To read into his history this man had every door checked and locked so no one would chase him. If they did it would mysteriously become a dead end. The only reason Scargill wants questions put in writing and sent to an office is because it's so easy to ignore them and not have to see anyone face to face, which he will hate because he can't get out of that so easy .

It doesn't need genius to work out for the miners strike to work they should have planned it at least 3 years earlier. Told the miners to save ,save,save get enough money behind them to be able to fight for much much longer.. Therefore giving then a far better chance of success.. And this comes from a thick farmer.. Says everything you need to know about the union hierarchy...!!!

I was a striking miner I never received a penny from the NUM or any other organisation. I think I had one food parcel. My parents gave me the money for a flight to Ibiza . I worked over in Ibiza, I couldn’t go on the picket line due to my parents position. I would have been a high value target for the police etc.

This was one time when Cook got it wrong and in fact Roy Greenslade of the Daily Mirror (who were working on this story at the same time as Cook and using the same whistle-blowers as Cook) apologised to Scargill in 2002 and said it was all lies made up by Roger Windsor the former chief executive of the National Union of Mineworkers. Windsor (who had fallen out with Scargill)was found guilty in 1994 by French courts of stealing £29,000 donated by French Miners during the strike was found to have used the money to pay off his mortgage. Windsor appealed the verdict through the French Court System but in 2002 the highest court denied his final appeal and he had to pay a total of £250,000 in restitution and costs. It is generally agreed that Windsor was working as an MI5 informer at the time

It certainly would appear that Windsor was the common denominator in the money go round, so for him to simply blame anyone else is a little suspicious to say the least. Windsor had made no effort to put the money he owed into an holding account for repayment to the rightful recipients, rather he sits in his flash French home using the money for his own gain knowing even if eventually he has to pay it back it would not have accumulated interest. Worth also noting everyone but Windsor repayed the money.

@@chloeew4627 I guess you do not know that the main witness/whistle blower against Scargill (Roger Windsor) was prosecuted in France for stealing the money he claims Scargill stole or that this same witness was found to have paid off his mortgage with the money? French-based International Energy and Miners' Organisation (IEMO, French Miners) sued Windsor to recover money it donated to him for British Miners that he kept for himself. From 1994-98 Winsor was tied up in French courts fighting the claims but he lost and had to pay back £250,000. Sadly Cook got this one wrong and he was duped by con-men
