​@@EnchantedSmellyWolf I didn't start playing until the fort atlas storyline and now that you mention it shotguns have definitely always felt like a support role weapon. Never thought about it like that, but that's exactly what they appear to be post apparent nerf. I've been playing healers my entire mmo career so I was attracted to a medic shotgun (cripple, passive healing from weapon, shared team medic, field surgeon, first aid) with a flamer as backup (for friendly fire) and once I finally got everything built out I realized how much time I wasted because nothing in the game requires that level of healing, yet. As an aside, the mere functionality of Medic on a shotgun versus on a handmade (5% per projectile, as it turns out) should have been a massive indicator I was going overboard but I didn't realize the difference until I spent a ton of time tracking down a medics handmade only to be so very disappointed. Not only is tormentor inferior to the shotgun version, so is the prefix functionality. I really hope one day the make content worthy of a proper medic so I can play the way that excites me the most

The damage with a prime receiver is solid, and it will cripple a scorchbeast in the air (with Enforcer), and once it lands frozen you have plenty of time to finish it.

I fought a queen mirelurk with it yesterday. Second shot she froze up and fell over. The freeze 🥶 effect made the fight ridiculously easy. 😊

Dude I told you I was excited for this, I got it as soon as the update dropped and it’s actually OP. It outperforms my bloodied explosive double barrel and even bloodied explosive combat shotgun… not quite gauss shotgun but the cold shoulder feels more fluid and better to use so for now it is my favourite shotgun. Watch them nerf it bc it’s fun and makes shotguns work

This has been what I was looking forward to as well! Honestly, it's great because from a low level it's extremely useful and fun to use. The fact you can rack through 8 rounds quickly, vats if choosing or free aim for the head, it's the best up close gun in the game. I do switch between this and a Gaus vamp.

I created a fourth toon finally after years during the recent double XP. Lucky me, it's a shotty build. I played with this thing last night at level 60. It's very cool looking, and so much fun! My toon is bloodied build so I may have to try it as full health. I'm using it with vats, and it's now my favorite for solo play on the shotty toon. I had so much fun playing with it.

Nice little gun. It worked for me, let's say I use it completely stabilized. I also have a muzzle brake on it. I can survive up close with this even on low health. The only problem is that I also use grenade perks because of the new mutation. Yes, who might be reading this text and doesn't know what kills opponents with reflective skin. Well, it's very simple, Everything that doesn't kill with a direct hit, so every explosive weapon in the game is useful. Not the rest, unless you can shoot stably on the ground. The Fat man, the Auto grenade launcher, the M79, the basic rocket launcher, the Hellstorm rocket launcher, and all the grenades and mines found in the game. If I missed something, please let me know. The second option, which I do not recommend anyway. Weapons with explosive bullets are more or less effective. It depends on the user of the weapon. Anyone who can stably shoot at the ground can deal damage without dying from a single direct hit. This is my current experience with it. And why am I writing this here now? Well, the situation is that both high and low level players are fucked up by this one mutation. Which is only bad because it's the second one? no, this is the third day since this update arrived. You can often see that many people die many times because they don't understand what is going on. That's the only reason I wrote this here. 🤣🤣🤣

I like how they gave us the weapon early in the scoreboard. I don’t have enough time to get through the whole scoreboard usually, so it’s nice to be able to mess around with it without having to grind. Hopefully they do this in the following seasons too. Missed out on the Nuka launcher 😢

I used this on a SBQ fight, and not only was I doing good damage, the Queen was frozen almost the entire time. I'm fairly sure no one was using a cryolator.

In my opinion about the cold shoulder it's very powerful 1-3 shots on normal mobs a clip or so on some major enemies but the fact you can freeze and cripple at the same time with this shotgun it makes easily the best of it's class damage and utility alike Note that's just in open combat I imagine in stealth it's going likely take even less shots

Just crafted this gun on my new lvl 54 character, WOW. No perks yet but still headshotting scorched in VATS! The quad is so good too. One run through daily ops and I’m set for life for ammo. I love it!!

I've been using that shotgun and it's good, the freezing effect on enemies is good and helpful. Kept the Scorchbeast Queen very much frozen and on the ground for ages, making it easier and quicker for the rest of the other players to take it down.

yep, i didn't have high hopes for this one considering all the problems with Shotguns (especially not being combat/gauss meaning it has NO armor pen at all) but that massive amount of cyro damage is real good. PLUS i finally have a shotgun to go with the vault survivor outfit, like it has those shotgun shells on it but my gauss doesn't use them and a combat uses clips.

So im not entirely sure if this works across all snipers but it seems like sniper damage from plasma gun is greatly affected by anti armor rather than bloddied. But when automatic barrel is applied the damge from bloodied is much grater. Its interesting to see diffrent legendery affects have diffrent buffs for diffrent wepon types

Nice video. I was playing with The Longshot that you get out of the mutated packages this is also very strong 1SHOT level 100 Super Mutant with no Rifleman cards only set up as on a Commando. I'm wondering if this has any hidden effects?.. Also I noticed a bug with the flamer if you load into the world with flamer and you tried to shoot from Full Clip it will only shoot 20 ammo than constantly reload over and over flamer alittle bit bug with this update.. anyway thought I would pass my findings off to you my friend hope you're having a great day and excellent video

Any shotgun gets the 8 pellet stack from Strangler Heart, the pepper shaker just does it fast, and with less reloads.

Can confirm hit reg in vats is very bad when firing fast I don't even use gun fu. Pretty reliable outside of vats I found and reloads absurdly fast. I use this and pepper shaker for cripple and we don't lose because my side during eviction notice.

Im 2 shotting some of the tougher super mutants in the chest as bloodied using it with full shotgun perks,I temporarily changed my build from melee to play around with it then a 2 shot gauss shotgun dropped from the mutation event bag and I was like ok I’ll just stay like this it seems the universe demands it

For me this is literaly a cpl Hicks shotgun for close encounters, i carry it in case main weapon gets destroyed or to clear small enemies like thicks or rats when i don`t to waste .50 or plasma and i don`t even have to carry shotgun ammo as it drops from everything. Nice side gun for sure.

I´ve missed out on the scoreboard it got released on so now I grinded 500 stamps in like 3 days. I´m so burned out of expeditions by now :D it was really exhausting since it´s always the same activity. But I´m super happy to have the Cold Shoulder in my arsenal now and I can´t wait to test it in events! I´m just a little scared of the person who thought 500 stamps might be a reasonable price. I really hope it is worth, but I love double barrel shotguns in any game so it was a no-brainer for me nevertheless. *Edit: Even without specced build this thing SHREDS! Can´t wait to implement it into my VATS shotgunner build :))

My guess as to the piles is that you freeze the mob and when you shoot it again it shatters into a pile of frozen goo.
