You didn't refute the Fundamental Theory of Poker. As long as math works, that theory still holds true. Just because people get their AA cracked in a crowd of callers, doesn't make the theorem any less valid.

He writes that this doesn't always apply multi way. On page 25 he gives a stud example of betting with 1 pair aces and wanting your opponent to correctly raise with 2 pair to drive out the 3rd player with the straight draw increasing both of your chances of winning. David also address "schooling", meaning multiple fish(a school of fish) play too loose their mistakes combine to make their mistakes smaller because instead of heads up 80-20 it's 7 way with the best hand winning 22% and the other 6 winning 13% for example. Great video, I didn't know about Mortons theory, it seems like it could give good insight into how to play multi way pots

You have to factor in peoples intuition and psychic ability. Sometimes you get a hand and you just know you are going to hit your draw but you can get the same hand another time and just know it’s going to miss. You can’t force it though and if you try to convince yourself one or the other it will likely be wrong but sometimes you just know as soon as you see tour cards it’s a winner.

I've experienced this firsthand with limit hold em. It literally feels like all the other players are teaming up against you, and that they don't care who wins, as long as it's not you. You've got 7 people who stay in the hand to the river with various draws, gutshots, people trying to hit two pair, runner runner flushes, etc. Your pocket aces aren't even a favorite by the river. Now of course, all of these players are long-term losers, but that doesn't matter for you. You want to win, but you can't when you have eight losers chasing draws against you. One of them is gonna get there even though it'll be a different person each time. It seems impossible to win long-term. No limit is more manageable because you can put pressure on people to avoid this mindless chasing, but with limit, all you can do is bet another $4 or whatever the limit bet is, so everyone comes along for the pot odds.

Okay, so when you play those 7 players, and they call you down, and you have top set, and flush and straight draws are on the flop, and the flush and straight hit the turn, you're saying, you aren't gonna be profitable in that situation, should you call a capped pot, on the turn? Because, that board is gonna pair enough times, for YOU to scoop a very, very big pot. I played limit for 20 years, in Arizona. (LIMIT was all we had, which is why we have some of the best limit players in the world) and we had some of the wildest 8/16 games, with a full kill, all the time. There would be 2-3 games, going around the clock. They were must-move games too. So, you could lose $1200 easily, in this game. The action was insane. The best players, that drew to the nuts, or had the image of a player, who only played the overpairs or drew to the nuts, would beat this game. This was years and years ago, but I'm just making the point, that it is a high variance game. Even in smaller LIMIT games. But, with promotions and VERY weak players, they are beatable.

Anyone who thinks limit is unbeatable doesn't understand the math of it. Not trying to be harsh about it, just stating the fact. Let me give you a nlhe analogy: if you hold AA preflop in a cash game and go all-in, how many callers do you want? If you said anything less than ALL THE CALLERS, you made the wrong choice.

Very interesting. Seems like the whole general relativity vs quantum mechanics thing where it's hard to find a unifying theory of both

There will ALWAYS be a small amount of luck involved, and becuse of the smaller stakes you will have more people willing to "gamble" so the chance of a bad beat grows....

I'm certainly very interested in this as it applies to me directly. GTO maths seems like 1980s econometric models. Too many assumptions of a 'perfect' model that never exists after the flop. I'm not saying it's wrong per se, just that it's one approach, not definitive science. Overall, I'm officially incorporating this into my thinking. Thanks from 🇦🇺👍🏴‍☠️

In my experience when multiple villains call “incorrectly” it’s essentially polarizing BOTH their ranges. Which makes the multi-way pot more dangerous for the hero.

Okay, but let's factor in the river card...it's a J diamonds. Now, you with AK decide to check, A checks, because they missed and Q9 thinks possibly they can bet and take it. But, that's not likely, because it's LIMIT, and AK in that spot, is always going to be getting the right price. So, Sklansky is still correct, because AK has a pretty good idea, which cards to fade. Now, let's say the 2 hearts hits the river. AK still checks, and now A bets, and Q9 is almost certain to fold. AK is not folding for 1 big bet. They are still supposed to call, and only need to be correct a portion of the time, for it to be profitable. So, I still say Sklansky is correct, even multi-way. In LIMIT hold em.

In actual play..the players are playing to win that pot. So if you have a very strong hand pre flop. The iether bet BIG to get players out of the pot. Or. Bet slow to keep players in the pot. But. Iether way. Players are human and want to win.So each player will bet what and when he wants to try and WIN THE POT.!!. Hence basically a player plays his cards on how he thinks his cards will win. Poker..is gambling. A player must have enough money to take a losing session. And start again.. But.. A GOOD PLAYER.. will hopefully make better decisions than BAD PLAYER. And consistently WIN. I lose when I make a bad decision Or the other player makes a bad decision But. Wins..!. And that's the variance or luck in playing most types of gambling Especially POKER. The famous or so called professionals Are the ones who decided to play for bigger buyins. And win . Probably there are millions of excellent players out there that do make a living playing poker. And certainly millions who lose consistently. And that's why. It's gambling. Love my poker. Mostly tournaments. Too old to to start playing cash games now. TOO THE RIVER. BABY 😂😂😂

"Reverse implied odds." The guy calling with the nut flush draw has no reverse implied odds. You don't know what you're talking about.

Poker is a 50/50 chance on each hand. You either are going to win the hand, or you are going to loose. No one has any control over the cards on the table, or their opponent's cards. You either win the hand, or you loose the hand. Then you play the next hand.
@LilGambling

If all hands went to show down, yes. But as an example let’s say you sit across from a weak tight player that will over fold. This will allow you to win more than 50% of the hands.

@@GD-ue4ty It really is always a heads up game. When you sit down, every hand is either a win or a loose. We only can see the cards after the game is over. We can see them when they play on TV or tournament, but that Math is only relevant because we can see the cards.
@Rolexican

@@LilGambling I understand, I am just saying that I feel that players are focused too much on the math from being able to see the cards. When I sit down and play for my money, my logic is, I am either going to win this hand with what I have, or loose it with what I have.
