Shanks, Dragon and BlackBeard are all very similar in age and I think they are a parallel to Luffy, Ace and Sabo. 2 brothers with black hair and one with bright coloured hair that stands out. Sabo has the scar on his eye to reflect Shanks, Luffy has the scar to reflect Dragons tattoo's and both Ace and BlackBeard have unmarked faces. I believe that Shanks, Dragon and BlackBeard were all former celestial Dragons who were mere infants during the God Valley incident. 1 child raised by Roger, 1 child raised by Garp and a 3rd child who has mysterious connections to the 3rd leader present at that confrontation, Rocks D. Xebec. I believe that Doflamingo's past will be foreshadowing to some of Blackbeard's inspiration. Finding out he was supposed to be born into the highest class at the top of the world, only to have ended up a homeless orphan having to fend for himself for everything. I think this would be the culmination of the "Cunning Villain" trope that started with Crocodile. He takes the best parts of everything he did with Crocodile and makes it better with Doffy, and I think in turn Oda will take all the greatest parts of what he did with Doffy and make it better with Blackbeard. All 3 are cruel pirates who have been shown to be immaculate schemers. Also following the rule of 3. Oda likes groups of 3.

I think this theory is completely wrong. I liked reading it, but very improbable. 1. You stated that Dragon and Blackbeard are celestial dragons. This won't make sense as both Dragon and Blackbeard are of the "D" tribe, and this tribe is despised by the celestial dragons. Considered to be the anti-matter to their existence. How could they have gotten that secret name? Because it's clear that blood has to do with it to pass on the will/fate. 2. I don't think the same inspiration and backstory for Doflamingo will be used on any other character. It was very clear that Doflamingo was meant to be a very unique villain to show the world torn apart by the negative energy from the non-celestials and the celestials. 3. Your explanation seemed very stretched in the beginning regarding luffy and his brothers vs Dragon, blackbeard, shanks. Oda likes to use certain designs a lot: like characters smoking while talking or fighting, scars on one eye (Fujitora is an example), and many more. So this explains why I think you were stretching it with trying to map similar physical features with then a brother theory leap. 4 (Bonus). I can't say for sure on this, as it was a quick scene. But in the flashback to Loguetown on the day of Roger's execution, various characters were shown spectating, like Moria, Doflamingo, Dragon, and Shanks. Dragon looked much older and taller in the flashback than Shanks did. So that's just my guess, can't be 100% certain.

@@jonboner1731 totally fair call-outs, my reasoning for those comparisons was that Luffy who is the youngest of the 3 was inspired by shanks and I think shanks is the youngest otherwise it doesn't line up as well, Sabo who was just barely the oldest of the 3 was inspired in his life mission by Dragon whom I believe to be the oldest of the 3 older brothers as well, and if it turns out that Blackbeard is related to Rocks then Ace and BlackBeard have an air of dichotomy about them both being weird reflections of their fathers, Blackbeard's father who failed his mission to become king of the world and was hence written out of history, and Ace who's father never aimed for the throne yet was dubbed King anyways and started the era in which the story takes place. One son is trying to live up to his father's dreams and fulfil a dream and the other is trying to separate everything about his father from his life and live for his own dream. Also as to them being D clan members, there is such a thing as bastard children born out of wedlock, and we have seen that not all Celestial Dragons agree with everything done by their group. Oda has gone out of his way to tell us nothing of their lineages playing up some excuse or another and making sure that Shanks has no other part of his name dropped ever. It is possible that Rocks' purpose for even going to God Valley was to be there to try to stop the execution of the aforementioned Celestial Dragon that helped him break some of this world's GREATEST TABOOS. Of the 3 we know the most about Blackbeard as he is a main antagonist but still all 3 of these older generation characters have some of the most mysteries surrounding them. All 3 have pivotal roles to play in the story. Also in regards to the similarities I referenced between Doffy and Blackbeard's backstorys for this theory I still think they would be different enough to have changed their respective approaches. Doffy who was raised in Mariejois and then robbed of that future right in front of his eyes versus Blackbeard who was too young to even remember that life. The psychological impact of that would be very different

I hope you know that in whole of One Piece Manga, only Shank's hair are drawn 'Grey' in color, which implies 2 things- 1. Either he is a son of Celestial dragon and a 'D' as parents, making him 'grey' - i.e., combination of black and white. 2. Or, his role in the series will always fall in a grey area, i.e., neither hero nor villain.

I was thinking while I was watching this, "Why was Shank's timing so impeccable with the Revolutionaries?" This theory really makes that idea seem plausible, but I just thought of something excellent as well. When Shanks talks to the Gorosei about a certain pirate, what if he is talking about Rocks D. Xebec, not because Xebec is still alive, but Shanks is announcing to them that he is the son of Xebec. He saved this revelation strictly for this time, because the Marines were stretched thin from the Reverie as they went to go round up the Warlords. My guess is that Shanks is either Dragon's partner or he represents the pirate alliance that he has with the Revolutionaries, and he announces that he is the son of Xebec just as the Revolutionaries attack Marie Jo. So the battle has two critical objectives, defeat the Revolutionaries or capture the son of Xebec before he reveals too much to the world, and their conflicting objectives lose them the fight. Sabo is perceived to be dead but is still alive, the Marines are at an all time low, and war has officially been declared, with many pirates that Shanks knows being declared part of some pirate alliance that the WG has to take out ASAP. One of those being Buggy, which would explain how he became a Yonko. So in conclusion, I think the war has already started, and once Luffy leaves Wano he'll see just how much he's missed and he'll need to rush to find Shanks to get trained and ready for the next attacks of the war

Is it possible Dragon was looking for Shanks early on in the series? He heads to Goa after Shanks leaves his base. Then we see Dragon appear at Loguetown. And we know Shanks’ was not too far away because Mihawk sailed in his boat from Baratie a few days before. Plus Shanks is upset and says he’s not in the mood to fight Mihawk. Dragon is the only character who I can imagine is willing to start trouble with Shanks in the east blue Overall many coincidences between Shanks and Dragon

I feel they are all watch dogs looking for joyboy..as they knew exactly where and who it is.. everyone involved with Roger's ship and dragon all cross paths with luffy at important junctions.. starting with shanks..he identifies and gives the hat. Then after the journey begins , buggy unintentionally gives the map to grand line, dragon who witnessed Roger's execution saves luffy in one point where luffy may find it difficult to cross path against smoker, then crocus at light house gives the compass, then we have nobody till end of the first half where dark king himself waits for the guy with the straw hat. They were all acting like watch dogs of luffy.. I think there is something in this.

The original intention was to give it to Ace but Benn Beckman secretly gets Luffy to eat it. Shanks and crew are like "Nooooo the future's fuuuuuucked!" But then Shanks is like, "Wait, maybe this is destiny." Loses an arm to make a "bet". The bet that maybe it's actually LUFFY and not Ace who was meant to change the world. Gives Luffy the Straw Hat and leaves the rest to fate. Remember that Buggy and Shanks didn't go to Laugh Tale so they shouldn't have much in the way of knowledge of Joyboy besides around the same as someone like Kaido's knowledge of Joyboy.

I have a strange feeling Shanks poisoned buggy and made him sick so he couldn’t go to laugh tale buggy most likely wanted to go and shanks tried to talk him out of if it for a reason I don’t think we know yet due to not know anything about shanks but as we know they didn’t go to laugh tale hence why buggy hates shanks now (after typing it what if shanks just wanted to have fun so didn’t want to finish sailing the entire world at such a young age but also wanted buggy his brother who he grew up beside to do it with him which is also the reason why if true he made the gorosei see buggy as a threat enough to make him a yonko so that he and two pirates close to him get have a lot of fun together which is why he likes luffy so much because luffy also prefers the more challenging path to have a good time)

I have a feeling that Buggy is the pirate that Shanks talked about to the 5 elders. I believe his plans have always been evil and him and shanks used to share their dreams when they were younger and they’re finally coming forth. Shanks wants to stop him. I believe buggy is stronger then he puts off and I believe his DF is going to end up being just like Luffys. I mean who expected luffys DF to be like that? Buggy will either be evil or he will be a hero.

Very nice theory here. I always was suspicious about that phrase from Mihawk to Shanks when he states "Oh, look that bounty, isn't the boy you told me the story a few years ago?" but whaou, I haven't figure out that Beckman was missing when Luffy ate his DF! But I still don't see the link between Shanks and Dragon and still think he was looking for Ace. But (again) Dragon and Shanks were both around Fushia/Shimotsuki (which both seem to be on the same island or at least very nearby from each other) at the same time. I certainly miss something there, but for now I can't fix how is their relationship

There are videos on why Buggy is considered a Yonko. It's largely due to his accomplishments, rather than his overall individual power. His reach and influence is actually massive despite being a clown.

Realistically, if you were going to give it to anybody, he has the most achievements that would lend themselves to Yonko status. I definitely don't think he's in the same league by any stretch of the imagination. I honestly think Oda treats Buggy like the character who is constantly put in situations where his overwhelming luck allows him to benefit regardless of the situation. Maybe he ate a Luck Luck fruit as well haha
