My mom just moved in with my family, and she brought my old air rifle. It's rusted all to hell. Wont cock. And the wood is perfect. Take that for what it's worth. I'm tempted to convert it to 22 short, or even use the stock for a 38spl build I've been wanting to do. (Amateur gunsmith here lol) It's a 2006-08 btw.

I wouldn't try to convert it but you may be able to remove the rust and restore it. With some care it's possible to make a neglected old airgun better than it was to begin with.

If you tightened the barrel hinge screw it wouldn't wobble.Im sure the stock screws were loose also. All those missed shots weren't the guns fault.If you simply shot at a paper target and seen where the shots were hitting then you could adjust the sights accordingly.Freezing the gun made the leather piston seal contract and the oil in the compression tube thicken resulting in lower velocity. Eh just let the gun thaw out LOL

If you left it in the freezer COCKED 24 hours you ruined it. The spring loses a lot of power when you leave it cocked for a long time. Replacing the spring would take it back to its real power.

It just needs the leather piston to be oiled, soaked overnight. And maybe replace the mainspring, they get sagged out after a lot of use. These do come in .22 cal, I have one. It shoots around 480fps. So yours needs a little love and it should be doing over 500 being a .177

Not accurate get your self the pumpmaster crossman from Walmart for 35 dollars out of box the iron sights are dead on at 25 meters no need to adjust the only adjustment rear sight up and down and cones with a scope that actually stays zeroed and accurate will put ten rounds through sane hole

Accuracy and velocity is lost when the barell gets loose. Break barell airguns are for kids unless you buy a umarex or other quality airgun that costs more than $200 and has more than 800 fps velocity. There is a PCP airgun that costs less than $200 in either .22 or .177 caliber, I forget the brand name (Benjamin?). I did some research last month on quality airguns, you really get what you pay for in quality. So, beginners should be ready to spend as much for an airgun as you would spend on a Ruger .22 LR. used or new. BTW - I refuse to buy anything from WalMart that is Chinese made (chinese "junk" ). The Chinse made B-1 ( break barrel) and B-3 (under lever) from years ago were ok if you didn't mind less than 500 fps velocity in either caliber. They were cheap flea market buys with rebuild kits under $35 back then. The air seal was not durable in any of those guns as the seal would disintegrate when used, or stored for a long time without use. The rifle's stock was styled after the SKS model 7.62x39 Russian or Communist Chinese manufacture.Both "springers" had a familiar "Boing" sound after the M-16/AR15 rifle. Just some FYI for beginner air rifle buyers.
