In the video I talked about a woodworker named Isak Stålenhag. The family is our friends and our beloved husky Malva was born at their place and her parents Garlic and Luna still lives there. They live about 2 hours from us. We recently learned that Isaks workshop burned to the ground If someone that reads this has a spare dollar and want to help an incredible person that contributes so much to the woodworking community , we wanted to share this fundraiser his friends started for them to help them rebuild his workshop. This is the fundraiser: gofund.me/5bb6796d If you are interested in learning about all the aspects of building with timber, Isaks instagram is a wealth of information: instagram.com/isakstalenhag/

I would like to say I’m 58 years old and I’ve never seen anyone with your skills. You could come to the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee and make a million dollars a year building log homes for people. Very impressive sir. The tool that you’ve been talking about we call a log scribbing tool with a level. It looks like what you’ve got but a lot bigger. Your skill with an axe is beyond anyone I’ve ever seen. Your little boy is so cute and growing fast. And everyone loves your the little smiles your wife makes. You are a blessed man. I know you must spend hours editing but to me it would be better to see it as it really is. Which ever one is fine with me. Your friend steve Ezell

My father spoke fluent Swedish and all my uncle's as well. I miss hearing my father and Uncles sit around our table talking of old times. Hearing your voice has been a blessing. Forgive me, but I have to say this then leave for a while, I will then come back to finish this video. I just have to say this...You said that people with more experience building a home etc would probably be scratching their heads at the way you do it, that they would do better you assume..Well, I laughed at this comment. You are totally NOT giving yourself credit..Omgoodness, You sir are an unbelievable builder! Your talent is over the roof!! Trust me, people are scratching their heads, I agree, but not at your mishaps, or lack of knowledge doing one thing or another...they scratch because your a fantastic builder!! You do this with no paper in front of you, it’s all in your head and done the old way..the hard way! I mean my husband builds this and that, nothing like a home, you have blown him away at your raw talent! So do ever sell yourself short..keep doing what you do!! Listen, if I had a choice to buy a little home, I saw 2 same size same everything, only difference is one is manufactured, the other is built with one mans hands (yours) using regular tools like you use etc. I would choose your house!! I bet most of us here would want your home! :) Ok...I’ll return later to finish

In English, we use 'chamfer' or 'chamfered edge' as a general term for 45 degree angled corners, but for an architect or civil engineer, the correct term is 'arris'. Mathias, thank you for taking the time to film this! I will never build my own cabin, but I found this video so interesting and informative! Such a wonderful legacy you are building for your family, and these videos will show future generations how you did it. Brave man flying the drone under the logs like that! LOL

WHAT a BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!!! Truly, you have it all...Matthias, Tova nd Ivar! Matthias, you are growing in confidence and determination. Before you were working for Tova and now...you are working even harder with the GREAT GIFT of Ivar. I appreciate all the 'WORK' it took you to make this vid and to explain soOOoo much of your building. The Swedish have a unique building style which is well worth 'holding onto'. I am proud of you Matthias and Tova, for the WONDERFUL efforts you are making to preserve your culture. WELL DONE! I would love you to give Ivar a big kiss from this ol' widow watching...as he will soon be a big one year old man. He is THRIVING from the love in this home you have provided him with. Even your animals are unusually content...due to the love and respect you show them. The front porch/entryway of your home will be very strong and large enough to both store and utilise it for many things. Tova is an outstanding wife and mother. I pray for your health and God to Bless you and yours. P.S. I would like to see you wear safety glasses Mattias, when you cut wood. One accident can cost you soOOOoo much in health and time. Do take care :)

I love your channel, and the method of your building is the same as my grandparents used to build the cattle barn on our farm 110 years ago. They all came to NE Minnesota from northern Sweden.

Whoa!! Fancy ax shenanigans...love it!!! In time to the music too...now this is what living a fullfilled life is all about...its not just the daily grind it's how we appreciate time is short and having fun is crucial to our overall being. We only get one time to make the most of it. Otherwise why put the energy into something that doesn't bring us joy too.Great intro and your English is outstanding now. Hooray for shenanigans😃
