Yes and no…. It’s cheap but on the other hand if it’s not super effective … it’s ok for a moisturiser but I don’t think you’ll find a decent serum in a drugstore…

I'm traveling in Czechia and on a budget right now. When I used up all my moisturizer, I tried out the Balea Urea Night cream and my skin loved it! My skin was struggling, so dehydrated, and now it's so balanced and my pores are so much smaller. And it's less than $5. I'm going to bring several bottles home.

Hello, Dr. Anne! I'm very glad you decided to review affordable German brands. Comparing to the prices in The Netherlands, these products seem too cheap to contain anything valuable. And when they try to mimic "the big guys" like "The Paula's Choice" or "The Ordinary", they look even more suspicious. But it isn't a secret, German products can be good and affordable at the same time. That's why I've been searching for a professional opinion, some answers for simple questions like: Is it enough what is in there? Does it really work? Is it good formulated? Et.c. Thank you for the video, and I hope you'll make more reviews on local brands. ❤❤

Thanks for the review! I'm glad dm and rossmann are stepping up their game in terms of actives. I found the 2% bha exfoliant gentler (maybe less dehydrating?) than the grey Paula's choice one. However, the persistent greasiness of the balea is too much for me, as is the Paula's choice pricepoint, so I will keep looking. As a retinol newbie I also tried the retinol/bakuchiol serum thinking it would be gentler than a 'true' retinol serum, then heard a chemist's perspective on it on youtube, and continued to use it on my feet 😂

Thank you for the succinct, yet thorough review of the new Balea line! Given the rising inflation currently plaguing Germany, I imagine that I am not the only one who appreciates a review of a more affordable skincare line! Vielen, vielen Dank! (PS: I am still waiting on your review of red lipsticks. :))

Yes, I can imagine people will see where they can cut their expenses, and skincare is a good place to start, you can have an awesome routine with affordable products if you know what to look for. And yes, the red lipsticks... That might take a while, there are so many in my collection!

I would love to hear your Videos in german! I think that now in 2022 there are a lot of people, who are very interested in such great reviews and research!

I believe there are, but I build my audience in English from the start, and right now 65% have English as their first language and only 12% German, and while I assume that most Germans do speak English, as do many Spanish or Italian or Arabic speaking people, none of the ones mentioned here would understand German. And filming/ editing the same video twice just isn't possible for me. So I am really sorry, but I will have to continue in English with subtitles.

I use the Beauty Expert Liquid Peeler and it works great for me. I don't mind the greasiness at all because I have very dry, eczema prone skin that doesn't secret almost any sebum, so this peeler doesn't feel like much to me in that sense.

Hi Dt Anne the serum sounds quite nice and some of this brand is available here in the UK on Amazon, so I might try it if I can. I have used a couple of things from this brand before, as they have a few gentle fragrance free options. Overall what I tried from them in the past was fairly basic, but on my reactive, rosacea and eczema prone skin basic isn't a bad thing. I do use specific actives, but the rest of my routine is built of calming/soothing and moisturising products. What I do appreciate about this line is the exclusion of HA, as my skin is not happy with an excess of this ingredient. There are others who struggle with HA and perhaps something here will suit them too. I find 2% BHA just a bit much and prefer the 1% BHA from the paula's choice calm line used a couple of times a week. The texture of that product works as a serum for me and the 30ml travel size lasts me ages used this way - it's around £10 for 30mls, which isn't expensive for a "serum". Best wishes.

The lack of Hyaluronic Acid is really interesting, I have been getting few questions for that lately and it is great to have some options there. And I agree, basic, calming and soothing is great when your skin is either reactive on its own or you pair it with strong actives, I always have these products in my routine. I would love to hear what you think of it should you get a chance to try it.

Hey Dr. Anne! I bought the Balea 2% BHA Peeling and I patch tested it earlier, but it left my forehead oily feeling. I want to use it for some white and blackheads. Should I keep using it? If yes, how? Should I pat the oily residue with a towel?
@DoctorAnne Жыл бұрын
The oily feeling isn't oil, but another ingredient, so it shouldn't affect how it works. I don't use it on my face for that reason though, but instead the one fraom Paula's Choice. But that one is a lot more expensive, so you will have to see if the better feeling is worth the extra money for you. Performance shouldn't be altered.

Could you make a review of the new French brand Nooance? It’s pricey but it seems that there are plenty of actives thus worth it (???)
@DoctorAnne2 жыл бұрын
I hadn't heard of the brand, but I had a quick look at their website and I really like their aesthetics. The products seem really nice as well in terms of ingredients, but at this price point you usually pay for the texture, packaging and story as well as for the actives, so the "worth it" part is hard to judge. When you look at the Copper Peptide serum they have, it is more expensive that the version from The Ordinary, but at around the same price as my favorite, the one form NIOD. I still purchase the NIOD because I love the texture so much more than The Ordinary, so for me it is worth it - if I only shopped by ingredients, I would probably decide otherwise.

@@DoctorAnne it seems very affordable. Primark also seems to have some good options for people on a budget/teenagers - but some teenagers have fancier skincare than me. I had my first pulse dye laser session today. There are some purpura scattered about but I think I definitely need a shorter pulse duration to target the smaller vessels elsewhere. Picking a Tuesday was maybe a bad idea in hindsight, since I can’t skip class - but I will wear a mask on put colour corrector and concealer on top of the exposed areas. I have paid for 5 more
@DoctorAnne2 жыл бұрын
@@moose8762 Oh, that sounds interesting. How long between sessions?
@moose87622 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorAnne 3 weeks usually. But I don’t think I will be able to do more than 4 with that interval. I will be on placements next year from January 3rd, so probably won’t be able to go around a hospital covered in purpura. So, Easter recess and then summer after exams makes the most sense. I think if I get him to go very bruising on the next few that should be fine. I don’t think things will revert to usual after a 4 month period since the laser actually destroys the blood vessels. What I see from Reddit accounts/progress images, I don’t think it should take more than 6-7 to clear. From what I can tell, you need to suffer the purpura to see results. They aren’t painful at all, just blood from the destroyed vessels. The laser exposure required to produce purpura increases with the pulse width/duration. So, shorter durations tend to be more effective. I would rather have more purpura - even everywhere that there is redness - than to have less results, more sessions, and scattered purpura

The niacinamide lotion is cool, but the peeling cleanser is just not it. And that's it because I don't like the texture and the smell is just horribly awful even though it's fragrance free.
@DoctorAnne Жыл бұрын
Many fragrance-free products smell awful, as sometimes the added fragrance isn't used as perfume, but to mask the scent of the ingredients. It is a shame though, I have a hard time using smelly products too.
