I presume the K1 guy is Dutch Style? Anyway, the way he throws his kicks is very beautiful. The forward momentum is a great way for generating Power in Yoko Geri and Mawashi Geri. You'll notice Karate guys when they throw either kick from the Lead Leg, they'll slide whilst kicking which puts your entire body weight behind the kick and helps close the distance. In TKD they call this the Cut Kick.

one of the best builds for kicking would be a build like Dwight Qawi,. you want someone short, densely muscles, heavy, with a short torso, and extra long legs, and thick, sturdy joints, strong knees ankles and calves. The Dwight Qawi build gives you many of the advantages of both short people and tall people as far as fighting. and that includes for low kicks.
@junichiroyamashita6 ай бұрын
It seems there are two types of kicker,the foot and leg. The foot is the quick precise high kick,the tkd/savate. The leg is the one swinging the whole leg,the Mt, the one you talk about.
@ssths6 ай бұрын
@junichiroyamashita I get what you mean, but I'm not referring to the MT kick. I mean all kicks. Those who kick with snap are served well with this build also, perhaps even more so than thai style and similar kickers. Because the snap kick doesn't rely so much on full body large circle rotstion, and on driving through the leg, but on small body movement power generation, and very specific penetration depth, having the extra weight and length I believe helps A lot. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, it's hard to put into words.

12:42 the major mistake for taking this kyokushin kick is doing what this guy did, he bend his leg, so it will give a good absorption against the way the mma guy kick, but against the kyokushin kick it will help the kick to land with more power cause it comes in a downward motion. We use a similar technique where I train is tricky kick and with the right technique it can be thrown with the lead leg and kinda pushed into a motion that will cause... I think is called skin rash the words I need

Maybe longer legs is like having a longer bat. A longer bat can generate more force because of leverage. I could be wrong, I am not a martial artist or a physicist, lol.
@inside_fighting6 ай бұрын
It seems right to me 🤔
@B..B.6 ай бұрын
It depends. My teacher even having big legs, his kicks are not muaythai like so he put much power without that long travel, and have descending trajectory, I hate it cause it almost always hit the nerve in the outside of the leg with so much pressure that is worse than being punched in the nose. Is kinda like the kyokushin guy from the start but with slightly different technique.
@mitchhowe22016 ай бұрын
My guess is that low kicks from the shorter fighter could be more effective in a certain fight contexts because it's faster to its target once in range. However, from a physics standpoint, having a longer lever (leg) allows one to impart more force into the opponent for the same torque. In other words, higher force into opponent for same rotational acceleration if you have longer legs.
@inside_fighting6 ай бұрын
Makes sense to me.
@junichiroyamashita6 ай бұрын
Are there specific muscles that one can train to become resistant to low kicks? Other than standard conditioning from fighting? I read that some MT guys use glutes to better tank the kicks. Conditioning the torso and body to absorb strikes can be helped by having thick muscles,expecially over weak spots, like upper back,chest and hips. Is there something similar for leg kicks? I hear people saying there is no way to condition for them,only learning how to check, but i remember seeing karate Kitae manuals that also conditioned the thighs ,despite hearing how it cannot be done ,and being mostly fleshy,more muscle means more pain. Leg kicks seems to be the next bottleneck in striking sport after "basic boxing skills"

Low Kick Kickboxing. Yes. When I started karate in America, it was NO KICKS BELOW THE WAIST. So this would be a tournament of NO KICKS ABOVE THE WAIST. I sure did plenty of head kicks in my time but as I have aged, the low kick options is far more preferable. There used to be a UFC fighter who used to throw a spinning back low leg kick with devastating effect. I can't remember his name. But he would throw those spinning back low hook kick and spinning back low side kicks with devastating accuracy. Also the low kick kickboxing championship should use those "jon jones" elliptical kicks and low side kicks. Hey, when I am street fighting, I want to be well trained and experienced in low kicks.
@LunaticReason6 ай бұрын
I noticed that people either throw their low kicks at an upward angle or downward. Is there a difference and is one more proper than the other. Their are palm strike just spike like volleyball. Basically just like punch your face but using a your palm. There's are reasons why ottoman slap is things.
