13:25 map creator here, there are ways to add og movement back to maps, it used to be a toggle in creative but i think they removed that, either way its not hard at all, they still have all the files, they just didn't wanna bring it back

i said this many times but here i go again. The most important things are not the sprinting animations, UI and those things that are purely visual, the real important things are more intrisic to the game, such as matchmaking, bots, building mechanics, etc. I will list them quickly, i think the problems are: -Skil bassed matchmaking -Bots -Turbo Building (They could make a gamemode for it or just remove it, a gamemode would be preferable since next seasons showcased turbo building and i won't really want it anymore even if its "og") -Edting needs a nerf too (make builds unable to be edited until they are fully built) -Current sprinting mechanics (remove sprinting sliding and climb) Then the things that are not that important but i would still change are: -movement animations (should bring the old ones) -old UI (should come back) - chapter 2 icons and guns -better recreation of the old graphics (rewind royale, a creative map did better than epic games) And this one is very unpopular but having an option to remove crossplay would help a lot of players that don't wanna go against pc players (they have an option to remove it but it doesn't work at all, because of skill based matchmaking which causes low players counts i suppose)

I honestly can't see a valid argument against skill based matchmaking. You will never be able to get back to a time where everyone was bad at the game and the people who complain about skill based matchmaking that they actually have to try and win are pretty dumb. Back in the OG days, people didn't win every match and it was difficult to get a win. Skill based matchmaking brings that back for all players and makes it so the less skilled or casual players are not being absolutely destroyed every match. It also keeps the game challenging like it was back then for everyone.

One big problem with OG i have is that the pass lasts as long as a regular fortnite season despite only having a third of the content (Festival and Lego have less than that,which only gives them even lesser justification).

I was there in January 2018 (pre-Tilted Season 2) and I honestly don't think people really want the OG movement...I REALLY don't. Especially in Seasons 1-4 where movement is limited and there's lots of open space. Zero Build will be literally unplayable with the old movement. People really want a 1-1 experience, but when you recommend turning off Turbo building, most of those people make an "exception". I've played 30+ hours of OG since it launched and just hit Diamond in Ranked, and my only complaints are the amount of bots in Unranked and the LOOOONG queue times for Ranked if I don't want to play with bots. Season 2 will be so much better and get more players, but I think this mode will hit it's peak (just like real Chapter 1) in Season 4 and beyond. I'm looking so forward to this mode come Spring of 2025. I'm loving this mode so much!

To me, OG is like an emulation. It's trying to be like the original, but it's not 1 to 1 with it's charms and problems. Some people are ok with that but even though the experience will never be the same, it would be great to at least see what it was like even with it's problems like retro games! When I first playe Super Mario 64 I had a lot of trouble getting used to the controls and there were some infuriating level designs, but that's Mario 64 whether I like it or not and I enjoyed it for the most part and I wouldn't change it(unless were talking full remake).

it absolutely should have released 1:1. i do not understand why they would advertise something being true to og, and then they go ahead and not deliver on it. it wouldnt hurt to have it 1:1 because if the community truly hated certain aspects of it and wanted the modern changes then they could add it later.

Genuinely; my only major issue with OG are the SBMM/Bot changes. I don't mind the new movement, updated graphics, or even using the new UI. It's literally only those two changes that I have an issue with. SBMM is one thing. I preferred when it wasn't in the mode as that was the true OG experience with people of all skill levels in your region, but I at least understand why it was needed. I can at least excuse that introduction. But bots? They're just such a mess. They're barely functional so it's literally never fun to come across one, and the worst part for me? Even despite there being days where my friends and I will get multiple wins in a row, we'll still run into consistent lobbies where it feels like at least half of the players are bots. At least in terms of the people we run into. Especially the last team. More often than not, the final team will always be either a solo bot or multiple which just makes the wins laughable. But even in the feed, we'll notice way more bot names than real people and constantly laugh about it and just shrug it off in disappointment because we expect nothing less anymore. I'm playing a Battle Royale. I *want* to go against real people. That's the entire point. It's a *PvP* experience for a reason. That's what the game itself is promoted as. A 100 *PLAYER* PvP Battle Royale experience. And OG should be a bigger exception than any other mode when it comes down to that given bots and SBMM didn't exist back then. It's a side mode too, it's not supposed to be the priority, so what's the issue with not having SBMM/Bots in one game mode? Especially when not having those features makes it more accurate to what it's supposed to be mimicking? Most newer player will probably be prioritising the main BR anyway, so why are we worrying about that in OG where most of the player-base for it is bound to be OG players who played it back then or the few new players who want to give it a try for the first time? I genuinely don't get the mindset people have now with needing to win and needing to be fed eliminations to have fun. The fun of BR; especially Fortnite was the grind of going against this wide range of skill levels. Having every win feel like an achievement; something you grinded for and deserved. Constantly winning because I'm getting 10+ elimination wins where almost all of them were bots that can't even aim? That's not fun. That's not what I'm playing for. The first day of OG was the first time that Epic successfully managed to bring back the vibe and feel of OG. Season OG was close, but it missed a few marks. Creative maps? They never came close in my opinion. But that first day of OG with no SBMM? I felt like I was transported back to 2018; playing Fortnite on my Switch for the first time ever experiencing the concept of BR for the first time ever. Running into people of all skill levels, not knowing what to expect from each and every match. Every one was unique. But with SBMM and especially bots? That's just not the case. I'm expecting to run into 50% bot lobbies almost every match. I'm expecting most of my wins to not feel rewarding or satisfying. I'm expecting playing to just feel... like a drag. I really hope Epic sees the insane amount of negative feedback these changes (especially Bots) have caused and reconsiders. But given how we're probably just a loud minority in the grand scheme of things, I really doubt they'll even touch upon these "matchmaking improvements" ever again. I think this is just the future of OG moving forward just like how it's the future of BR itself. And to me, that's just not exciting.

Personally, I never see bots in my games, but I guess it may be due to what regions and times you’re playing? I’m not sure but based on most things I’ve seen about Fortnite, there’s either no bots or too many.

Im confused with what Mystic says, if anything, The OG mode after Chapter 4 was the halfbaked one. The graphics felt too modern and the lootpools were very inconsistent. If anything this new Chapter OG OG mode feels like a much more complete version, issues it has yes but far from half baked. Their were plenty of improvements made with the new OG mode They brought back fog, kept the classic graphics while only really tinkering with the lighting to improve it, 1 to 1 map copy, NEAR IDENTICAL loot pool, og loot models (sniper model is likely different due to interference with colorblind mode???) Og loot sounds, og loot icons, return of 999 mats, return of traps. That and he seems to nitpick over smaller things yet says other things that arent OG are okay to stay. Irs like the community is playing pick and choose as to which features should stay and GO. As for bots, after watching streamers videos and thru my own experience, Epic seems to have handled bots much better this time around. By the time its top 10- top 15 players I almost NEVER come across any more bots, wins feel so much more rewarding compared to regular battle royale Id prefer no bots at all dont get me wrong but they seem to have tuned down the bots to the point where unless you are literally a bottom of the barrel player, Bots arent taking over the island

Ngl, I prefer playing OG with Bots and SBMM. For players like me who have been playing for years for pure fun and can still barely build/aim after 7 years, the 1st week of OG was sweaty hell! I feel the new movement makes OG way more fun and way less sluggish, especially after getting so use to the new movement. Having less of everything makes you play way more strategically, the lack of heals/ammo are a plus in my eyes compared to how easy they are to get this current BR. The storm should be fast, as you said it makes it more of a threat, making the storm slower would ruin that threat. Simply saying “go play current BR for a fast-paced game” is stupid to say as you may not like current BR. As I said previously, keeping tac sprint, sliding and mantling breathes fresh air into OG and makes it way more fun, at least in my eyes. I agree with you on the point of movement animations, at least for me the new animations feel better to use (also can I point out the side-by-side Chapter 1 to Chapter 5 comparison shows the release chapter 5 movement and not the current movement I think). Also saying stuff about “OG with a life outside of Fortnite”, that is the worst excuse I’ve ever heard and completely agree that it’s unfair to bring up lmao. If this was truely a nostalgia bait, they would’ve copy-pasted the chapter 1 graphics from save-the-world and would’ve put no where near as much effort as they have. I completely agree that the current HUD is simply better than the OG HUD, it just feels better to play. Also having a setting to change the HUD would probably have ppl crying about it being unfair due to which small tiles you can see lmao. Like you said for the scar, I completely thought all the models were OG lmao. Removing Turbo building would sorta destroy build mode completely imo and cause more drama than it’s worth, especially looking back at the Season X drama lmao. Also saying stuff about the skill ceiling, this is why you need SBMM and Bots, the old John Wick sweat levels are now everyone’s current noob level lol. Yet again about SBMM, it’s not about being comfortable with losing, it’s about never getting the amazing experience of the late game zone without getting clapped mid-game lmao. I do agree with possibly having a “No SBMM” mode like with “Fill”/“No-Fill”. At least for me I have barely any bots in my games, so bots can go but SBMM NEEDS to stay in the current meta. Yet again, it’s not about being “comfortable with losing”, it’s about wanting a chill game (like Mystic said) without the sweats curb-stomping my awful ass lmao (I’ve won in OG like 3 times in my 50ish-70ish matches with my old friends lol). Although I do see why you dislike SBMM and Bots, I think it is necessary to at least be toggleable due to the skill ceiling constantly rises, and not having to worry to rise with it to still have some satisfying wins lmao. As far as a 1-to-1 for OG no body actually wants that. You think you do but you definitely do not want it outside of a few games. Epic definitely did the research to know what's the best wide spread approval for the mode. I do want the old art style back but I do want that for the game as a whole. Now I'm only against SBMM because without it you always have the best connection players you play against vs possibly getting laggy connections with other players.

The entire point of bringing back season one as a game mode is to get players back into the game using nostalgia. In my opinion, removing half of the features from season one that made it OG is a poor decision, as it detracts from the game's appeal to those who prefer the original version rather than a hybrid of the new season and the old one. If you want to play with the new movement, or any of the other quality-of-life features, play the current season, but if you want to be taken back to the good ol' days of OG Fortnite, play that. We shouldn't have to deal with this half-baked OG game mode that isn't even truly what it was like back in the day; it completely defeats the purpose of it coming back imo.

guys. there is an objective reason for the backlash and its a very easy one to fix but its just that people arent informed. its the engine the game runs on! it used to run on unreal engine 4 which made it extremely smooth and grounded and all weapons functioned as intended. the guns didnt have bloom, the running WAS quick enough without mantling or sliding, AND THE GRAPHICS WERE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! just look at old footage from season 8 for example. it isnt just the graphic style, the graphics themselves hit in a very specific way. ITS NOT NOSTALGIA, EPIC JUST DOESNT WANT TO GO BACK TO THE OLD ENGINE! if you dont believe me, play EZFN, and have some fun because thats literally the best fortnite can offer. depending on when you play you can get full lobbies, no stupid bots, and perfect unreal engine 4.
