What If the Genma Were the Good Guys? (Onimusha What-If)

Every time I think I've seen my favourite one of these What-If scenarios you come out with another banger, god I love your channel! This was an incredible scenario to sit through, I absolutely adored seeing the Genma in the good guy role as it gave a lot of them the chance to show more personality. Highlights were Osric's friendly rivalry with Samanosuke, which reminds me a little of Jubei and Gogandantess from your first What-If, and Ophelia being Jubei's mother. It was nice seeing him have time to get to know his mother, one of the sad things about Takajo's story in Samurai's Destiny was how little she got to spend time with Jubei. And it was interesting seeing how these events changed the historical timeline, loved seeing Yumemaru rule as Shogun. While it was a shame not to see every character, I agree with your point that it made sense to stick to the ones that impacted the story rather than having them show up for the sake of it. Ekei getting to fulfill his dream was sweet and I loved seeing another scenario where Yuki was involved all the way through. Fantastic video, already looking forward to seeing the next What-If. Sorry to hear you've been ill, be sure to take care of yourself and don't overdo things, your work is always worth waiting for however long it takes so don't feel you have to rush. Side note but the way you described the oni gauntlet as latching onto the arms with tendrils and the risk of corruption when using it made me think of how it was shown in the Netflix anime. In fact I actually think this scenario makes that presentation make more sense, and considering the smaller scale of that story it could actually work as a what-if continuation of this scenario. Imagine if that gauntlet was one of the ones Guildenstern was experimenting on, stolen and kept hidden until a suitable human could be found to wield it. And the reason it acted so parasitical and was too dangerous to wear for long is that it was clinging on to the last remaining vestiges of Oni power, desperate to suck up Genma souls to regain power. Obviously there would still be a lot of work needed to make that series fit (and better in general as I'm still disappointed by it) but it does fix my issue with how the show treated the gauntlet.

This is interesting because Oni in actual Japanese myths are evil.

Onimusha did twist everything from beginning, God of Light is bad, Nobunaga is bad (some games also depict him as bad guy too, but IRL he is pretty Respected), Akechi clan is good guy even IRL they are hated because traitor (Hard time to find Mitsuhide Akechi's sword replica in JP because japanese still think he is a bad guy).

Can you make a video "What if Kaede didn't die" or "What if there's a Genma invasoon but set in the modern times, not to be confuse with time travel to the future but Onimusha but in modern day"

The concept of Kaede surviving their encounter with Gargant and Hideyoshi is something that's already been covered in a few of my scenarios, so I'm not entirely certain how I'd be able to make it another retread. As for Genma in the modern day, I'm not sure I have the writing skills to be able to come up with something interesting. One of the reasons I'm able to put these scenarios together is because I have characters on both sides to work with, and I'm not confident in including characters of my own without accidentelly making them seem like bland self-inserts. Still, I'll add these two suggestions to the list anyway just in case I'm able to come up with something new for them.

​@@DanishThePenguinfor the modern times one, you can start with demon siege. It would make sense since we can look at it as what if Jacques was the first oni warrior in modern times, gaining access to the weapons normally reserved for samonosuke's route instead
