Interesting! I have the Regardie and I'm just waiting for the Cicero's self-initiation into the GD to arrive.. but i have the distinct feeling, i might also add this one to the collection. Btw, Denis, i also have The Secret Freemasonry of a Priest in the Temple of Nature en route - thanks for mentioning that particular book, i am really excited for that one and i would have missed it if it wasn't for your channel!

Finally have "The Complete Initiation Rituals of the Golden Dawn" in hand. This newly planted seed of light may well see a Renaissance of Golden Dawn Temples. Is it really that different to what is published by the Stella Matutina? Short answer is yes. The long answer is that it restores several features of the original Golden Dawn including: Important information on the sashes. This includes the direction of wearing in GD, AO and early SM. If implemented this will already be a major reform within the working of GD temples. The presence of the Sentinel throughout the outer Order. Frater Yechidah also addresses the misinformation around the sentinel in The Light Extended volume 6, including that originally they didn't have a lamen. Speaking of lamen, we see the designs somewhat differ, with no containing white borders on the lamens of the inferior officers. We are also given the original portal used in both the original GD and AO (the Stella Matutina version only written in the 1910s, and vastly different) Many diagrams used and shown to the initiate during the initiations are restored, text clarified, and in many cases redrawn. We are given the Golden Dawn 6=5 (which is huge). And in appendices we have the original Equinox ceremony, differing from that of the SM, Ritual J (5=6 obligation), Ritual K (the consecration of the vault), the consecration of a new temple, and the Ritual installation of chiefs. These last two, to the best of my knowledge, have never been published and given us new streams of information for running GD temples. This volume is academic in that it compares and notes differences in multiple texts, with over 3,600 footnotes and over 500 pages. For those seeking a workable ritual, the sources for Ritual, rubric and the basis for the diagrams and implements are all here. The script (spoken bits) are in black while the rubric (stage instructions) are in grey, making the text very readable. For about a decade starting in the noughties, Yechidah and colleagues ran a Temple in Ireland, working these rituals for the first time since the 1900s. This book is scholarly, yes, but infinitely practical. Bravo and thank you!

And not to flog a dead horse, but the Regardie rituals and texts are higgeldy piggeldy. Missing bits, missing diagrams. Functionally it's not even performable as is. The full SM ritual isn't in Regardie. Zalewskis Rituals and Commentaries is closer but with a lot of personal interpretation and extrapolation, not properly identified as such. The Farrell AO ritual, Mathers Last Secret, committed diagrams and also projects all sorts onto it. Now the Aries Press Regardie is public domain one could do the same with the SM ritual by fixing the many issues with the regardie. John Michael Greer did some of this. But really it needs to be redone from scratch (and with regardis name removed)

Used to have a huge GD collection. Then I decided to start practicing and realized just as with Crowley the GD was way more bark than bite. Threw my GD stuff in the garbage. If you want to practice Kabbalah there is no better source than Jacobus Swart. Most of the people compiling the GD material made pretty basic mistakes because they didn't speak Hebrew. Those mistakes have simply been parroted over the years.

I'm a huge fan of Jacobus G Swart's work, I think he's one of the most important occultists out there right now.

How different are the rituals from the ones in Cicero’s big book?
@FoolishFishBooks16 күн бұрын
Let me repeat, there are no rituals here, just the initiation ceremonies. The differences are subtle, but clear. Being the original, it seems that they should be the official ones.

So are this the Rituals as done in Whare Ra?
@FraterRC17 күн бұрын
No those are Stella matutina as found in Regardie but better found in Golden Dawn Rituals and Commentaries by Zalewski
@subrosamagus17 күн бұрын
These are the original GD. They haven't been published before. AO has been published (badly) and the SM/ whare Ra as you call it. It also restores a lot of corrupted or missing diagrams and errors in other books

I don't understand how is this special if it is just print on demand. Why not making the next editions also hardcovers?

I guess it's a way for the editor to make a little money for his hard work. Most people, as I said, will want the paperback.
@anachronistofer16 күн бұрын
Puzzling that they would limit a print-on-demand book. They should print as many as demand dictates.
