Hey Magnus, please investigate a bit what VPNs are. What you said at the start is..... uninformed at best. NordVPN isnt encrypting the stuff you do. There are some good reasons to use a VPN but most that are used in ads from NordVPN are not justified. I think a reason that Marte is so good is that she really takes Magnus' advice into account. It hit me when I saw a quick close-up of her placing her foot. You can tell beginners so often that they should use their toes but some just don't, for whatever reason (fear/disregard/strength).

I think her foot placement actually comes back to her grip exercises, as odd as it sounds. She is obviously more confident in her grip strength, so she can take more risks with her feet.

Beginners don’t use their toes because they forget to use their toes or dk how to use them. It’s that simple.

@@bizmonkey007 As a beginner, I'd say you're right. Most random climbing experience I had before was just using arms and pushing directly down with a full step. Though it's also the climbing shoes. I'm slowly starting to realize how ridiculously overpowered they are, and it will probably be a while before I unlock their full potential

I have size 12 feet and am lanky and weigh 13 stone so thats a lot of weight on my skinny fee to take on my toes. Its not always the best option ande the leverage easily pulls my feet off. The percentage of my foot that is on a hold at any given moment is much less than the average climber and I have the leverege and additional weight

It's a great way for beginners to start hang boarding! 5 seconds, pretty far away from failure for as often as you 'fancy'. Most likely great gains in finger strength for a beginner without real risk of overdoing it. It's evident that Marte is much more confident in holding on, and climbing really well.

Because if she doesn't see it at first and doesn't know what to do other than trying maybe acknowledging what she has done to solve the problems could help with that, it also doesn't take long to do so it's not an inconvenience for videos. As a couch warrior I must say I noticed a (beginner) mistake in Martes 4th boulder (12:24). She did not use her left foot to smear. Because of this she was forced to do a kind of one arm pull up, which seems not to be hear strength.
