If you mean Video Game Director's Cuts (VGDC), it's even earlier. Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom started in 2003. And some of those were even earlier. Mack Daddy Mario was made in 2000 for example.

I cannot wait for Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for Switch and I would love to see a Donkey Kong Country Inspired Switch or Switch 2 Special Edition Consoles! ❤ It would be amazing to get remakes of the 1st, 2nd & 3rd SNES games!
