rehabilitate. God bless you all.

@@BillyDaGoat783 WOW! Hopefully, YOU, will never have to work under the conditions that many working prison officers do. OUTNUMBER (50-1 maybe even 100-1?). Surrounded by groups of individuals who have NOTHING to lose. And have no qualms about disrespecting, injuring, maiming or killing them? They (inmates) do these same things to each another DAILY. Most people who are in prison are not there by accident. Many are there WILLINGLY, because they cannot function outside of prison. IF there are no rules, boundaries and limitations? Along with follow up. There is only anarchy and chaos. DANGEROUS for EVERYONE involved. If no one will step up to maintain any semblance of order. You are caught in a vicious conundrum, of YOUR own making. Sounds like you might be a little flawed and selfish too?

@user-su6ox4wh3p You are a lost person. The officers job is not to rehabilitate the inmates. The officers job is to provide security in the institutions where the offenders are housed and to keep communities safe by making sure they don't escape. The departments job is to provide rehabilitation programs to the inmates. But it's up to each individual as to whether they want to change their ways. They need to be accountable for their actions.

The CCPOA I remembered from 95-2001 appeared to me to be focused on victim awareness, officer safety and support during grievances or investigations. Back then the union would give their support to the Gov's that were tough on crime and supported Peace Officers. The way I see it now, they support whoever is likely to be elected and give raises and benefits. For better or worse, most pay union dues for better benefits and help against the onslaught of offender allegations. Even though the union gives millions to support officials in elections that most of the rank and file do not support. Most know they are making donations to elected officials-through their union dues-that they would never support financially or even vote for.

During the 90’s, CTF’s union was able to stop the ‘promotion’ to Warden of AW Jill Brown. She ended up at another prison, but it wasn’t CTF. Thank gaaaaawd we had a strong union board. That would definitely NOT happen nowadays. Don Novey was our Union President then. Those were good times.

The old CCPOA Union head, Don Novey, was a powerful statewide political operative. Pretty much second to none. You’d see other police, firefighter and public service Union operatives move around on the floor of the state capitol in Sacramento. But Novey stood out with his fedora hat. When he talked, people (legislators) listened. 💵💵 He pretty much usually took over the room. Even if that wasn’t his goal. As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. You just might get it. And then what..🤦🏽‍♂️

You are so correct, Ive been in cdcr since 2006. You should also talk about with new people, that when the Union rep tells you, just take the L when under investigation, that it will go off your record after 2 or 3 years, that is not true, off record for promotion or transfer. But it is on your record for ever. And will use it against you the next time investigation. Regardless how long ago it was.

Spot on with every negative response to Ccpoa, there is going to be a positive response with a much vigorous debate. Remember representatives, if knowledgeable will shut that debate door quickly, if you have a well knowledge representative, whether it’s the state union President all the way to a job steward they are always in Debate and negotiation mode. Being in the political arena of Ccpoa and the State is a Monster, But it is a need of calculated moves legal and political to get to the negotiated results. “If it was easy everyone would do it” it is difficult and mentally draining. But it’s fun just to piss off management. Have a great Day

Lt....top of the morning 💯 TRUTH ALL THE TIME... I joined the CDC for the UNION and job...I only drive America and try to purchase America products...I also support small businesses around me.. Yes...CCPOA got US post and bid.. got US Peace Officer Status... got US 109k a month.... Like you said that's the past things really changed when Arnold was in...I remember filling out some huge packet for the UNION...no lockers..take home all my gear... dressing in the parking lot.... hopefully my truck wouldn't be towed.... LMFAO That year WE didn't get our last of the contract raies....WE got 3 furlough days... the best part is if you got held over for 16 hours for straight pay all 16 hours...WTF .... That was straight BS... I'm PRO UNION... but like you said it's not the same...I don't know what goes on behind closed doors.... Like you said to OG .... neck adjustments, foot massage, foosball and blowing out your knee and Union is okay with that... I put paper work on what appears to me as a Sexual Assault on Staff at a soccer match televised by ESPN....WTF... It's not the same department that the OG started.... hell it's not the same department I started at...I have been out for 6 years and don't get me wrong Thanks to the UNION for the $$$... I read the back of the Peacekeeper and I know for a fact it doesn't have every incident... let alone true Staff assaults in it and was told once..."it wasn't reported by the union rep" Lt...I know your not trying to break the UNION... only making a VOICE of the 💯 FACTS about the management buffoonery....PIO of the people... OG...tell me how a Capt knows about a weapon and let's next watch do the work hours later...she knew about it long before she typed the email.. That's straight BS and that's the buffoonery that needs to be STOPPED.. BWC... should only be reviewed for an incident not to be reviewed to just see what a CO is doing all day...Hell I would have been fired for talking crap around the table... chopping it up... that's how we decompress... eating together and shooting the sht... having each other's back... OG... when the HELL would an Officer even think of having his neck adjusted by an Inmate... that's over familiarity at a minimum... tell me how that's Ok... I never got a hair cut or had my boots shined or dry cleaning with funny money... definitely not getting chiropractic service.... truly bummed your head.... Lt... KEEP Being a VOICE of the people... THANKS...KEEP PUSHING

In the early 1990’s, many LE Agencies began selling us on VIDEO recordings as OFFICER SAFETY TOOLS. They showed us videos of Texas Highway Patrol Troopers getting ambushed and killed on traffic stops. Everyone ate it up. With the proliferation of BLM, “Defund The Police” and “Transparency.” Now a days, the PRIMARY USE of body cam and vehicle video recordings has become to facilitate personnel complaints and file policy violation actions against officers and deputies. Entire new sections and bureaus are formed within agencies simply to handle the volumes of digital audio and video generated to keep politicians and the public’s appetites satisfied. Most high profile law firms love body cam videos because they use them as FREE DISCOVERY MOTIONS. Money that could be spent on modernizing and keeping police well equipped, is now used to feed the massive audio and video storage vaults. What is also coming soon, in many large metro areas is: VIDEO of an incident or CRIME, or It DIDNT Happen. These are important things to consider when choosing where to apply if you’re still considering any career in present day law enforcement? A lot of agencies that are suffering from serious manpower shortages have also started a new recruitment tactic. One of releasing media floods of: We Have Record Numbers of Applications! Don’t be fooled. Ask and verify the workforce and staffing numbers of any organization you consider joining first. Your life and the livelihood of your family just might depend on it. Do Web Searches on how many agencies are seriously overwhelmed and understaffed and REQUIRE mandatory overtime, just to cover regular operations? Job burn out and complacency are some of the most deadly cop killers.

The early 2000 era we were sold out with politics. The old regime of CCPOA (90's) was well respected by the members, but today's world is not respected by a majority of members. It has become a dog and pony show. Now the current whole regime of CCPOA starting with the EC get all the local chapters to follow like sheep. If you go against the EC (voice your disagreements) they target you and remove you to add another sheep. Glad that I'm retired and don't have to watch this madness from the inside. I wonder what video CCPOA will put out now with the California Model and changes in policy to this era now. Staff still being assaulted, and females being sexually assaulted with no further punishment. These inmates still have to have their tablets, games and programs even though their knuckleheads and have caused chaos in society.

Not every Sergeant! Ive been in the department since 1995, I Respectfully disagree with you, I’ve been a Sergeant for almost 21 years, Believe it or not, I have never written up a staff member up. I promise, I’ve chewed a lot of ass, and wont hesitate to check a lazy and pathetic cop . I’ve had staff who work for me in management positions and I tell them the same shit: 1) you don’t have to kiss my ass, you don’t even have to talk to me. 2) all you have to do is do your job, no more no less. The problem with a lot of staff is they don’t know policy nor do they think outside of the box to fight crime. I don’t give 5 fucks about what anyone is doing who out ranks me. Sergeants need to lead by example and train their staff and hold them accountable. I have fucked up plenty of times and I’ll probably continue to fuck up, but I’m not going to be a coward and throw in the towel. Believe me, I have never been an inmate lover, and I’m not going to go out as an inmate lover. To many motherfuckers want to sit around bitching and not getting off their ass to do anything about shit. Honestly, I don’t know why, I watched this video and read the comments because, some of the things I have previously observed from this channel is misinformation and bitching. Stand By: I know a few former Institutional Gang Investigators who are in the works creating a channel and explain different topics which hopefully will motivate people rather than acting like a drama queen, and trying to make people feel bad about the carrier choice . Be good to yourself, and be safe…

Even institution reps are soft as in no paperwork just deals. No tracking on the fucked up administration of how they don’t know their jobs. As a supervisor all my grievances went to 4th level and as you know it falls on def ears.

Did you say inmates playing ball with COs? I did time on C yard Centinela level 4 270. Back in the Lt Gervin, Lt Valenzuela and Sgt Lam days. I’m a former lifer, living a good productive life now. I don’t miss the good old days when they were handing out righteous ASU and SHU terms. lol Stay up Lt. And keep spitting them facts!

@@thatprisonguard I knew you look familiar. I was there from 2008-2013. I was in four block, I believe C/O Soto was our floor officer. Those years Centinela was rocking! A lot of stabbings, staff assaults, overdoses, etc. I was validated by ISU Parkhill and IGI Sandoval. And I was shipped to Tehachapi in 2013. I do remember you though! I can’t remember if you were 5 block or SNE. I was the only guy with red hair!🧑🏼‍🦰 lol
