I wonder how to actually contact you as I run New England Reptile and by many considered a reptile whisperer. I think one of the things that really helped me starting as a child is to study insects and must certainly ANTS! I am forever fascinated by these creatures and it developed into an unusual way of thinking about other creatures such as reptiles! I love your content and always wondered what you think of reptiles? Thank you. Kevin

This is such an awesome point of view! When I owned a couple bearded dragons I went through a few different feeders, and it wasnt until I learned about the keeping and breeding process that I started to understand and fall in love with it all, insects, reptiles, and luckily I've always loved arachnids. I LOVED breeding super worms, as they are adorable vs the stinky crickets haha

Just report the bots before moving on. If enough people report them, KZbin's spam filter should start to recognize and block them automatically. @@K1ingnfy2 its a bot...
@mortlet5180
@mortlet5180 2 жыл бұрын
@@dukeofthedance8062 Bro, it's still there, it only dissappears for your 'session' if you report it. Log out and in again, or just look for the comment from someone else's phone/tablet/computer, it will still be there. Google just made it look like your report gets it removed to satisfy all the low-iq people falsely mass reporting stuff. As for how I know it's a bot or just a spammer, the comment literally spams a bunch of useless 'keywords', while using sexual language in the link itself to get vulnerable people to click on it. It breaks KZbin's TOS in multiple ways; just off of my head, some of the rules being violated are those that prohibit spamming the same thing on multiple comments, using comments for advertising, linking to unsafe off-site pages, promoting sexual or pornographic content, and using scrips/bots to post multiple comments for you. If you follow a few popular KZbinrs and watch their videos fairly early after they post them, you'll even see multiple different accounts post the exact same spam, which is a clear indication of bots having to use new accounts as their previous accounts get banned. One last thing, you don't have to worry about your report doing damage to some legitimate person. It takes a *lot* of different people to report a comment or account to even flag it as being 'suspicious', but only KZbin can see that flag. If KZbin's automatic systems are at all unsure if the reported comment is in violation of their TOS or not, then it will be forwarded to a real human employee to read and compare with the other masses of spam currently in circulation. They then ultimately decide if the comment should be removed or not. On the other hand, the sooner more people flag these comments, the sooner KZbin can take action and possibly prevent gullable children from clicking on some scetchy link that installs a virus on their device in the background, just because they think it will show them sexy/pornographic content.

Hey, @AntsCanada, you're way more of an ant expert than I will ever be, but I thought of something while watching and wanted to share my idea all the same. Perhaps along with the wood base, you could add some sawdust/wood shavings or a little bit of soil for the ants to move around as they would like? My idea is that they would be able to control the moisture levels of the various chambers themselves with a resource like that. Until the wood becomes soft/rotted enough for them to be able to chew into it. As you pointed out, the moisture level inside is really high, and I just worry that it could cause a bad mold infestation to break out. Thanks for taking the time to read my comment! I love the channel, ant love forever!!

I think that the AntsCanada channel is beyond amazing, I was like most other people when I first found it, I thought it was gross and that ants were pests. I've learned that ants have a unique and interesting lifestyle, and that they deserve just as much praise as any other animal, and I can't wait to learn more.

You may want to collect the sawdust from the wood when you make your tunnels and add it back to the tower so they have more material to manipulate and make it more natural for the ants.

Ants Canada, I've been following your channel for almost 3 years. The volumes I've learned about ant behavior have greatly increased my respect for ants. On an unrelated matter, the notifications for your channel aren't consistent. I know you post every Saturday morning because I look forward to your posts, however recently and specifically this past Saturday I didn't get a notification. I know you have been tracking these issues and I wanted to bring this instance to your attention. Again, thank you for your contribution to those of us who appreciate creation both great and small.

I wonder if adding springtails might help avoid any dangerous mold outbreaks. They might be able to use the wood to, or go in the cracks between it and the glass to eat mold.

Hey, I’ve used Vaseline to keep ants from coming inside our house through our bases and windows. And i only used thin layers of vaseline & or petroleum jelly around the edges. You should try slapping some on the top of the rim if the tank so that next time you want to keep the ants inside the tank!

Seeing how busy Mikey is in his Vlogs, I find it SUPER hard to imagine him actually spending a lot of time watching/filming his ants... like when he says "I was only gone for 5 minutes to use the restroom", it was probably more like 2 hours to do stuff with his new house construction 🤣

Hey for a future thing you could do is eventually when ya carpenter ants outgrow their new home you could make a casting of their nest then make a CNC carved cylinder that you could sell to people who want to keep carpenter ants of a similar size in the cylinder ant nest.

Genius mode activate! What if you got a thick piece of lumber and let termites carve it out. Tell the termites they're too late on their rent and sink the lumber in water for a day or two. Plane the face off the termite lumber to expose the chambers and mount a plastic sheet over it all. When I was an exterminator I had to deal with a lot of ant colonies that had moved into old termite hives.
