Opa would travel for work, come home and tell us tales of the towns and people who he'd come back from. As a farm girl, These we're wild Stories! Now, I am the grandma telling the children tales.😍

I must say Ian, _The Find_ was most unexpected. I've never read/heard it before, and it was a pleasant surprise to see Carnacki in something more like a detective story than his usual paranormal or faked paranormal encounters. This collection has kept me entertained for the better part of a week now, it's one of your best, and Carnacki reminds me of your own character Van Melsen, or should it be the other way around? Can you picture it chaps?

Thousands of years of bloodshed and carnage throughout the British Empire had finally been quieted by the dawn of the 20th century, and condensed in literature by Dickens, and later by Henry James into scary but harmless Edwarian ghost stories. Then WW1 came roaring in, and the real bloodshed and carnage said "Step aside, puny stories. We're back!!" That said, this site is awesome. I love these ghost stories!

One of the reasons I love vintage ghost stories is that the writers tended to not only be polymaths, but a lot of them were adept occultists and it gave their tales a deeper, more visceral sense of otherworldliness.
