Microsoft To-Do is just the best. Free, no ads, has most of the essential features, natural language processing and more. A great UI on top of that.

Great video, thank you! I feel you undersold Todoist a bit, it includes a lot of the features you went on to talk about in other apps, including: adding tasks from emails or Slack messages, kanban board views, calendar/upcoming views, and a priority system based on the Eisenhower principle. The only thing I wish it did is scheduling when to *do* a task rather than just the deadline (or add a deadline as well as when to do it).

I watched all 20:27, and I found it VERY helpful. Through the years, I've bounced around some using this kind of app. Currently, Apple Notes and Things3. I'm looking, in the next month or two, for a more visual-oriented note taker than Obsidian (which intimidates me) ... perhaps Scrintal. So glad you mentioned Amazing Marvin! It is a small team with not much publicity like all the big ones, yet it is really one of the most unique and positive apps out there. Why positive? It celebrates when you do stuff - and who doesn't need more encouragement? The tool is great and always being added to. There is a dedicated group of users and the reason of the high cost is to keep the community filled with authentic and engaged users. Try the month for free and then extend my another month (simple click) to really set it up and learn how to use it. A bit of a curve, but worth it.

I have a question for everyone. For work use, I use Microsoft To Do via my iPhone and it synchs to my laptop’s Outlook Tasks. It works great for me in that regard. However, my question is more for personal/ family use. I am looking for an app that can assign tasks to my children, auto schedule their chores, set reminders, etc. Any recommendations on perhaps one already mentioned here or a totally different one for family/parents/kids use? My kids are 11 and 13 years old. Thanks.

I'm curious if you see the irony in faulting a productivity app because it doesn't make it easier for you to procrastinate? Also, Things being strictly for the Apple ecosystem is not a con. Android users obviously don't know what they're missing (😝) and having a single codebase allows the dev team to use Swift over Flutter and keeps costs down for the customer since they do not have to maintain Java/Kotlin repos. Anyways, awesome vid. Thanks for sharing!

It's pretty much the opposite, actually. Android users usually had one or multiple experiences with the apple ecosystem, but the Apple users never experienced another system other than windows or maybe an mid range android in 2010. So it's literally the opposite of what you said
