Thanks, I have a background in IT Development and have done a good bit of training. We are ALL Noobs to things every day - there is always something new to learn every day. I recall when I started Crypto it was very hard to find people who explained things in a way (at a level) that I really understood. BTW, If your looking for ATX Power supplies since you were watching this video EVGA currently has a Sale on their Supernova G2 1300 watt units (and their 100 watts uits too) - its like $ 100 off w free shipping in the US - so its like $ 209. I have never seen them this low. Plus you can get extra 10 % off with our EVGA associates code. PL7Q1P3PAGVTOS3 www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=120-G2-1300-XR

Great video with far fewer likes than it deserves. Really useful information on important topics. Would have saved me money and grief if I knew that modular cables are not interchangable as they can actually have different polarity. I fried 2 pcs of 10TB hard drives which will be very expensive to replace given I will have to pay data recovery services as these were mirrored drives holding archived personal photos...

@@CryptoMiningInsider Amazing video, I already watched when published, I was asking in the sense that make a build using consumer grade hardware. ATX motherboards have 2 x16 & 3/4 x4 slots usually. people normally have 500w-700w psu. so you start with normal gaming pc and add some gpu & psu to it. I think it'll be a great idea. Ofcouse, if time permits. PS - I've decent knowledge of mining and I don't need such tutorial but that's how I started (I only have 2 gpus in my system, started mining recently, but I had knowledge for about a year.) I'm not an electrician or a pro so I don't advice, just share my journey. My understanding from what I seen and read is to only use up to 80 % the electric capacity of a circuit. If I have 1800 Watts circuit, then I only use 80% of it for continuous use so I can only use 1440 watts maximum Thats my understanding, but please do your own research - this is not advice and I am not a Pro.

Hello Thank you for your great video I was wondering , Can I use the maximum amount on a Platinum Server PSU? Say I have a 1200W Platinum HP server PSU , I have a 240Volt electricity , Can I use the full 1200W? Or should I stick to 80% rule and not use more than 960W? I don't care about the noise on PSU fans. Thanks
@CryptoMiningInsider
@CryptoMiningInsider 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm not an electrician or pro, but It's my understanding you can use the full amount of the Server PSU wattage (I recall reading this on a post), but should still should stay to the 80 % rule of the electric circuit. You should contact Parallel Miner about the PSU limit and consult an licensed electrician if you have questions about your circuit load, wiring, etc. to be safe.

Thanks I really appreciate your compliment. I remember when I started building rigs there was a lot of information but it was scattered in different places- I was hoping that by doing a 1 bigger video that covered multiple Power supplies it would be more beneficial for everyone to see them side by side and and simplify their comparison and understanding of them all. Honestly, I never connected more than 2 ATX PSUs with a Multi PSU Adapter. I have done 3 using an adapter and a Dummy Tet Plug for my 3rd and it was only on a test rig temporary situation Hmmm. now I'm curious, I will test it !

You say that server psus run more hot than atx ones, does that mean they dump more heat into the room per watt too?
@CryptoMiningInsider
@CryptoMiningInsider 2 жыл бұрын
Server PSU are very efficient generally but have small fans than run high speed to exhaust the heat. The GPUs generate the majority of the heat from a mining rig.

how do you switch atx and server psus in parallel in one rig
@CryptoMiningInsider
@CryptoMiningInsider 3 жыл бұрын
I generally just turn on server PSU 1st, then start the rig on an ATX, but the server PSUs have breakout boards that can accept a remote power source like Molex cable which can start it.

Is it safe if running parallel psu with different wattage? Like 1000 watt combine with 850 watt
@CryptoMiningInsider
@CryptoMiningInsider 3 жыл бұрын
I run dual PSU at different wattage using a 24pin adapter to switch them on / off together One PSU will power the motherboard and maybe some GPU, the other PSU will only power more GPUs - the PSUs don't power the same devices. I power each GPU and its riser usig the same PSU. I'm not a pro PC / Rig builder so I can't answer if it's safe, just saying I do it and never had an issue.

Any thoughts on making a video on troubleshooting? I have a Windows 10 5 GPU mining rig that crashes efter 15-40 minutes. 1x3080Ti 283W, 1x3080 250W, 1x 3070Ti, 1x3060Ti 1x3060. I ran it on a used MB so first step was to test with new MB/CPU, same crashing, next suspected China no-name 2000W ATX mining PSU, changed to a quality PSU, same issue. Now awaiting new v011 GPU risers. Can you share any experience or insights with issues using cheap GPU risers?

@@CryptoMiningInsider Thanks, I did that to no avail (I'm an old MCSE certified IT Pro). I have a second 5 GPU rig running next to it which is running very reliably 2x3070 (non LHR), 3x3060 LHR with a Corsair RM1000x PSU. It's running with another brand of GPU risers. I guess I could start swapping cards into the stable rig for troubleshooting but other than that I'm down with the GPU risers as the culprit so I thought I'd ask if you ever experienced any issues with cheap ones... Thanks for taking the time to respond, I'm very grateful 🙌🏻

@@CryptoMiningInsider the stable rig is running an old left over Asus Z97 Pro MB with 6 PCIe slots old 4770K with 32GB DDR3 RAM (overkill but had it laying around). All GPU risers plugged directly into MB. The rig that keeps crashing after a while had an MSI Mate B250 with an i5 7600K and 8GB DDR4 RAM i picked up used for cheap 4 GPUs plugged into an 1-to-4 PCIe adapter plugged into the 16x PCIe1 slot and 1 GPU riser plugged directly into a MB PCIe 1x slot. I bought and swapped to a new H410 MB and i3 10105F CPU. As I'm typing I realize it could be the GPU risers but could also be the 1-to-4 PCIe adapter that is causing the crashes. Well I guess I'll be able to determine tomorrow when the new GPU risers arrive... I only have these two rigs as a hobby and not a big mining operation but it hurts to have had one of the ride unusable for weeks so if I would do it again I would invest in quality gear fit for purpose rather than spending time and money on trying to re-purpose and optimize old stuff. Will let you know. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience 👍🏻

@@carlnakamura4861 Early on when I started mining I was buying some used items on Ebay to save cash, but after 1 or 2 things stopped working, I changed my strategy and buy new to avoid these types of headaches which are often more costly than just paying extra upfront but getting something reliable. Reliability is key to mining. Every minute rig a is down is lost revenue. Good Luck and hope you get it back up quick !
