I know this is an old comment, but we are currently looking at a 2007 Eddie Bower edition, with 190k miles for $6k. We are in the northeast, so rust is *always* a big deal. But if we can get them in decent shape, undercoating is a blessing. I don’t like newer cars. I like to buy older with cash, then drive them for a decade or more. Mileage: I can get 20 - 22 mpg over the road, if I keep it on cruise control at 70mph. Above, it quickly sinks to 16 when I push it to 80 to 85. Just change the oil every 5000 miles; the 5.4 L engine is prone to oil passage blockage from sludge. Keep the insides clean, use full synthetic and a new oil filter every 5K. It just may last forever.

I use a 2010 SSV Expedition at a towing company for a roadside assistance vehicle. It was bought at government auction from a fire department where it accumulated about 75,000 hard miles. Even came with the red lights and emergency stuff on it. Now it runs 12 hour+ shifts in the snow, mud and super cold and hot weather alike. Has about 900 lbs of tools and equipment on it including a 12k lb winch for pulling vehicles out of ditches or off road recoveries, and it's occasionally used for towing trailers as well. It's a beast of a truck. It goes where others can't, and it even has mud tires on it. I'd take driving it over the tow trucks any day, and the tow trucks are almost brand new! Very solid, and dependable vehicle.

Woah woah woah! Hang on there Scottie Does it have the 4.6L if so your good if not then it has the 5.4L which is a bad engine design and has issues with the Cam Phasers and spark plugs blowing out. You need to make another video talking about the Ford 5.4.
@back2roots7793 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have a problem with spark plugs blowing out. They commonly break when you replace them.
@Yophillips32723 жыл бұрын
@@back2roots779 After 2008 they fixed the plugs getting stuck in the 5.4's. The cam phasers or vct or whatever they do have issues too. But still they are nice suv's.

Are there still issues with 2007 or newer Ford Expedition V8 engines. Ford went through some big-dollar repair issues with their V8, I believe one issue was their cam phasers. Have those and other issues been solved with the 2007 and newer Ford V8's?

My personal reason for not picking up a full EV is not just because i think the lowest range of an EV should be atleast 600 miles (967 km) but if or rather when you get stranded because it probably going to happen to some. You cant just bring a spare jerry can and get up to 100+ miles in an instant but you have to tow the car what ever happens. You cant just bring a small powerplant or new battery if you run out. Living in more open areas and difficult terrain doesnt mix well when you suddenly need a tow to get to an outlet. I like the idea of hybrids more

Damn that had to been the most clean underbody I've seen for a ford exloder. Here in Illinois aka salt bucket winters, they are rusted through EVERYWHERE!
