I think that the idea of HOA’s is meant to reach into the wallets of wealthy owners and extract more $$$$$$ - which HOA fees seem to accomplish very well 😧 , however , on the other hand , I believe many people who are older and wealthy DO purchase homes with HOA FEES - as they need others ( younger and healthier ) to maintain the home and property.

Mad Child Because in some parts of the country theirs no real option. In FL you either in live in a nice area with a HOA or a shit area without. We have no income tax, so You can’t buy or build a new home near a city without one or 100k + just to try and get the city to be willing to take on the cost of to the curb. HOA are pretty much the only way to get a city to approve a new neighborhood.

Just a suggestion from someone who has a metal building like yours... I had the inside of my shop professionally spray foamed. 2.5in of foam with an additional fire retardant cost a few thousand but added insulation, structural rigidity, and noise dampening to the building. I have very little noise from wind or rain. I also caulked the outside of the windows to seal those gaps. After that, I screwed 3/4in plywood against the walls up to 8' to protect the interior of the building from punctures.

FYI, you only need the minimum requirement typically 4" of 3500 psi reinforced concrete cured for 28 days for most good quality lifts. The engineers designed the baseplates and column gussets for the most common concrete. The anchor embedment will only be ~4" as well. Additional concrete just creates more work for your installer. I always drilled through in the event of an anchor issue, so it could be pounded into the dirt and another anchor placed on top. If you wanted added rigidity, you could go 5-6" deep with a 24" square pad, but anything more is wasted cash. Nice building. I'm just sharing to save the viewers some time and money.

in total agreement with comments regarding HOAs. I grew up with the family having 165 acres in a "non-major city attached" county. We wanted to build a barn or burn a pile of brush, we did so. No one came knocking on our door about what we were doing. But living in the big city? Actually lived (and still do) in South Central Texas big city, and not only city gestapo code compliance but HOA compliance. We're done. Buying in the country where if I want to raise chickens, cats, or build a barn or dig a basement, I don't ask anyone for permission! Totally done with this totalitarian approach to living. I am a contractor and my situation on the building itself is different than what yours will be since I play poker once a month with the mayor and two guys and a lady from the city. I still had to pay for the permits and had to put up the building according to the building code, but getting the permits was not a problem. You will have to get a hold of the planning and development department in your town to find out exactly what they will want from you. They will ask you to submit a building plan so find yourself a consultant and include their services in your budget. Also, make sure you know how much the permits are going to be so you can add them to your budget as well. Some of the fees can be costly in some areas.

Fully insulated, concrete floor, OSB inside walls covered, bright red metal outside with white metal roof. At the time the building cost me $15,000. The reason I mention it is, I ran the metal on the sides horizontal as your shed is. I think it makes for a better look! You still need to do electrical installation yet. I have seen some go even cheaper if I am willing to do some of the work. I just have a hard time deciding between wood or metal 🤔 I like the metal buildings but wood buildings are easier to; insulate, run electric, plumbing, and heat/ac. I work full time and have a small business on the side and I go trail riding sometimes with my Jeep. My current "shop" is getting very crowded and I have to share it with 4 people. So I am in the process of finding out what's involved to put up a building like this one in my area. Thanks for the video now I have a general idea of a budget/savings to do 👍

The rest was in cement, which my pad has insane footers of 3x3x3 under every beam, and all the other bs the city wanted. I had to have my yard core sampled 15ft down, soil tests done, an architect draw up offical pad plans, a fastener inspection done, it was a total pain in the a$$. COUNCIL QUIRKS thank you for the question. All of the roll up doors, windows, and insulation was part of the 17K. The doors are manual doors. I did think about skylights, and probably should’ve went that route but I was trying to keep cost down.

My son and I were talking about doing this we're looking at a building we put together ourselves. A 40 by 100. Kit 29000. You did leave out permits codes . That would be a nice little added feature , and complications that may come from that

ja go thank you so much. If you give elite metal structures a call and let you know that I sent you they will discount it for you. I did have to get a permit but that was the easiest part. Just went down and filled out the forms and paid them. Lol. It seems they are most interested in the money. The concrete work was the worst part but really that wasn’t bad. Just cost more than I expected.

I buy, sell, service and install lifts and other shop equipment for a living and have done so for years. I have literally installed hundreds, probably thousands of lifts in shops, garages, barns, even outdoors. The requirements for installing a 7,000-10,000 pound lift are for the concrete thickness to be 4". When you pour extra thick concrete where you plan to install your lift, You waste your money and you take away the installer's options if you ever decide to move your lift. During the install, you drill all the way through the slab for every anchor bolt. In the event you move the lift or have to lay it down to do work on it, you can take the nuts and washers off the anchors and drive the anchors down even with the slab. If you have extra thick concrete, you can't do that. Your option is to lean the post over while you use a grinder to cut the bolts off or to manhandle the post up to get it off the bolts. It's dangerous and difficult to move the post if the anchors are still sticking up out of the floor. Also, common sense should tell you that a wedge anchor works against the concrete that is above and around the anchor itself. Having extra thick concrete does absolutely nothing to help your lift stay anchored to the slab. What good is concrete that is deeper than the anchor is long? PLEASE, if you intend to install a lift, DON'T pour extra thick concrete where you want the post anchored. Every manual that comes with every lift and every website from every manufacturer and everything you can find from every available source source you wish to check will tell you the same thing. Minimal thickness for concrete is 4". YOU DON'T NEED MORE. A little research goes a long way.

@philipbrown65004 жыл бұрын
@@tomfletcher3817 Manufacturers ALL specify in their manuals and on their websites what the minimum required thickness and the minimum required strength of the concrete should be to accomodate the lift installation. For a two post lift rated up to 9,000#, it is 4" and 3000#. Those are minimum requirements and ALL operate on that standard.
