Well like most US wars - there isn't a logical answer but if you really don't know why Afghanistan was invaded than you missed the major irony of this documentary - particularly in the 'domestic terrorism' portion. The US invaded Afghanistan for their supposed 'war on terror' following the 9/11 attack on the twin towers and the pentagon. Bush was alleging the former government (the Taliban) was allowing the country to become a breeding ground for terrorism, which is how Osama Bin Laden was able to carry out his attacks. Which is ironic in itself for various reasons. Fast forward 20+ years the Taliban is back in power and the US has had a major rise in domestic terrorism related to white supremacy ideology rather than extremist jihadists. In one way you could count the war as a major success (a joke).. It's also had huge spikes in mass shootings (which could be seen as terrorism incidents) and that's caused by an entirely different issue, domestic politics.

I understand that this is about the voices of ex-US soldiers who fought in the middle east and their voices are important (even those gun toting, "muh rights" middle aged militia uncles who seem to be cosplaying). I also think about the Afghans and Iraqis caught in a war that was built on lies, that destroyed their homes and killed their families. For those people, they have no homes to go back to and sometimes no family. Perhaps the next time US tries to convince the world of a new enemy, we would be just a bit more skeptical about them manufacturing consent for yet another war and conflict.

The problem with the US convincing the world of another enemy? Well contrary to popular believe, rulers of democratic nations no longer need majority support to do anything. They just need to convince 10 to 20% of the population to support whatever idiocy they planning on. The remaining 40% is already banked in thanks to partisan politics. Here's some perspective for everyone concerning the War in Afghanistan. It cost the United States $2.313 trillion dollars to fight the war. The total number of enemy combatants both Taliban and Al-Qaeda killed was 85,791 It cost the United States taxpayer $27 million dollars to kill each of those combatants. And in the end, President Joe Biden handed everything back to the Taliban including $85 billion dollars worth of US military equipment and weapons. I wonder if it was worth it? I did not include the cost of American and our allies' lives because in my opinion even losing one of our own soldiers was not worth the cost.

That is not true at all. Your take of the Afghans is one of arrogance and lack of understanding. What happen is 300,000 Afghan soldiers just left their post, weapons and military equipment and just let the Taliban marched past them. This is because due to corruption most of the soldiers are underpaid, unmotivated and don't see the Taliban as an enemy but rather as their savior. For the past 20 years of American presence in Afghanistan, their lives has not improved and many have died during the war. Many were killed by American and Allies (Australian massacred a village of people once) soldiers, not deliberately but by cross fire from airstrikes and drones. As such, they want Change. The Americans are good at the hard side of things but not on the soft side of human behavior. What the Afghans need now is not aid or your prayers. They need their own money for nation building but they cannot get access to it because it is sanctioned by the US. They need infrastructure and they need to trade with the world. This is where China comes in and made Afghanistan part of the Belt & Road Initiative, provided they keep their promise of not supporting any terrorist groups especially the ETIM in Xinjiang.

The Taliban didn't refuse to hand over UBL. The USA has repeatedly and conveniently set aside its reputation as a country of laws in its efforts to steal resources it has been unable or unwilling to obtain through normal trade. Afghanistan sits atop vast arrays of mineral and energy resources and more than a few countries have been festering to extract them on the cheap since long before WWII. I feel some compassion for folks who believe wholeheartedly that the US is what it claims it is, an exemplary state to be emulated. It isn't. It is ruled in the same manner all countries and large populations have been for the last ten millennia, wherein a small group of thieving psychopaths manage to gin up some plausible fairy tales to convince the majority of their subjects to look the other way while they(the so-called elites)pick everyone's pockets through elaborate schemes like scapegoating other countries for domestic troubles to justify resource theft that largely benefits those elites. I watched Vietnam kill my uncle 40 years after he left the war. He suffered poisoning from agent orange, like many others do. It only took 6 months from diagnosis for him to loose 100 pounds from all the cancers. He only did what was expected of him. My heart goes out to every single man and woman who thought they were doing the right thing for their country. It is so unfortunate that all this hate has been created or brought to the surface. I believe we need our militias to keep our government in check, but not to spread hate on other nationalities.

Go search with this string --> Agent Orange + birth defect + Vietnam. Just the thumbnails alone will make anyone throw up. Your uncle was a rather unfortunate collateral. You stated, " I believe we need our militias to keep our government in check, but not to spread hate on other nationalities." But do you know that marc rubio was ranting to impeach/court martial General Milley for having stopped two imminent wars and save the US from Donald, the Groper?

This video is sheer propaganda at every single turn; this should be obvious to any sane person but if your just ignorant I highly recommend actually studying all matters fully and in proper context as this video it utterly sickening and is wrongly and falsely bashing vets at every turn

I believe it’s time for the US military to turn on its own government, they are out of control and the biggest single threat to global peace today.

you wrote "My heart goes out to every single man and woman who thought they were doing the right thing for their country." my question to you is, was the US under attack?
@JackBQuick79 Жыл бұрын
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 to my understanding we have only ever been attacked on 9/11 and at pearl harbor so my answer is no. I'd like to think we kind of "police the world" and help those that really need it. But I would be a fool to believe that. War exist for control and power and to make the rich richer. The men and women who serve in the US military, I believe do it for all the right reasons. Unfortunately they are used, like the Russians military to protect the interest of those in charge meaning they die in vain.

I'm a psychotherapist and see a lot of ex military people walk in my door. Humans are not made to kill humans, with the exception of the psychopathic personality. You might dehumanise as you have been taught, but sooner or later something (and it can be seemingly unrelated), will cause you to struggle and/or snap. It's essentially "shell shock"

@@jimmyk1998How blindfolded you are? Kill political opponents, teachers, women fighting for their right, Hazara, give terrorists a safe haven, use suicide bombers to kill civilians to create an atmosphere of terror. And say they do it for their version of a "peaceful religion". This list can be expanded. Many Muslim around the world call this terrorism too, embarrassing for the great Islam. And even if the US have a terror politics too; that can´t whitewash groups like the Taliban from terrorism.

There was no such thing as the war on terror, the Americans engaged in a war of terrorizing the region for their selfish interests

Though the war on Terror was supposed to get the bad guys and then nation build Iraq and Afghanistan as typical western server states opposed to ' terror's. But these efforts were so awful, in the end, it seems the whole point really was to sow chaos, discord, and trauma throughout the middle east. By traumatizing the middle east, it makes the cost of attacks on the US so high that it's less likely to happen again. So even if all the nation building failed, the chaos and trauma would at least deter future attacks since so many suffered.
