You likely know Dee Wallace as Mary -- aka, the mom from Steven Spielberg’s ET: The Extra-Terrestrial. (Ahem, the woman who knocked America’s favorite alien with a refrigerator door.) But this Kansas-teacher-turned-prolific-actor is also an internationally acclaimed speaker who knows a thing or two about perseverance -- when she booked her first of more than 200 commercials, she had only $4 in her bank account. “I left for New York, and my mom thought I’d be a goner in a week,” she said on the talk-show circuit following the release of ET. Instead, she went on to make 130 films, author five books and, now, grace the stage of TEDx Cape May. I had my first telephone conversation with Dee about a month ago. It was a present from a very dear friend. I cannot believe how much I have been affected by Dee's teachings. I am calmer, more focussed and able to think about my little child in clearer terms. TAHNK you so much for being there for us Dee. Incidentally, my first audition after my contact with you, I got the gig! I don't think that is coincidence.

Dee speaks so beautifully, I felt like she was talking to the little girl in me that tries to rule me with fear. I need to understand her more instead of trying to shut her up. I like the thought of re-parenting my little girl, during Dee's talk I realized I've been too mean I need to be good, kind and sweet to my inner child - she deserves it. Thanks Dee I'm grateful for your insights!

Dee's message of loving ourselves is EXACTLY what we need right now. If we don't love ourselves, we can absolutely not love others! It's quite simple, love yourself more, care for yourself better and take a better you into each day!

Dee trusts herself and her channel, and that trust through love allows her to operate in truth and wisdom. Like most profound truths, what she shares may seem simple, but is far from trivial. Because she is heart-centered and so loves herself, she generously shares with us what her channel provides her for us. Her insights about our inner child shaped by our childhood experiences is one of her strongest areas. This TedTalk epitomizes her honesty, openness, and loving wisdom. In her radio show, seminars, and private sessions, she quickly gets to truths that might take years to realize in conventional therapy, and she can sense when you understand and are applying what she has shared. Not many therapists have that immediate intuition and connection. I feel deep appreciation and gratitude for her gifts, and I am glad everyone can get a glimpse of that wisdom here. Let the words she shares here slowly sink in, like a warm, soft rain. If you do that, you can change your life easily and joyfully.

Dee Wallace is incredibly clear and empowering in her self-work and all that she does with many, many others. Her talk today on the little child within goes far beyond the popular table of the past. The work she does and guides releases blocks and offers true self knowledge, as well as compassion to others. My personal thanks gout to her and the courageous gift of this talk to all of us.

Dee's message inspired to find one of the photos of myself as a child where I had such an expression of total joy to print out and place in a prominent place so I can remind myself of who my co-creator is. What a wonderful message Dee has and I am so glad she has shared it.

Dee, thank you so much for sharing your story. I was very touched. It is easy to look at someone and think they have it all and they are so far removed from me. It helps to know that someone as beautiful and talented as you has had her struggles also. I have gone through losing my husband and my mother this year and my house burning down. My confidence was low and I was living in fear. I am working really hard to get back to my more positive self.

Dee is in some ways a worth successor to Florence Scovell Shinn. She speaks in a simple, midwestern way, saying some deeply profound things. The stories she shares are relevant. When I heard she had a TED talk, I immediately went to find it. Of course it was useful. The word "sensei" means "born before", with the implication of someone further down the path, who can guide the seeker. She is a Sensei. I have somewhat limited time for inspiring stuff, and I made room for this one. I look forward to additional TED talks, by her.

This is such a wonderful insightful talk on self-worth. Dee Wallace understands the greatest journey you should take-the inner journey of self-love. I’ve read her brilliant book, “Bright Light: Spiritual Lessons from a Life in Acting” and this TEDx beautifully illustrates the main life lessons she brings forth in that work. Dee is the real deal. I truly loved this! Dee is a light in our world.
