I think it was more about the sustainability of it and controlling the rage it induces. But overcoming the rage into a calm mind isn't possible in that form. I believe it was explained that going into SS took a huge toll on their body/ stamina in the first place, so staying in the form and learning to deal with/ be comfortable just living in it reduces the impact, thus giving more usable energy/ stamina

I’ve always understood that Super Kaioken can only be used when Goku is dead because the rage power of SSJ would cause Kaioken to go out of control and kill him, so no I do not think Goku could have utilized Super Kaioken against Cell. Also the reason I think he doesn’t have the effects of Delayed Onset Ki Disorder in fights after Hit with Blue Kaioken is the same reason he didn’t really get wrecked as much using it in base, his body got used to it, plus Goku had a better understanding of SSB like you stated. the difference is that without the evil inside of him his stamina has a limit now as does his energy well upside is he is still a literal tank that could likely use it all day with no issue and turn it off while he slept. so your correct but if he were to get into a long battle like against basil in super while using it buu likely wouldnt be able to keep it going he would of exhausted himself if he tried mostly cause he didnt take the fight seriously but

With the clamness and control that comes with SSJG, I think Goku would have been able to reach even higher power multipliers in that form. Perhaps Kaioken x1000 with time and training. I like to think that pushing his power level higher and higher in the SSJG form would allow him to unlock more powerful forms, like SSJ3 & 4, but with the red hair/fur. They could've still moved onto blue after fulling exploring SSJG. Feels like a missed opportunity.

Sounds like Kaio-ken was responsible for a lot of Goku’s growth before he became a super saiyan, King Kai underestimated how much the damage of high multipliers would play into Goku’s Saiyan biology.

I think it was explained at some point somewhere? Maybe it's just headcanon. But Nobody else really has the ability to sustain it and manage the damage to their body. Maybe Tien, but it would probably tear Krillin and Yamcha to shreds, Vegeta is too angry, and Piccolo almost always refuses outside help. Even when he was with King Kai, he spent most of his time just floating around meditating. I was always more annoyed that they never asked the dragon for a power boost. I was so happy when Piccolo finally did in Super Hero and the explanation actually works. The orange piccolo is a bit odd, but the Dragon, being a Namekian creation, giving a boost just makes sense in the same way that the Elder did to Gohan

I 100% believe that the power of Kiao Ken plus Super Saiyan would have been enough for Cell. I feel fine about him being beaten so easily because Paikon was almost on SS2 level to me and cell couldn’t beat Gohan so an almost SS2 Level Goku with all the bonuses would have been able to fight Paikon

Loved when Goku used it when he used it against hit in super. Having the red and blue together was pretty dope. Maybe wrong but is super Saiyan as 50x multiplier would it be equivalent to a kaioken x50. Could be wrong but figure it’s why it was phased out as SS is the equivalent to 50x without the strain on the body.

Yes, in terms of a power increase, regular Super Saiyan and Kaiō-Ken x50 are equivalent, but Super Saiyan increases the Saiyan's power by unlocking a portion of their potential, while Kaiō-Ken increases the user's power by amplifying the _ki_ he/she is already using.

Great video Geekdom. It pretty much confirms what I thought. The way I like to think about it is the Kaioken is essentially the equivalent of a supercharger on a muscle car engine or a high-performance propeller airplane engine. When you use it, you get a major performance boost, but you need to be careful because if you overuse it doing so could blow up your engine, much like what happened to Goku‘s body when he first learned the technique from King Kai. Now that his body has become more accustomed to training as we’ve seen in Dragon Ball Super he can use the technique without much worry of drawbacks. Essentially, the “engine” of Goku‘s body has gotten way better which means the Kaioken when used will make Goku‘s performance even better. Make sense?

I want to know what would Perfect Cell be like with Kio-ken? Like Cell has Goku's cells so he can do everything that Goku can do, at least up to that time, and even in the Kai dub Imperfect Cell mentions that he can use Kio-ken to Spirit Bomb, anyway, you mentioned that Kio-ken will break down Goku's cells and that he would damage his body in some way if he can't rest and recover to heal his body with new cells, but Cell has Piccolo's cells, so he can regenerate like Piccolo, and even better than Piccolo, like that time when Goku used the instant transmission Kamehameha on Perfect Cell, and Perfect Cell was able to regenerate from that like his whole head, and things like that, which Piccolo said in the Buu Saga that he can regenerate if his head stays intact, so Perfect Cell has better regeneration than Piccolo and the other Namekians, I'm guessing, but anyway, if Perfect Cell can use the Kio-Ken can he use it way better than Goku or anyone else, with his powerful regeneration that he can heal himself *while* using Kio-ken so he can use it maybe forever, or at least a great while longer than anyone else, or would Perfect Cell not be able to really use Kio-ken? Like Imperfect Cell said that he *can* use the Kio-ken, but as in you Cell videos, and in the anime itself, Perfect Cell has personalities in line with like Frieza and Vegeta, just the cockiness, and arrogance, which you mentioned that Perfect Cell is probably more so cocky and arrogant than Frieza, so if he is like that, would it be difficult for him to actually aline his mind, body, and spirit to actually, or I should rather say properly, access Kio-ken? If I remember correctly, Goku wasn't able to sustain Super Kaio-ken for more than 10 seconds in the Other World Tournament. Amd that was with his DEAD body, which is supposed to be more sturdy and have a near infinite ki supply (bearing in mind that Goku could only use SSJ3 at its full potential when he was DEAD)...

what I don't get...is when the Z warriors trained with King Kai....why weren't THEY didn't learn the technique even though they were able to withstand all the same training that Goku was able to withstand....so other than plot armor....it makes no sense why they didn't learn or use the techniqie...especially since they made short work of the Ginyu Force when they attacked King Kai's planet... and if it's more of a spiritual thing...i would think Tien of all of the Z warriors would have been able to withstand that portion of the intense training...cause he's possibly the only one who could have been possible to withstand the effects it would have on the person themselves... it's understandable and simple common sense that Goku is Saiyan and that's why he's a special case.... so that does not escape me...but would have been a total missed opportunity to have his friends (the Z warriors) to have a chance to at least fight along side Goku which would have been much more enjoyable instead of Goku just leaving everybody in the dust....making them utterly useless when it comes to engaging in battles to save the worlds/realm/universe. i absolutely loved how they made it so for earthlings relavent during the DBS series ... especially how well Roshi did in the TOP.... it was so awesome Roshi took out 3 fighters himself in the TOP...and ESPECIALLY.....when he got mad props from Beerus for doing so well... which everyone knows anything about Beerus....any possible accolades from Beerus AT ALL...is beyond high praise...💯

Base Kiaoken is a .5 multiplier… It’s weird but that’s how the numbers always worked out based off earlier power level charts. Base Goku in Saiyan was 8000 Kaio Ken made it 12000 Kaio Ken x2 increases it to 16000 So if you notice, even with x2, he is still under Vegeta’a 18000 power level. So, an x3 would put him to 24000. Which matches up with Scouter numbers Bulma shows before it blows up.

because of the foundation of the super kaio ken, vs the version used in super which is putting it on top of SSB goku likely would of died had he used super kai-o ken in the cell games, because goku almost blew himself up with a times 3 back in the saiyan saga by over using his energy by trying to push his energy further while a super saiyan his energy would of destroyed his body before he would of been able to attack cell. i think Old Kai and goku cover alot of this in super, that because of how the Kai-o ken works it puts to much stress on the body, and while super saiyan does the same the differences are huge, stacking a move that multiplies your energy would of killed goku back in Z because he didnt have the ki control he does in super to be able to control that much energy, and goku said it himself when he used kai-o ken blue the first time in super that with the amount of energy he was using he would of died had he not had perfect control and that the control came from using god ki. Thus goku can only use the Super Kai-o ken in Z when hes dead otherwise he'd blow himself up.

The way I’ve always explained it was Kaioken was double your power. Kaioken x2 =quad power. Kaioken x3 =6xpower. So kaioken x10 is really your power x 20

We know that a person don't use their full strength all the time, and it must be the same with Goku, so when he use Kaioken it increases all his strength, speed, endurance to its max level, Goku's power level when he fought Raditz was 416 but when he charged up a Kame Hame Ha it increase to 924 and was still increasing, so let us say att full power Goku's Kame Hame Ha would put him in maybe 964, so during the battle Goku's Power level probably flexed between 416 to some where under 700 or 800. Now when it comes to Kaioken it would put his Power Level up to its max that he could come up to that was let us say 964 for a short time, and times 2 would double that. Let us say a person believes that they can only lift max 40Kg, but in reality by pushing the boddy they lift up to 55Kg anything above that and their body automatically give up, so if that person use Kaioken then he/she could lift 55Kg easier from the start, and with times 2 that person could lift up to 110Kg.

The cell goku fought and the cell gohan fought are at 2 different levels. That makes it more likely that goku could’ve killed cell with a kaioken boost. I’d like to add that goku and gohan trained the ssj form to be like their base form which would’ve helped keep the kaioken from killing him at least

Since Cell has Goku’s DNA from his fight with Vegeta during the Saiyan invasion, Cell should also know the Kaioken too.

It's probably safe to say that the other Z fighters know how to use kaioken just their body can't handle the physical consequences that comes with it. Picolo would be interesting with his regenerative abilities tho.

piccollo with the kai- ken would be crazy overpowered. I mean with a kaio-ken he could demolish second form and third form frezia. He could also destroy 17 post kami fusion.

Kaio means king Kai. Same way Shishio means king lion. Or Yugio is king of games. @1:44 ... Or at least that's what I thought. The o refers to greatness. Like an Odachi is a greatsword.

It makes sense why goku was able to achieve super saiyan first. Though vegeta from his first meeting with goku was stronger, goku always pushed past his limits. By the frieza saga he already passed vegeta in power due to raw training. Krillins death was clearly the trigger but he would’ve achieved it regardless by just pushing his body similar to the ways kaioken does. I feel learning this technique allowed him to be to evolve past his limitations. Super saiyan is activated through emotions not really just being strong take broly for example, but i feel kaioken could’ve played a factor.

Regarding the super kaioken transformation, theoretically… if goku would have activated the kaioken during super saiyan and then deactivated both forms right before the combination killed him, wouldn’t his ability to receive zenkai boosts allow him to withstand the combined form for prolonged periods of time afterwards? I know its a bit of a gamble for him to do that (more of a vegeta move) but it should work no?

Being that she’s was a martial artist herself and is married to goku, I don’t think that it’s too far-fetched to think that chi-chi knows the technique. I mean she did help goten turn super. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I will never understand dragon balls fan’s tendency to discredit anything thats a joke from being canon , they still happened??! Theyre in the story , saying its just a gag when the author is known for writing gag anime is goofy , and yall are really selective on what jokes are canon , but if you just say every joke isnt really in the story then the story kinda falls apart sometimes . That being said i dont think chichi has kaioken i think its just her own red aura
