Did you know the praying mantis master who did a short time ago? His was was Yu Hai. I just heard about him on Instagram and he's apparently from Yantai so I was curious if you knew him.

He's no spring chicken, but fast and mobile with power that pops up in expected times. A true master.

What i find most interesting about Traditional Chinese Kung Fu is that if they were used in real life self defense, to any on lookers it would look sloppy or messy but potentially very effective whereas in other foreign martials the movements are always very direct and obvious.

He knows his stuff this Dude. Any fuller slower instructional videos on the style. comes alive in the paired work, looks confused as fast solo form. Good, liked it

Bengbu first move: Slip, and do a kind of block/parry to prevent the opponent's elbow. This is followed by an upward swing to the groin, meant to incapacitate the opponent.

I teach CHENG CHI (has lots of mantis moves) Kung Fu from Taiwan and gotta say when using these great moves that lots of regular martial artist aren't familiar with, the moves fluster and tend to incapacitate the opponent and always keeping them in defence mode and........ then the final strikes to end things, often a very hard body shove with good structure preceded by quick feint or distracting strike. Great exercise and great lifestyle at all stages of life!

The Bengbu of Taiji Mantis is longer and more complex than in other styles

hey will, just wondering what is the purpose of the very first move when your fists come up to the sides of your ribs then thrust down towards the ground fingers pointing down?
@MonkeyStealsPeach3 жыл бұрын
Its a breathing technique. I have a series of tutorials on the basics of Taiji Mantis, including this, on Patreon if you’re interested

Where is the Tai Chi?
@FabianYasahiro01082 жыл бұрын
Taiji mantis uses a lot of Taiji techniques like the double sealing movement that he showed as well as pluck,I noticed a couple of Taiji hand techniques used in the Beng Bu form the master did.
@TaoOfTheFist2 жыл бұрын
@@FabianYasahiro0108 No relation to Taijiquan, Taiji is referring to the concept of Taiji as in Chinese Cosmology. Paired opposites. Look at him talking about the Mantis concepts, he's plainly stating what he's talking about. Any overlap between tanglangquan and taijiquan is mostly coincidental and/or common Northern root systems.
