"Did I tell you about the Immune System?" Karl Pilkington
This compilation starts with a number of prescient divinations from the man himself in the context of the current coronavirus pandemic.
Then it moves to his feelings about health, medicine, devolving to his feelings about the wonders of nature and some ideas about the future in this brave new world. Clips from the XFM show.
Hope you and your loved ones are safe and well, and coping during this difficult time.

3:15:00 Karl's describing augmented reality glasses and Ricky says "absolutely mental point, this would never work, absolutely one of the maddest things you've ever said". I wonder how many times Ricky has realised that Karl was right and that he sounded like a right twat for mocking him.
@ayaku2253
@ayaku2253 3 ай бұрын
To be fair, if you listen to what Karl says it is farfetched. He says you can live in a field and put some glasses on that show the real surroundings as an urban ghetto with graffiti on the walls, and you could live life that way. Also it is not that he has ideas, he read all that stuff from magazines and misunderstood them. Ricky exaggerates in the reaction because he knows Karl lives in a dream world and misunderstands things and takes them as truth (Man-moth, half men half biscuit, lady that grows backwards and has a seed that sprouts into a child) . Like when he (Karl) was shown an art picture where they build glasses for a fly to prove advancements in micro design and he said "they are making glasses for flies (correct) and thats stupid because flies only live a day and its pointless", missing the point completely. Used to think Ricky was too harsh, but that is why Karl is a successful person right now, that dynamic was purposefully created, and also, if you listen to the 3rd season onwards of the podcast (which im sure you did) Karl was getting really up there with the nonsense ideas. A monkey in a lab put lipstick on and passed as a scientist and escaped, a monkey typed fluently on a chat room on April 1st, Noah managed to get the animals for the ark because he was floating over a zoo... Ricky "mocking" him, let's not forget, took Karl to the spotlight and the dude now has been a part of radio, podcasting, documentary series, tv series and books! Ricky always said Karl was a genius, and admitted some of his ramblings had truths in them. Point is, the way Karl sees them, are indeed ridiculous and completely misunderstood.

Karl wasn't so daft with the impossible dream of a doctor being able to physically feel what their patients are feeling. Speak to those in extreme pain trying to get relief, speak to those with severe neurological conditions who are entirely neglected by the medical profession. If a doctor really felt that they wouldn't hesitate to give help while sadly in reality patients are left to die unnecessarily and in agony.
@elliswebster7041

I know what he means with people being used to their pain etc and I agreed with him at first but if he’s talking hypothetically, with something that isn’t possible, why not just suggest a machine that displays all the problems with you on a screen, without the need of someone else feeling it💀

I agree with Karl with regards to technology. I used to be able to remember friends' and family's phone numbers, addresses and birthdays. Now my mobile has all that information stored for me. Have I reused the storage in my brain, which has been freed up, for storing other important information? Have I buggery! It's now full of useless crap from the TV and Internet. I have become lazy.

35:41 sometimes I think Steve's thicker than most , corse they used to drill ,with sharpened bone / flint ,that's how they made holes in beads /flutes ect , and most of your brains function is not in the head ,it's in the top of the spinal cord ,even certain memory banks ,so Karls not entirely wrong .

@21:10 this is exactly what I think about quite a lot. Karl is a smart man, he thinks for himself, rather than just absorbing information from others.

Don't delude yourself, Karl is a smart man but you do realise this is comedy. Absorbing knowledge from intelligent/rational people is good, absorbing knowledge from flatearthers, antivaxers or conspiracy theorists is straight up insanity!

@@furious32ninja people like you never learn do you? So sad. You do know that there are highly reputable doctors who warn against certain vaccines, right? They also warn about inoculating children with the massive cocktails that are used these days. Many times they cause too much of an autoimmune response, and indeed leads to autism due to extreme inflammation of the brain (in many cases of autism). Even though these doctors do not say that vaccines are necessarily a bad thing, they are still dismissed and censored as antivaxxers. This is the problem with hot button words such as antivaxxers. It causes normally reasonable people to automatically dismiss very legitimate claims merely because of the implications of the attached label. This principle is also how magicians and con men have had successful careers for centuries. They take advantage of assumption.

@@pLaIrVaIdNoGx you really need to start educating yourself. Here read this for starters www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/concerns/autism.html follow the links to reports and scientific evidence and then come back with your scientific evidence proving that vaccinations are harmful.
