I’m colorblind to red and I can confidently say it’s red!! When I see red tones they look green. Red looks like a normal shade of green kinda like grass. Pink looks kinda like a sage green and orange looks like a very yellow green. Those stairs since I know they’re warm tones. Are 100% red

I see it as red but now since you said crimson, crimson is a color that's sometimes red-leaning towards vermillion orange but at the most crimson can be purplish red that has more red with hints of blue. (from an artist who always has a crimson lake in her palette of oil, acrylic as well as watercolor) fun fact burgundy and crimson are on a similar spectrum and are often mistaken but they are not the same

There is no way those stairs are anything other than red; the only reason they would read as pink is because of the light skewing the color. And let's be honest: if people on the street were shown pictures of those two stairways and directed to point to the painted red stairs, they'd for sure point to Rochelle's over Rachael's.

Even if those stairs WERE pink (which they aren't), Rochelle was right in her explanation! With any other color, if you add white, you just get a lighter version of that main color. Think baby blue, seafoam green, pale yellow, etc. Pink is only different because it earned its own unique name somehow, but it's really just a tone of red!

Using different browsers won't make too much of a difference, but might help a little. Using incognito will also help a little, but the data still goes to your isp so it can still alter search algorithms. Using a VPN on each device would have better effect, but it's easier to simply each use your own mobile data if you don't all use a VPN, as there are layers of data mining and algorithms at play here, including within pinterest itself.

while i don't mean to argue those stairs were pink, this is simply how colour naming works.. some colours have a much more tint names which means they have a much smaller identification window for the one name. 'yellow' quickly turns to brown, orange or green, but adding white doesn't change the colour name (until maybe egg shell). 'red' actually has a way larger identification window, BUT adding white will make it be called 'pink' rather quickly 🤷.

Those stairs were definitely red. And as a side note, pink is not it's own color, despite us referring to it as such. Like Rochelle said, pink is just red with white in it, therefore, it's a tint of red rather than a separate color. If the game was to find purple stairs and she found light purple ones, you wouldn't say that's not purple, its lavender, so pink should count as well. But again, those were red.

Doesn't matter if the stairs are "hot pink" or "bright red" the real question is why does adding white to red make it a completely different color (ie pink), while adding white to any other color does not change the color category? Pink is red the same way that sage is green and lavender is purple, etc. If the challenge was to find "blue stairs" would you not win if you found any shade of blue, be that navy blue vs. royal blue vs. powder blue vs. robin's egg blue, etc.? Why not any shade of red for red stairs? Black and white are shades, not colors. Adding yellow to red does change the color to orange, as mixing primary colors makes a new color. Adding white/black to red/any color changes the shade.

I've tried, and it went like this: 8 clicks to find a somewhat red stairs (it was a blushy red) 4 clicks to find a tomato decor (a beautiful illustration on a gallery wall) 1 click for a mini wavy mirror, or 2 clicks for a bigger one 1 click for a yellow sofa or 2 clicks for a yellow chair And roch's stair was most definitely red!

The easiest way to mitigate would be to do it on incognito mode and/or delete cookies in the Google chrome cache between each player. There’s only so much you can mitigate though because if they follow each other on Pinterest or use the same computer to log in, the second one person sees something it’ll get sucked up into the algorithm of the other person (which is potentially why you saw the ads kelsey gets for pants on Rochelle’s profile for example).

Maybe they each have a laptop and search simultaneously but alternate clicks, ie player one has one click and three scrolls, then player two gets one click and three scrolls,then back to player one...?
