Elites customers only the ones that can afford the rest of the millions of Filipinos struggling to make ends meet and live like rats, while these elites live a lavish lifestyle controlling the cost of living of the country. Sad indeed. A true Third Word Country where the income and wealth inequality is out of control. They can live like kings in Philippines but when they go out of the country they are still Filipinos nothing to be proud of.

Apparently, the zobels were on the 'poor' side of the roxas-ayala family. Hence they inherited an "unproductive' marshland while their relatives got the 'prime' businesses/properties It was a wealthy and enterprising in-law (mcmicking) that turned the family's fortune around, by develeping the marshland into what is now makati cbd. The profits derived from this highly-succesful venture went into acquiring majority shares in flagship companies like bpi etc And the rest is history

Can’t possibly be a complete account if there’s nothing on the gold. McMicking was the aide de camp to MacArthur when they were able to liberate some of the biggest treasure trove ever, worth Gazzillions. Yamashita was hanged after a quick trial & his driver was coerced into giving up the location of some it. This was why the US eagerly jumped into the war in the first place. It can be said that America became great because of Asian gold, Chinese gold, looted by Japan from 12 Asian nations. Ayala also could have gotten hold of the photos of maps supplied by the driver & spirited away by the engineer & the spiritual medium who, in the 1970s both of whom escaped to America from the clutches of Marcos’ military. Incidentally, Napoleon Valeriano, classmate of Marcos & CIA point man for gold recovery…happens to be the stepfather of Greggy Araneta … who is cousin of Lisa. Some of the recovered treasure MacArthur shared with the Meiji empire ( as some kind of consuelo de bobo) & its bodyguards which later became the LDP. … Some went into funding post-war institutions such as the UN, World Bank & IMF & some went into infrastructure, the freeway system, & the “ reconstruction “ of America. Most went into the military industrial complex for more & more endless war. Ayala is not backed by real estate… it’s the gold. That’s why it’s Ayala, not Sy family that’s wealthiest. See Gold Warriors by Peggy & Sterling Seagrave. ( Amazon & KZbin )

I had to stop watching at 0:50 when the narrator mentioned that the Spaniards ruled the Philippines for 333 years and was not profitable......SERIOUSLY? Was it possible that the Spaniards finally opened the archipelago for business after pillaging the natives for hundreds of years? Ever heard of the Galleon Trade? Why would the Spaniards risk so much invading a non-profitable group of islands half-way around the world? FILIPINOS NEED TO REALLY CONDUCT THOROUGH RESEARCH AND USE COMMON SENSE AND NOT RELY ON UNSUBSTANTIATED INFORMATION TO GLORIFY THIS OR THAT PERSON. How about investigating indigenous brands like the fishponds throughout the country and how the technology was developed and to this day are still being used?
@AureliusLaurentius10993 жыл бұрын
You know its pretty costly to run a colony especialy half way around the world since you need soldiers to police and protect the colony and supplies. Amateurs speak of tactics, professionals speak of logistics. It doesn't matter if you own a mountain filled with gold when you can't get there.

Ikaw nag research ba?
@girlsquad2243 жыл бұрын
What he said was an oversimplification which can be wrong. To say it fairly nalang, the Philippines was seen as not as profitable as compared to the Spanish Empire's territories in the New world where it is evident that they put much greater value/focus on all aspects. Plus, the archipelago was a literal peripheral territory which can be factored as well. The Philippines was perhaps eagerly kept primarily because of its geographical proximity to great eastern economies like china and other Asiatic countries whom the Europeans traded with a lot at that time. So the Philippine islands was an still integral trading outpost in the East and still a great source of agricultural manpower for native crops. But when Spain started loosing its colonies/territories/provinces in the 1800s, it was compelled to focus on its remaining colonies and that included the Philippines. Consequently, Spain was a declining power at the time because of past wars and was very late in the industrialisation game so, the Philippines was still inadequately developed until its eventual independence.

San Miguel Group is also kinda controlled by the Ayalas, San Miguel's holding firm TopFrontier Holdings is controlled by Inigo Zobel hence the full surname of the Ayala Family, "Zobel De Ayala".

In a democratic govt, there is always a free enterprise and free competition. There will be a winner and a loser. The winner gets the reward and loser gets nothing. If the winner has the advantage of good education,independence and strong endurance in work then the winner is likely to become rich while the loser has no education, dependent on others, and weak work attitudes , the loser is likely to become impoverished. If poverty is the result of defeat in competition, there is nobody to blame but himself.
