Hi Bonnie, I'm loving this wrap. I've done test swatches in a number of yarns to find one with a nice drape. I had a lot of trouble with the knurl stitch, however I found an alternative that gives the same effect. Twisted single crochet! It was easier for me as it went in the right direction and my stitches were more uniform. Thank you so much, I'm up to the 2nd row of cables.....woohoo!

Question: Written Pattern states: Low Front Ridge Row 1 - ch1 ( working in front loop only) slip stitch in next st.......however, video states ch1 then SKIP FIRST STITCH then slip stitch. Since I am entirely doing over my first third of the shawl because I was not exact on my number counts of stitches, I want to make sure that I am following direction exactly, so kindly clarify. Thank you. I so appreciate your sharing and instructions.

Madelaine Anonymous that’s a great question. Both mean the same. In crochet lingo to say “In next st” implies to skip the first st, but most folks would not know that. I’m just trying to make it more clear in the video.😊

I am new to crochet (2 months) and fell in love with this so I used cheap acrylic yarn to practice with it. Yes, very ambitious for a first project but I am so proud of the finished product. Bonnie, your videos and instructions made this such a fun project that even a beginner can be successful with it!! Question: would this work with a lighter weight yarn? I’d like to make this for a bride’s outdoor wedding…in November…in PA. She’s planning to wear a flannel over her dress if it’s cold, but this would be so much prettier.
@BonnieBayCrochet2 жыл бұрын
Great question Diana! Absolutely! A lighter weight yarn would work great with this, but definitely check the gauge to see that you will be getting the length you desire. You can always add additional chains (add multiples of 12 to the original starting chain if you need to) to add or maintain the same length.

Can I do this wrap in Double Knit yarn? I am in uk and like to work in doubleknit most of the time. Would I have to add extra stitches for my starting chain?. Just love your work Thank you x
@BonnieBayCrochet5 жыл бұрын
Hi Debbie! That's a great question! This is a pretty long wrap (72" long), so it is really up to you and the thickness of the DK yarn. I've found that some are on the thicker side, and may be fine. You can always make a swatch with your yarn and from that (using some math) determine the length with this yarn by comparing your swatch to the gauge. You can always add to the existing starting chain in multiples of 12, but may need to adjust the shadow box motif slightly (multiple of 10 + 2). You will also need to size down your hook from the J/10/6.00mm hook. I hope this helps!

I'm working on this.. i got to the 2nd video and my row are not ending right.. i definitely know how to count to 250 or close to it.. I'm 2 -3 stitches short.. different everytime 🙄i even stitch marker every 50.. i wanted to make this for my mom's birthday and have it sent to her by Nov 6th

Add a few sc on those rows like 2 in one stitch it'll help make up for the missing stitches.

Hi Bonnie! This is awesome! I would like to do a sample to see if I can do it. Could you tell me please how many chains should i do? I hope that you understand what I am asking.

Sure Sissy! All but one of these stitches is a multiple of 12 + 2. The only stitch that won't fit this protocol is the Shadow Box, which is a multiple of 10 + 2. You can easily fill in the extra stitches at the end with additional double crochets for your swatch/sample.

Over the summer my grandson and I found out we both like Celtic things. He mentioned he would love a long scarf. If I made this for him where would I end to keep it from being too feminine. Or do you think the width would be ok for a male. Not sure if I should end at the other set of cables after the diamonds. Thank you.

Great question Tracey! I actually have a sock/fingering weight yarn scarf coming this Monday that I think could be for either a man or woman. Perhaps change up the color and don’t tell home the name of the design (Rahab’s Scarf!) 😊😂

@@BonnieBayCrochet cool I will watch out for it. He likes green and I found a nice darker green for him. Thank you for answering 😍

HI Bonnie, such a beautiful project. But I have a question I am having trouble with :( : why does my project tend to decrease as I go along rows?? Please advise thanks

It would greatly help me to help you if you could send me a photo of the problem to bonniebay@me.com. If this is happening with the cable rows, it could be you are skipping more stitches than you should? Is your stitch count staying the same?
