Good. Generally recreational players are too lazy to report soft play because the refunded money just isn't worth the hassle. Stables are *not* crucial to provide liquidity, instead independent reg's are.

If multiple players are sharing a bankroll at the same table… they are cheating. Examples include -They split the winnings of the lone wolf players. And refund their teammates after each session. -soft play -card sharing, squeeze traps -ghosting -and more All of these are examples of cheating.
@Nobody33566

There are a lot of pool of players who share their bankroll in super high stakes duo the variance and small edge in these stakes. This is normal, but this doesn't mean they cheat. Of course there are people cheating doing things like ghosting in stables but it doens't mean all players who participate in pools are cheaters. Its the nature the game to have a high variance and there's not a problem in share same bankroll playing legit. they are different people and you can't put them in the same place

There's a cash game video where Phil Helmuth stands up and goes to Mike Matusow to get "his share" of their mutual funds. I didn't mind they had an agreement to share funds, I mind that he grabbed money from Mike's stack while he was still playing, the Phil left the game. I found that super rude and can't believe they let it happen. I think it was a Live at The Bike video

@@Nobody33566 sharing a bankroll in a cash game is absolutely f****** cheating. The reason it's cheating is because both players know that there's no value in going heads up. In fact it's negative value because it increases the rake. This affects everything from pot odds to protecting blinds. If you know the player in the big blind is partnered with The only other player in the hand, you know The big blind is going to automatically fold.

I'm not part of a stable but we've seen Stars and now GG try to turn Poker into a casino where there are few winners long term, it's short sighted and will kill the game. As much as I love plaiying the dream of moving up to play at the highest stakes has kept me playing for 12 years (everyone one as a winning player). Online now you see the games becoming tougher as hte player pool learns but also more rake style events which makes the games less profitable. It feels like death via a thousand cuts.

If you can't have a poker career without a stable, then the dream is already dead. Stables and their owners are cynical monopolists concentrating the wealth in the hands of the already wealthy at a faster rate. It should be obvious that that is bad for the ecosystem of the game. If you want online poker to get even close to how it was in the boom you need to get rid of all the short-sighted decisions designed to grow profits for those already making profits. HUDS, Stables, ridiculous rebuy and late reg structures that allow profitable players to fire 200 bullets in a tournament. Not only is it unfair to recreationals (yes more than just being better than them), but it makes the entire game less enjoyable, live or online. A lot of players have no idea how fun a poker table can be because of how the soil has been poisoned by this stuff. Even if some players are clueless to exactly HOW it's happening, they can tell something isn't right and eventually they will leave.
@ForeverConsciousResearch
@ForeverConsciousResearch 23 күн бұрын
I have mostly played full time offline at brick and mortar rooms, but when the boom hit online the convenience of playing at home and the ungodly amount of dead money was just too good. As a result my game went to a 50/50 split between live and online play. Still even with all that I have always preferred playing in person because that's where your edge can shine best as a player. Having the ability to actually observe your opponent in person can never be matched. Not that collusion, software, and all sorts of other shady crap was active during the boom but today it is utterly insane. After black Friday I dabbled a bit longer but as technology caught up with poker permanently online I haven't been back (and never will). There is not one single online poker room that does what is right by the game and its players. It's an insult to every player of the game besides the cheaters. Your comment encapsulates word for word what has been in my head for years now, and even during the boom days I don't think any of us still didn't say "something just isn't right" lol. The online poker world hasn't learned from the scandals of FT, Ultimatebet, Absolute, etc., and how many freaking years have gone by now?? Funny enough I was just talking to a friend the other day and mentioned that there is a huge opening online for a company to swoop in and have a business model just based on game integrity. Will that happen at some point? & Can that even happen as technology gets more and more sophisticated? I'd really like to hope that it would be possible. This imaginary room online room must always be 💯 transparent with bad news and vigorously analyze player hand histories 24/7. Lastly, the first sentence really drives it home...if you need a "stable" then your dream is already dead. I look back at my early days of learning and compare it to something like a twisted college education. I had to learn through eliminating vices, minimizing losses/maximizing profit, reading books, consulting pros, continually improving on my cash/tourney game, and of course good ol bankroll management. Unfortunately I ended up getting chronic Lyme disease and don't put in nearly the amount of hours as I used to but I'm very content with my situation these days. Continually improving on the mind, body, and spirit while still playing poker has done a lot for my game. There is still a part of me that does miss living in the Borgata, Mirage, Foxwoods, and Commerce hotels though. Commerce and Hustler will always have a special place in the heart 😆 Anyways, sorry for the long response but it was great to see a comment like yours. Let's hope someone out there is willing to fund an honest online venture for players like us. "May all your cards be live and your pots be monsters" my friend. 🙏

So happy to see GG doing something about this. Stables are incredibly toxic to the poker community. Next we need some facial recognition software built in and running full time while actively playing, and probably kernel level access to ensure no 3rd party cheating/rta apps are running simultaneously. There is A LOT of things that could be done to secure online poker. It would require significant financial investment though. I just hope there is a company(s) willing to invest in it.

While soft playing and colluding is cheating, the sharing of data and notes is not and should not be considered as such. Stables in themselves really only provide stability to people that play professionally. Variance is very high for professionals so being able to limit some of that risk(especially for tournament players) is a huge relief for players to not have to ride or die with that. On top of that besides greed there is no necessity to collude and soft play your teammates while in a stable. I can see how some people could take advantage of that, I just don't know how common it is for stables to encourage that. I seems pretty bleak to be a online high stakes reg at this point the games already seemed few and far between with 4 pros and 2 whales always. With that being said historically rich people seemingly don't have an issue playing with pros. Id say itll probably impact like 25nl-100nl the most with minimal effects on higher stakes games.
