Thrawn is such a great character. He’s so strategical and always seems to be one step ahead of everyone, even at times the Emperor himself. He understands the importance of careful planning and also understands words are powerful, they can either open doors for u or get you killed. He thinks of the horizon (like Luke) but also has the intelligence to know how he’s gonna maneuver thru it and seems to have contingency plans for mostly every move he makes or is involved in

As I read the book, I had to appreciate Timothy's line of thought with the Chiss and the Force. By stating that they lose their "3rd sight" as they get older, it prevents having Chiss Jedi/Sith and surely kills any threat to Vader. Introduce a new species that can use the Force, but have a strong limit on it. Genius. Also, it doesn't mess up the canon.

Haven't read it yet. I have read the Bane trilogy (which was really good), the Revan book (which I didn't like), the Plagueis one (different pace from Bane, but still fascinating) and started reading the Tarkin novel, which was so uninteresting that I stopped. Right now I am reading the original Thrawn books, the Thrawn novel is possibly the next one in line.

If The Chiss species as a whole is even half as intelligent as Thrawn is, that still makes them far more intelligent and better than normal Earth humans altogether... So, "Skywalkers" are a kind of Chiss euphemism for a Force User. Is anyone else excited for what this might mean for Shmi Skywalker's backstory? We don't know anything about her before Waddo won her in that card game. What if she was once Force-sensitive as well? What if she was from the unknown regions, or was given her name by someone else who was? Someone who had run-ins with the Chiss? What if Shmi was Force-Sensitive when she was younger but grew out of it, like the Chiss do? So many possibilities. And I like that "Skywalker Saga" has bascially just expanded to include all the many different ways someone in Star Wars can use the Force. Interesting...

I think we're learning there's more then one way to be a Force-User. And hyperspace lanes were mostly plotted with trial and error using droid pilots (and a few very brave living ones) early in the Galaxy's history. The Royal House of Aldaraan established itself with it's contributions to maps of hyperspace lanes. Force-sensitivity was not a factor in hyperspace travel historically. Not for anyone but the Chiss, I guess. If you have a map, you don't need precognition.

In some ways yes, however, its one of those events that just because it can happen doesn't mean it will. If the Interdictor was going to be there before the navigation was ploted, the navigator simply plots around it, if it is planned placed and activated after launch, then its a medium chance whether or not the sky walker can see it coming

Grand Admiral Thrawn have you read the book yet? We see Vader doing this technique, and he isn't plotting the course, nor does he seem capable of simply plotting a course. Due to the shifting nature of the unknown regions, that seems rather impractical. Instead they have him take an active role in controlling the flight of the Chimaera, which means he could avoid any gravitational anomalies he encountered.

Bow, my question is this ; Why is it , during the SW:TOR era of SW history ((approx. 3k years prior to the SW movies)) does The Chiss Ascendancy, and even just the Chiss in general as a species consider 'Force Sensitives' as they put it in game, an "Affliction" ? Something that is undesirable and limits ones statues within the society of the Ascendancy and within their own families ? In SW:TOR you are always given the impression that the Ascendancy is more than happy to send any Chiss that are "Afflicted" with the Force to the Sith Empire and send them on to Korriban to be taught, trained & used by The Sith Order . I've seen this very fact RP's in Game many times , and i've always just understood it as a truth for the Chiss species. Thank you for any answers , and help in understanding this. Though you can't play as a Sith Chiss right of the bat you'll have to unlock the Race. Also we never saw any Chiss Sith or Force Users at the Academy or anywhere on Korriban and Dromund Kaas. So actually lore-wise we only see One single Chiss Force User who was in hiding on Copero and wasn't a Jedi nor Sith. As for the "Affliction"-view on the Force probably some Chiss Force User manipulated or some how betrayed the Ascendancy leaving a very bad impression within their society, But 3 thousand years is a long long time for any tensions to cool down and new ideas and uses for Chiss Force Users to be brought about.

i'd imagine that the emperor would demand one of these kids to perform some sort of sith wuju on them to see if the third sight could be altered to be able to be used by adults. think about it, an inquisitor who, while not very good at telekinetic manipulation, could see what the opponent was going to do before they did it while in combat. i seem to remember an anime where this is possible, with one of the main characters using this ability to dodge bullets and fight several people at a time without taking a single hit.

The likely reason why the Unknown Regions' difficulties in hyperspace navigation is probably because a massive stellar object was passing by. Might be a dwarf galaxy being absorbed by the Corusca galaxy and the supermassive blackhole of the dwarf galaxy is still settling itself into a stable orbit or on its way towards the galactic core. It would had taken over hundreds of millions of yrs for this to complete which is a long time compared to the rise&falls of civilizations in the galaxy. Also with the dwarf galactic core moving towards the main galactic core, it would be dragging other massive stars along the way as well as the stars from the original dwarf galaxy. This is actually normal process as massive galaxies do absorb lesser galaxies into their own just that it takes over a billion yrs for it to fully complete the process. So hyperspace lanes would be temporary as stars do move around the galaxy as well.

During, not long after the battle of Atollon. During the story Vader keeps bringing up that Trawn failed during that battle, And Trawn makes multiple remarks about the creature ( the Bendu ) that fought on the rebels side.

I don't understand why Vader assumed they would be jedi or sith. They're from the unknown regions. The last time the jedi went into the unknown regions, Thrawn kind of killed them. They'd probably be similar to in motivation and practice but not actually sith.

Maybe he brushed up on ancient Sith history after becoming Sidious apprentice and remebered that the Chiss were the first and most important voluntary allies of Vitiate's Sith Empire. If so perhaps he wondered at that point if they hid a secret faction of Sith that had endured in some form to this day.
